Jerome Boger misses obvious safety in Minnesota

The Vikings currently lead the Chiefs, 3-0. The scoring should have started with a two-point safety.

Referee Jerome Boger flagged Chiefs guard Ben Grubbs for holding that happened in the end zone. It should have been a safety.

But Boger apparently believed the holding didn’t happen in the end zone — even though the snap came on the two and the offensive line immediately moved backward to form a passing pocket.

So the Vikings declined the penalty, the Chiefs punted, and the Vikings worked their way into field-goal position.
