NFL swept Jets locker room for bugs before Sunday’s game

Getty Images

A day before the NFL dusted off #DeflateGate with a 59-page legal filing, the league looked for even more evidence of potential cheating by the Patriots.

Boomer Esiason of WFAN reported on his weekday radio show that the Jets asked that their locker room at Gillette Stadium be swept for bugs in advance of Sunday’s game against the Patriots.

Contacted by PFT, the Jets declined comment regarding the situation. A source with knowledge of the situation tells PFT that the Jets did not request that the locker room be swept for bugs; however, the source did not deny that the locker room was swept for bugs.

The Patriots likewise had no comment on the situation, and the NFL could not immediately be reached for comment.

Concerns regarding the presence of bugs in Gillette Stadium locker rooms aren’t new; it was one of the main points made last month in an article from Sports Illustrated regarding suspicions about the Patriots. No listening devices ever have been found in any locker rooms in the Patriots stadium.

As one source has explained it to PFT, the Patriots have become concerned that a team eventually will plant bugs on its own and claim that the Patriots put them there. This has prompted the Patriots to ask the league to certify before each game that the visiting locker room is clean before an opposing team enters. Per the source, the NFL has declined to do this.

  1. Not surprised. Pats are the only team in the league to be hit with the 2 biggest cheating scandals in the history of professional sports. Forever tainted.

  2. This has prompted the Patriots to ask the league to certify before each game that the visiting locker room is clean before an opposing team enters. Per the source, the NFL has declined to do this.

But but but what about the integrity Roger???

  3. Congratulations, Roger Goodell. This is where your “leadership” has taken us. Absurd accusations are now treated as legitimate possibilities, anonymous sources are allowed to rule the day. Nice job!

  4. “Paranoia strikes deep, into your heart it will creep. It starts when you’re always afraid……”

Prophetic words from the ’60s. Kensil must be working in a bunker by now……..

Yet again, the NFL upstages it’s own game. How many more idiotic moves can 345 Park Ave make before the owners mutiny???

  5. That’s hilarious.

Guess what, its called film study and very hard work. Pats don’t need bugs.

This was a desperation level attempt by Goodell and his cronies from the Jets to frame the Pats again since framegate has totally and utterly backfired.

And given how totally incompetent the league office has been, who did they actually get to “sweep the locker room” ? I doubt they hired a former CIA spy, it was more likely some boob who wouldn’t even know a bug if he had seen one.

The Goodell smear campaign continues. Keep it up. This will carry over into next week. Washington is going to get hammered anyway they’re such a pathetic excuse for a franchise, but now its going to be that much worse.

Goodell and his band of liars can keep it up all they want. They just make themselves look worse and more pathetic with every step they take.

    Facepalm

  6. So you’re telling me that the league will sweep the visiting locker room at Gillette any time another team requests that it be done, but they won’t do it when the Patriots request that it be done in order for them to avoid being potentially framed? So much for all 32 teams being treated equally by the league. The entire NFL office is full of hypocrites

  7. This whole cheating saga has gone from strange to idiotic to psychotic. Football has literally ceased being a sport in favor of becoming a hybrid soap opera/reality TV show.

  8. If the NFL and Tsar Goodell were so concerned about “protecting the shield” and “the integrity of the game,” why are they not trying to protect the game from slanderous, and destructive, claims from teams eating sour grapes about losing to the Patriots and Belichick all the time. They could easily debunk this whole thing, and issue statements, assuring the public that everyone is on a level playing field.

The NFL just wants the public opinion to be against the Patriots, and it’s not working so they’re going to just play ignorant. It’s worked so well for them in the past…..

  9. And the witch hunt continues……..At some point the rest of the league will just have to admit;
Bellichick is better than everyone other coach in the league. That Brady is the best quarterback than anyone else in the league and that the team as a hole may not be the “most” talented at every position, but they are better prepared and put in the best positions to succeed by the coaching staff than any other team in the league.

At the end of the year they may not win them all but they will win more than anyone else.

