NFL did indeed check Jets locker room for bugs

Yes, the NFL checked the Jets’ locker room at Gillette Stadium on Sunday for bugs. No, it didn’t happen at the behest of the Jets.

While continuing to make phone calls and otherwise to seek confirmation that the search happened, a source with knowledge of the situation tells PFT that the sweep definitely happened. It occurred as part of the “regular [and] random checks” that the NFL conducts at all stadiums.

The effort went farther than simply looking for bugs; it was part of a broader check of electronic systems and devices.

While some will say that it was coincidental, to say the least, that a “regular and random” check occurred at Gillette Stadium prior to the first post-#DeflateGate game between the Jets and Patriots, it indeed appears to be the product of normal league policies.

So this one should go away as quickly as the last Friday controversy involving Gillette Stadium did.
