Fire alarm pulled at Panthers’ hotel in Seattle

The 12th Man may have given the Seahawks an edge this morning by interrupting the Panthers’ sleep.

Several Panthers players have tweeted that they were awakened early this morning by a fire alarm that went off at the team hotel in Seattle. Some players are saying the alarm went off only on the floors the Panthers are using, and not throughout the rest of the hotel.

Fire alarms have long been a hazard for road teams in the NFL. All it takes is one overzealous fan of the home team who knows where the road team is staying, and the road team can have a rough night of sleep.

False fire alarms are, of course, dangerous and illegal, but those who pull them are rarely if ever prosecuted. Until they are, a handful of fans will continue to take it upon themselves to help the home team out, and give the visiting team a sleepless night.

  1. That’ll probably help with any jetlag. Jerk yourself out of sleep and go outside and then go back to bed, you wake up not knowing what time zone you’re in.

  2. It’s almost like this stuff happens in every NFL city…yet we’re told only the Patriots do such things…so confused…

  3. For reasons not fully explained, Goodell just fined the Patriots one million dollars…

  4. How sad, I guess Seattle fans don’t believe they can beat the panthers without cheating……

  5. Didn’t the same thing happen to the Patriots at their hotel during super bowl week? Cheatattle shehawks, desperate to be relevant again.

  6. Easy fix: make home and away teams stay in the same hotel the night before a game.

  7. 2 – 3 will cause you to do strange things. It only seems like yesterday Richard Sherman was running his big mouth about how great the chickenhawks were. Now they have the same record as my Brownies.. LOL..

  8. The “12th man” area bunch of losers who didn’t even go to games until 5 years ago. Look at games in the 90s and most of the Early 2000’s there was no one in the seats.

  9. That didn’t help the Seahawks during Super Bowl week as the Patriots had it happen to them 3 times….. It’s probably Sherman or Baldwin too clowns that want to come off as respectful hard working intelligent men but in reality they are self absorbed disrespectful immature boys. Still the most unlikeable team of players in the league.

  10. I think whoever did this needs to grow up. That is very dangerous and one of those pranks that should not be done. Some people just never grow up!

  11. Interrupted and lack of sleep has been scientifically proved to cause a loss of performance. It’s about time these people get arrested.

  12. The same low rent college prank crap happened a couple of times to NE at the Superbowl. As a fan I enjoy watching good football no matter what teams are playing. I enjoyed watching that defense work and seeing a team truly committed to the run. The only good part of the ‘Hawks hitting the salary cap wall will be the disappearance of the 12’s.

  13. This shows that Belichick is expecting Carolina to come out of the NFC. He wants to make sure they start losing sleep four months in advance. Always thinking ahead.

  14. Yeah we get it. The seahawks sucked for most of their history. That’s why they didn’t have any fans except from Washington state. That is what happens to all teams. You don’t spread your fan base til you win. Every team has experienced this. But now their winning and fans are
Jumping on the wagon. Americans love winners. Get over it. its only going to get worse

  15. I remember clevand fans back in the day camping outside the broncos hotel room basically rioting, while burning stuffed john elways in efige.

  16. I always thought that was one of the funniest things to do but then graduated to middle school and realized how dumb and irresponsible it was.

  17. Alarm-gate 15, Ted Wells is on his way . Roger will do anything to protect the integrity of the Shield! If false fire alarm pulling continues the league will crumble before our eyes.

  18. Patriots fans away seems to make it about them, everything that happens around the league, somehow or somewhere the Pats make it about them.

  19. Lots of fire alarms pulled in Arizona too. Seattle has a pattern of abuse against opponent hotels.

  20. Lolz if it was a Hawks fan they don’t know much about time.

They pulled it at 5:40 am, which is 8:40 am easter on the Panthers usual schedule. Most of them were probably awake already for all the whining the Panthers are doing on social media.

  21. Wow. The amount of ignorance in this article and comments is insane. I have been a firefighter for 30 years and I can tell you that when an alrm goes off by either a pull sration or a sensor, the alarm sounds hroughout the ENTIRE building, not just one floor. The fire department then accesses the enunciator panel to show where the alarm originated from. It will say, for example, “THIRD FLOOR PULL STATION, OR KITCHEN HEAT DETECTOR” It would sure be nice if the press would get their facts straight.

  22. The only good part of the ‘Hawks hitting the salary cap wall will be the disappearance of the 12’s.

That’s a nice thought but the 12’s have been one of the most committed fanbases for the last 15 years. There are definitely extra fairweather fans though. But don’t expect those to go away any time soon. The hardest part of the Seahawks schedule was their first 5 games. Take a looksy.

  23. Dumb 1-2’s dont realize that if there was an actual fire emergency elsewhere, people’s lives could be at risk, but no they rather give their football team the edge.

That’s not very good math. And to be specific, Seahawks games have been sold out since 2003.

That team will do anything to win. It’s just gamesmanship sending team employees to hotels like that. Always stretching the rules.
    ______________________________

Get serious, we’re not talking about The Patriots here. THEY not only stretch the rules, they break the rules!

This is just some kid being an idiot!

  26. It’s more probable than not that Tom Brady was generally aware that a fire alarm could be pulled at a hotel this weekend. GIVE HIM 8 GAMES ROGER! HE CAN’T GET OFF AGAIN! Ugh, this is so unfair

  27. It happened to Patriots before Super Bowl 49. Wonder if there’s someone on Seahawks’ payroll to do this to opposing teams.

    ————————

Yep there is. And that person only has to work once a year. This year, they chose for him to sabotage the PANTHERS. C’mon man.

  28. Proving once again that Seattle’s fans are the most obnoxious classless fans in the league. Taking after the team they root for.

  29. I’ve never in my life seen so many Seahawks haters is this where you guys go to meet up at

  30. I blame the Patriots!! Cheaters! (I’m finding this phrase works for anything, ordered Chinese food the other night like this).

That’s what happens when the majority of your fans are Los Angeles transplants.

  32. This could end up backfiring on the overzealous Seahawks fan (or Pete Carroll) who did it. It might strengthen the resolve of the Panthers to thrash the Seahawks in their own house. Not saying it will happen, but it could…

Wow, a whole 15 years!!!! Your bandwagon fan reputation is well-earned.

  34. Same thing happened to the Patriots during the Super Bowl week.

If it was happening to Patriots’ opponents, it would be making national headlines. But it happens to Seattle’s opponents, so it gets just a blurb.

The kingdome ( you too young to know what this is?) was the reason that they instituted a crowd fan noise penalty against the home team.

It was so loud in the kingdome that quarterbacks would just sit there and look at the referee and say they couldn’t hear anything so they would call a penalty.

But don’t worry that’s just facts and truth…. doesn’t matter around here

The only fan base in the NFL that required a rule be made against them for noise.

And that was in the early 1980’s.

I understand you weren’t born yet, but do some research and you won’t sound (as) dumb.

  39. They know the worst 4-0 team in the league is about to wipe the floor with the 2-3 Seahawks. You disagree? You just pulled the fire alarm at the hotel they sleep in…….