    Deal with it

  10. Haha hahahahaha pathetic. I bet we would’ve known by half time if there were bugs but since the NFL didn’t find any they didn’t want anyone to know that the patriots actually followed the rules. Roger goodell is pathetic and if you don’t think he is the biggest cancer in all professional sports I don’t know what more you can want.

  11. Of course the league won’t do as the Patriots ask. Mr. Integrity is practically begging to have other teams employ Nixonesque dirty tricks against the Pats, so he can curry more favor with his group of jealous owners and preserve his $45M paycheck.

  12. I would like to use strong language here. The Jets, and the admin of the league are beyond pathetic at this point.

    Enough already, jerkfaces.

  13. LOVE IT…KEEP UP THE LITTLE GURL BS,,,,each and every time..good for another 35 points….each time you poke the bear you get your A** kicked!!!

  14. Cant say I blame the Jets. When you are playing in the stadium of the team that nurtures a culture of cheating…..

  15. The blatant vendetta by the league office against the Patriots is mind-boggling. A visiting team can voice a concern anonymously and get the locker room swept for friggin’ bugs; but the Pats express legitimate concerns that they could be framed by some butthurt second rate franchise and can’t get it verified they’re NOT cheating?!?

“Football has literally ceased being a sport in favor of becoming a hybrid soap opera/reality TV show.”

There is no such thing as bad publicity these days. It only brings in more viewers who want to “see what’ll happen next”.

  17. This is serious getting ridiculous… I have no words for the level of pettiness that is allowed in today’s NFL. Roger Goodell has to go … because there is no leadership or independence left in the League offices.

The Patriots have been singled out and separated from the flock… They are the true black sheep now … and IMHO … I like it … I hope it continues because it is becoming the fuel that this great organization is using to perpetuate its greatness year in year out!

  18. “Why aren’t the NFL offices bugged?”

“Nothing they say there is worth hearing about.”

  19. Just another win for the Patriots before they even take the field.

The CRYBABIES will TRY and spin this as a negative thing but if you are a Patriots fan it’s just shows how the team is in everyone’s head

    # CRYBABYNATION

  20. Sounds like people are jealous. Watch the team play. They don’t need bugs. They don’t need special footballs. They’re just a good team. No, I am not a Patriots fan. I’m just not insane either.

    The NFL is #embarrassing.

  21. The reason why the Pats are frowned upon by football fans outside of the New England area, is that after yet another controversy, they are kicking everyone’s ass. They are like the Kardashians. No matter how much everyone hates them, they keep cashing checks and the Pats keep winning.

  22. Wait a minute. If the NFL declined NE’s request to have the locker room checked, and the Jets didn’t request that, then what was the impetus for the check?
That’s right, it’s the NFL “leadership” that got their clocks cleaned in court recently. They’re still trying to validate their actions in DeflateGate. And Roger constantly preaches “Integrity”…he wouldn’t know integrity if it bit him in the rear…

  23. I’m surprised that the league wouldn’t simply say they found a bug just to screw NE.

Heck, they didn’t need any actual evidence to turn Deflategate into a national news story.

  24. Bellichick is better than everyone other coach in the league. That Brady is the best quarterback than anyone else …

    You forgot to add G R O N K is the GTEOAT.

  25. So did this report come from the NFL? The bastion of integrity? Suppose this leak was issued to potential enhance their appeal? This has grown beyond pathetic. And you haters…get over it…the reason they win is because their better…that’s it. But if it helps you cope by all means continue to self medicate with lies and hatred.

  26. “As one source has explained it to PFT, the Patriots have become concerned that a team eventually will plant bugs on its own and claim that the Patriots put them there. This has prompted the Patriots to ask the league to certify before each game that the visiting locker room is clean before an opposing team enters. Per the source, the NFL has declined to do this.”

Could the NFL’s agenda be any more clear?

  27. “A source with knowledge of the situation tells PFT that the Jets did not request that the locker room be swept for bugs; however, the source did not deny that the locker room was swept for bugs.”

The Jets didn’t ask for it. But sure, don’t read the article, classic JEST, am I right guys?!

