Safety Eric Weddle has made 86 straight starts for the Chargers, but that streak will come to an end this Sunday.

Weddle has been ruled out of San Diego’s game against the Raiders, marking the first time since 2009 that Weddle will not occupy one of the starting safety slots on their defense. Weddle didn’t practice at all this week because of a groin injury and will have to set his sights on getting better in time to face the Ravens in Week Eight.

Darrell Stuckey is expected to take Weddle’s place next to Jahleel Addae, who is on the injury report with a back injury but listed as probable to play.

The Chargers defense is also likely to be without linebacker Manti Te’o, who is doubtful to play with an ankle injury. Questionable is the word of the day on the offensive side of the ball as running back Melvin Gordon, wide receiver Keenan Allen, tight end Antonio Gates, wide receiver Stevie Johnson, left tackle King Dunlap and center Chris Watt all drew that tag.
