Carlos Hyde ruled out for Sunday

Earlier on Friday, we noted that 49ers wide receiver Anquan Boldin would miss Friday’s practice after having his hamstring tighten up on him during Thursday’s session.

The prospect of playing without Boldin isn’t a pretty one for the 49ers offense, so it’s good news for them that Boldin said, via Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee, there was “no doubt” in his mind that he’d play on Sunday against the Rams. The team’s offense won’t be whole, however.

Running back Carlos Hyde has been ruled out of the contest. Hyde said recently that he has a stress fracture in his foot, but has been listed as questionable on the team’s injury reports and in the lineup for the last few weeks. The 49ers have a bye in Week 10, which may mean a lot of Reggie Bush, Jarryd Hayne and Mike Davis out of the backfield for the next two weeks.

Boldin officially drew a questionable tag for the game in St. Louis.

  1. I don’t think it really matters who is at RB against St.Louis. They are going to run into a brick wall.

  2. Regrettably, I realistically have to agree with schmitty2. I think Cryst is in over his head as OC. He doesn’t have the players prepared well enough and his playcalling is predictable. Kap went to QB school in the off season but needs experience in real games to succeed using this new knowledge. He isn’t getting the time to do this because the Oline is leaking pass rushers like a sieve. I can just cringe thinking what the Ram’s Dline is going to do to them without Hyde & Boldin as weapons.

  3. For those of us that gamble. I would forgive even Jed York and Baalke if the 49ers play their consistent inept game. Could make up the $$ lost over the years in the NFL.

  4. Hyde is having a few nice games. I’m not sure it matters that much that he’s out. Like the 2-5 niners matter.
They don’t. They’re just the “other” game this year. Nobody cares what they do.
Oddsmakers probably didn’t even notice. I doubt the line moved at all.

  5. It’s sad that the one of the really outstanding players that was shinning this year, the OC had to run him into the ground with his Greg Roman type “up the middle…one more time…the’ll never see it coming again” play calling.

Note to Geep Chist: you can’t run the ball effectively without a decent O-line.
Or pass the ball without pass protection from a decent O-line.

  6. We as 49er fans who have been lucky enough to see Walsh Seifert then death valley then Harbaugh truly realize York and his lacky Balke have a plan.