  28. Heh, the Pats are worried about a false flag accusation. They are smart to look out for such.

In my view, all is fair in love and war so all teams should just treat Gillette Stadium as enemy territory.

They should take the following precautions:

    1) sweep for bugs

    2) guard the playbook in all it forms–watch it like a hawk

    3) make sure no Gillette employee is within earshot of locker room doors while meetings are taking place–put your own Sentries there. Also, examine ways that eavesdropping can be done via the ventilation system.

Do these practices smack of paranoia? Yep. Would it be unfounded to take such measures? [Shrug] Who knows. May be silly, may be not.

But, don’t go whining and blaming “the enemy” when you haven’t taken every precaution to guard against spies.

  29. It’s incredible that people think the Pats cheated twice. They admitted they filmed things that were illegal yet other teams did as well….they were the only team turned in. Deflategate was and is a joke…no rationale needed since it never happened.

The Pats lost three starting defensive backs over the summer and are playing with rookies and waiver pick ups. They have three rookies in their offensive line and two others from the practice squad. They replaced their third down specialist with a guy who hasn’t played a down in two years. You can’t make this up…..their system and there ability to coach the guys they have is so far superior to anyone else its simply astounding.

I am not saying they will go undefeated but to accomplish all they have while being a target of every other team and the league is incredible.

  30. …and it just happens to be the Jets. Roger’s old team…. who despite being off to a great start, just can’t resist hopping on the “They beat us, so they must be cheating” bandwagon.

OK haters, don’t let the fact that nothing was found, has ever been found, or ever will be found, deter you from accepting it as fact, and harping on it for the next half century. It will make your team sooooo much better.

The Pats prepare for their opponents better than any other team in the NFL. They spend hours in the film room. They run 20 variations on every line up, so they are ready for anything.

    It’s preperation, not reconnaissance.

  31. “..he is becoming unhinged.”

I think you’re actually right. Goodell thought the whole deflategate thing was slam dunk right from the start.

Then actual facts came out. Then people who couldn’t pass a 5th grade science test found out about a thing called the ideal gas law. Then the lies that Goodell and his cronies told and tried to bury with sealed transcripts came out when Judge Berman forced them to be releases. Then they badly lost the deflategate case.

Anyone sane would have stopped at that point and not filed an appeal. Now in support of trying to frame Brady and the Pats they have tried to frame them again with headset issues the first game of the season, stirred up spygate accusations all over again through their schill bspn, stirred up other false accusations.

The conclusion would seem to be insanity and desperation is driving everything they’re doing in the league office now.

  32. Just another reason why Goddell is the worse commissioner in the history of the NFL and should be fired by the owner cartel.

  33. Even with the sweep, the Jets and Dolphins STILL think they must have been bugged. I mean, there could not possibly be any other explanation for the drubbing.

  34. How about the rest of the story? And found nothing. In fact there never has been or never will be. The real fact of the matter is the teams regularly thumped by NE hasn’t the brains or the willpower to do the hard work it takes to defeat the Patriots. They simply can’t comprehend why they are helpless against the greatest winning machine ever seen in NFL history. So they start seeing boogeymen and make false accusations including league backed sting operations. They can’t possibly win on the field so they pathetically clutch at meaningless, baseless excuses hoping to win in the game of public opinion. This is a sad commentary on America in general where success and hard work is frowned upon and sleazy, lazy, disingenuous hog wash is taken as fact. Where in the face of insurmountable evidence a biased league continues an unwinnable case with the only reasons being disgusting pride and a despicable need to treat players like slaves who they want to treat as such. God this crap riles me up!

  35. Roger and his cronies are now furious as they were planning to plant bugs in the opponents locker room to make the Pats look bad but once again… Patriots are two steps ahead of his clueless crew.

After what the NFL office has done with deflate-gate… would it really surprise any of us?

    Burn it down Brady!!!

  36. If the NFL wants to really make things fair, they will redo the divisions. New England has a cake schedule every year.

  37. Sooooooo weird that they didn’t find any bugs. I thought for certain that Don Van Natta’s 900 unsubstantiated anonymous sources were real.

