Texans rule out Cecil Shorts, Kareem Jackson for the week

It’s not often that you see teams jump right to ruling players out on the first practice day of the week, but the Texans saw no reason to wait around for three members of their roster.

Coach Bill O’Brien said Wednesday that wide receiver Cecil Shorts, cornerback Kareem Jackson and linebacker Bernardrick McKinney will all miss this weekend’s game in Miami.

It’s the second time that Shorts has been knocked out of the lineup this season. He missed time with a shoulder injury earlier in the year and is now down with a hamstring issue that should keep DeAndre Hopkins fielding as many targets as he can handle against the Dolphins.

Jackson has an ankle injury and his absence will push first-round pick Kevin Johnson and A.J. Bouye into larger roles this weekend. McKinney suffered a concussion against the Jaguars last Sunday.

Linebacker Jadeveon Clowney missed that game with an ankle injury and O’Brien says he’s day-to-day for this week.

  1. DeAndre Hopkins might not be able to help his team win a ring this year, but he sure is going to get one for my fantasy team! Get some Nuk!
