Greenbrier haunting becomes team-building exercise for Cardinals

The Saints have spent the last two training camps at The Greenbrier resort in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, with no accounts of any supernatural encounters. Maybe their nickname is their garlic-and-crucifix protection from the underworld.

Or maybe ghosts simply don’t like people from Arizona.

Regardless, the Cardinals spent the sandwich week there between games at Detroit and Pittsburgh, and some players believe the place is haunted.

Safety Tony Jefferson told the team’s official website that he heard a “little girl voice” the first night, and that he has kept his room lights on ever since.

“My lights are still on,” Jefferson said during the week in West virginia. “There’s something in there, bro. I promise you. I’ve heard it. And I keep the lights on. I don’t want to see it. I’ll hear it but I don’t want to see it.”

As explained by cornerback Patrick Peterson, the situation has indirectly promoted team building by keeping them clustered in packs.

“You hear a lot of guys talk, ‘Oh, the hotel’s haunted,’” Peterson said. “So they’re going around in groups. It’s helping us bond as a team, getting us closer.”

Given that the NFL is a copycat league, look for coaches of other teams to consider summoning a poltergeist or two in the hopes of helping his own players bond.