  38. You people have been fined, had draft picks taken, and have apologized. You have no one to blame but your own team. And you are not in my head but for cheating.

  39. indymarc says:

Once a cheater, always a cheater. Only a matter of time before they get caught cheating again. #tainted.
    ———————————————————
Laughable comment coming from an Indy guy. You bozo’s actually did cheat. Sticking a needle in an opponents football and then readily admitting it explains a lot about the mental capacity of your fine management team and the integrity of the league who simply swept that little nugget under the rug. Just enjoy your 7-9 Division Championship and the opportunity to watch real contenders play out the rest of the playoffs after Lucky boy implodes again into a one and done.

  40. And there are actually a handful of Patriot fans who will tell you Brady did nothing wrong….

  41. This will never happen, but I’d love to see it. Say the Pats win the Super Bowl, and when the award is to be presented, the Pats send the equipment manager up to the stage to receive the trophy, and then hold their own ceremony after Goodell stomps off in embarrassment.

  42. If this is not a perfect example of how badly Goddell has damaged the “Intergrity” of the game then I don’t know what is. And to deny the Patriots request while halfway through the season they have yet to release PSI’s numbers shows you how this is nothing but a vendetta it is personal regardless of what this over paid silver spooned idiot says.

  43. I have it on very good authority that Mike Kensil was the driving force behind this action by the NFL. The Jets coaches were not involved and this was done without their knowledge. The person I heard this from said they think Kensil overstepped his bounds by doing this and could be in hot water with the league.

  44. if you take a step back and analyze the so called taping of defensive signals scandal, use your brain and come to the conclusion that every single team still does this and then further take the time to look at the evidence in the so called deflated footballs scandal and again use your brain, you must conclude that all of this is a complete joke. therefore, if you truly believe either of those situations are classified as “cheating,” then you are either a moron or a coward. which one are you?

  45. The way things are going, I’d be more worried about the NFL planting bugs in the Patriots locker room than opposing teams.

On the plus side, there are some cops in Maine getting a LOT of overtime.

  46. And this is exactly why i watched the NBA last night and not this game.

Goodell, the League Office and the owners are a flat out joke.

Gee i find it very interesting how in the Cardinals v Ravens game they said the missed tackle eligible call didn’t affect the outcome of the game. Makes me believe the League Office is fixing games now. How would you know that didnt affect the outcome of the game unless u fixed it?

  47. After watching NFL the only thing they should be concerned about is the way these games are being ruined by the officials

  48. The last paragraph is fantastic. It’s yet another brilliant Patriots manuever! The criminals are claiming that THEY are the victims!!!

The rest of the story is being busted cheating and docked first rounders twice. Don’t let Brady skating in court make you forget that, and don’t pretend to yourself “there never has been or never will be”. There definitely ‘has been’ and after the second strike there’s no reason to suspect there won’t be more ‘will be’.

  52. The Patriots need to come out strongly and state that they would welcome locker sweeps done by a THIRD party. Their worry that the NFL will plant one as another method of framing is completely justified.

  53. Pats fans seem to forget that Josh McDaniels, OC for NE, also got into some trouble videotaping opposing teams when he was the head coach for Denver. Birds of a crooked feather tend to flock together in New England*

  54. Since the league clearly want everyone to believe that the Patriots circumvent the rules to the point that it TO THIS DAY declines to disavow news accounts about underinflated footballs that have been PROVEN to be patently false, and since the league refuses to, at the Patriots request, inspect the visitors locker room at Gillette Stadium for listening devices, one can reasonably infer that the league perhaps HOPES that an opposing team will plant such a device ( I’m sure Mike Kensil does) and thereby “confirm” the league’s position that the Patriots are recalcitrant cheaters. Furthermore, it makes it abundantly clear that the league’s often-cited concern about “the integrity of the game” is disingenuous at best.

ONLY thing the Patriots did that was illegal in Spygate was WHERE they were filming from…..on the sidelines in full view of 90,000 people.

Was NOT the filming that was illegal….was the LOCATION.
ALL teams film each others coaches from "approved" locations.
So much intentional mis/disinformation about Spygate.

  56. And found nothing…

So either the NE intel guys are better than the NFL’s counter-intel guys or THERE WERE NO BUGS.

  57. The only thing i believe is legitimate when it comes to the NFL right now, is the Patriots kicking every other team’s behinds every week.

The rest of the League is extremely tainted and has become unwatchable.

The NFL league office doesn’t have any appeal.

Oh, you meant that other appeal? That’s just a formality.

  59. First off, not a Patriot’s fan but this is ridiculous, as was the deflatgate BS…

We have seen what Brady can do with a properly inflated football, what is it 20TDs, 1 Int…the rest of the teams should be asking for Goodell to allow the Patriots to deflate the football’s.

Now the Patriots are asking for the league to sweep the locker room prior but the league says no. So I am guessing that even if something is found, the Patriots will have another scandal on their hands that will be overturned in court because of the league’s/Roger’s stupidity.

Please as a fan of one of the other 31 franchises, don’t give the Pats anymore motivation. They have enough and it is showing on the field.

by the way, since 2010…Pats 43-11 against non divisional opponents. Could go back further, but probably will work against your argument.

  61. Oh, wow. When do the Patriots play the Jets again? And to think that even this very morning I had the smallest concern that the next game against them would be even closer than the last. Well…, I’m not a concerned Patriots fan for the outcome of that upcoming game anymore, it’s going to be a New York Jets massacre. Thanks for the ease of anxiety, New York. On to the Redskins.

  62. A previous poster sent chills down my spine. I now don’t only fear but am 100% sure the NFL will plant some phony evidence and “catch” the Patriots. They’re 100% capable of such a despicable act as public record has shown Goodell to blatantly change testimony by Brady to fit his needed results. This is bad people. Hate all you want but dang, this is BAD! Wake up, stop the evil Goodell cartel and in an honest request I call on congress to do a full investigation of the going’s on of the NFL league office. Something really stinks here.

  63. “If the NFL wants to really make things fair, they will redo the divisions. New England has a cake schedule every year.”

On of the myths the Pats haters cling to.

Pats vs AFCE winning % .750

Vs the rest of the league % is .745

Keep up the wishful whining though

  64. Meanwhile, on this news, the Patriots Revenge Tour turned it up a notch against the Dolphins. Resdskins…I mean…err….Washington DC Area NFL Team…you’re next!

  67. anyone else think the “timing” of this media leak (right after NE embarasses the dolphins) is curious?

    Goodell just needs to go.

    His priorities are:

    #1 His ego

    #2 The league’s welfare.

    that doesnt work

  68. Kinda funny they have the high tech ability to sweep a locker room for bugs but their officials still do not understand what constitutes a catch or pass interference!!!

  69. “A source with knowledge of the situation tells PFT that the Jets did not request that the locker room be swept for bugs; however, the source did not deny that the locker room was swept for bugs.”

Roger’s minions did it. He will do all possible to avoid having to hand Kraft the Lombardi THIS year. I have no problem envisioning him talking to a few refs…

  70. They admitted they filmed things that were illegal ”

No you don’t get it. Its not illegal to steal signals and never has been. Teams still do it to this day, that’s why coordinators and head coaches constantly cover their mouths.

What was illegal was taping the signals from the sidelines in the first game of 2007. That’s it.

Its the job of every coach to learn as much as possible about the other teams and coaches, tendencies, alignments, formations everything.

Its the job of every coach to try and steal and figure out other team’s signals as part of this. That’s why good teams change them up and lazy ones don’t.

Belichick and his staff did nothing wrong with spygate, except in a single game where the cam was in a no longer allowed position.

  71. I’m shocked there wasn’t a report from ESPN stating that they found 11 bugs in the Jet’s locker room. Only to find out several months later that the report was incorrect. However, there would be no apology or retraction of said report, and morons who don’t know any actual facts would continue to reference said incorrect report.

  72. “Of the 117 bug detectors Walt Anderson used, 116 came up negative, but we found it more probable than not that the 117th positive test was indeed the correct one.”

    – Chris Mortenson Via twitter.

  73. this is all a joke this is what teams have resorted to instead of working harder and game planning better they all have jumped on the patriots cheat wagon & are riding the wagon because why ???

no matter what they do they just cant beat us PERIOD total domination over the last decade plus has made teams, coaches.GM’s and all the higher ups go completely MAD while Belichick keeps hitting the film room and playing chess while all the losers are playing….They cheat they cheat they cheat…..wah wah wah

get over it and try to do something about it….

Jesus what a bunch of pathetic losers

  74. Also, lets not forget who Mike Kensil is!!!!!!!!!

Former GM of the Jets when Belichick turned his back to that organization AND the guy who LIED to the media about the deflated balls!!!!!!!!!!!

Shocking … coincidence ???????????? I dont think so.

  75. If the system was hard-wired into the infrastructure of the building, you’d never know it was there. As for searching at the request of the Pats, I’m sure Bill would find a way for them to “find” something to blame the opponent…that’s probably why they don’t bother.

  76. Those former Jets employees working in the NFL League offices are so freaking paranoid.

Can’t imagine what the culture is like in the league offices. I’m sure some investigative reporter could find out.

  77. Lol

The Pats need to be vigilant for when the cheating whining Colts and Ravens come to town in the playoffs, only to be demolished, and then they plant bugs in their own lockerrooms and claim “cheating!” to try to disrupt the pats as they march to another superbowl.

Oh, actually, not much chance the Pats will see the Ravens in the playoffs. I guess Harbaugh will have to conspire with the Colts again. Good luck haters. I suggest you spend a bit more time on your own gameplan, adjustments and NFL rulebooks and less time in your paranoid fantasies.

  78. So apparently the Gillette Stadium visitors locker room has been swept more times than any other locker room

And how many “bugs” have been found?

    None.

Time and time and time again

    None.

    SCANDALOUS!!!!!

  79. So if they get caught they have an out already. Sounds like the typical patriot way.
    ===
Because if you’re doing something illegal, you’d intentionally draw the attention of the authorities to the very thing you’re doing? Are you insane? That would make as much sense as emphasizing the proper inflation pressure range to the officials and then monkeying with the pressures. That is: it makes no sense.

  80. When will the league and the rest of the teams realize that the Pats just laugh at this crap?! In the meantime, they’ll continue to win superbowls while the rest of the teams cry about it

  81. LOL. The haters tears are flowing fast and furious this morning. Wish I had invested in Kleenex!!

Feel free to “sweep” the locker rooms, the urinals, the vent shafts, the parking lot, the McDonalds down the street…..LOL!

    We are on to Washington.

  82. I once heard this line or at least a variation of it that went,”you need to discipline your kids every day. You may not know why, but they do.” Comical really. But pathetic when someone actually applies it. And that is exactly what Goodell is, pathetic.

Well he’s worse than that actually. He is a Narcissist. And as such, he does everything he can to defame the Patriots in general and Brady specifically.

The reason he does this has been stated here before. There are actually two things a Narcissist does in life. The first is that they build themselves up in whatever way they can. The second is they knock anyone else down that poses a threat to their self image.

How does that apply here? Easy. Brady is the face of the NFL. Everybody who knows anything about football, admires him. Even those who dislike him and post blogs that he cheats. Down deep they think that no one can be that good unless they cheat. But of course, when they accept that there is no proof that he cheats, they have to conclude that he is an incredible player. They won’t admit that, but that is what they think.

Goodell is different. He absolutely knows how good Brady is. And he hates that. Because in his mind, if Brady is good, that takes something away from himself. If Brady wins another MVP, then he gets the attention and Goodell doesn’t. If Patriots win the SuperBowl, the Patriots get another ring and Goodell doesn’t. If Brady is voted into the HoF on first ballot, he gets the jacket while all Goodell gets is to put the jacket on Brady. Goodell gets no glory that he seeks so much.

So what does he do? The only thing he thinks he can, he tries to destroy Brady. He tries to penalize Brady and of course that fails. He tries to defame Brady and of course that fails. He tries to distract Brady and of course that fails. And that’s just stuff related to Brady. There are a ton of other things that Goodell has failed at. Most importantly, he has failed miserably at maintaining the integrity of the shield.

Look the guy is a nuisance and despicable. Fire him and there is at least the possibility that the NFL can recover. Anything less and the league continues its downward spiral.

  83. I absolutely love it. Patriots are so far into every teams heads, and the league offices agenda, they can’t focus on the job at hand. Well, I know that I couldn’t focus on my job if people with electronic or digital detection equipment was being floated around the office, imagine the poor, paranoid, challenged individuals in the jets locker room. Too funny. Patriots rolling through 2015, everyone and everything else, get out of the way.

Except—-apparently, once again, nothing has been found. The only thing we know for sure is these teams can’t beat the Pats on the field so they try to beat them through innuendo. How about the rest of the story? And found nothing. In fact there never has been or never will be. The real fact of the matter is the teams regularly thumped by NE ”

    ——————————————————-
Okay, spygate you got me. But deflategate was a sting and you’re fooling yourself if you think otherwise. That Kraft caved and took the draft picks punishment and fine was a mistake that he has publically stated so and even then said at the time he disagreed with the league’s finding. As far as Brady skating? Will you not agree that Judge Berman said in his opinion that he did not even have to rule on whether Brady did or didn’t? The NFL was so very wrong in every aspect of the crock investigation that was plenty enough to overturn. When push came to shove and Berman pointedly asked if the league had proof that Brady did as he had been accused of the plain and simple NFL reply was no. Your opinion is yours and I respect it. Like you did of mine I beg to differ. And please stop acting as if the Patriots are the only team ever punished for multiple rules violations. That’s just silly. My goodness even your beloved “tide” has been sanctioned multiple times.

That’s right, it’s the NFL “leadership” that got their clocks cleaned in court recently. They’re still trying to validate their actions in DeflateGate. And Roger constantly preaches “Integrity”…he wouldn’t know integrity if it bit him in the rear…

  89. Every other team in the NFL is going to have to start charging the Patriots rent for the space in their heads. How much better could this get? … did that bush over there just giggle?

Guys, the Patriots are slaughtering the league this year.

  90. Hey, league, you sweep Gillette and you find nothing. Now let’s talk about the psi data you’ve collected….why aren’t you shouting to the wind that you have proof the Pats cheated?….oh….because that pesky old physics actually exists….hmmmmm

For all fans of teams out there that can see what’s really happening here, this is not for you, for the haters—THIS is why Patriots fans get “obnoxious” and “arrogant”–if you’re team was put through what the Pats are put through, you’d fight for them too!

  91. Roger “Perjury” Goodell’s NFL is such a pathetic institution. This is going to end badly. To date Kraft and Brady have been absolute gentleman in their effort to protect the integrity of the shield but at some point they will be reaching the tipping point and sue the daylights out of the commissioner and his staff for libel and slander. At every opportunity, from sealing transcripts, to half ass data collection on PSI that is never released, to refusing a reasonable request to certify bug free locker rooms Goodell has demonstrated that he is absolutely terrified of facts and can only operate in the vague gray areas of innuendo and rumor-mongering. Without a doubt the worst sports commissioner ever. And if, as his joke of a brief insinuates, that a sports commissioner was a necessary office predicated on the Black Sox scandal then also one should now conclude that that his repeated conduct detrimental to the integrity of the game implies that modern sport has actually moved past the need for a commissioner. All this worry about the diminishing power of his office (because of bad choices made by Roger Goodell leading lost court cases) is moot: his office itself probably ought to be removed.

No don’t be worried. 🙂 Sit back and enjoy what this team is doing. 🙂

Roger may be the most inept commissioner in sports history but the NFL is not stupid. They surely know if they attempt to pull off a stunt like this the RICO lawsuits and anti-trust revocation would put them out of business. They don’t want that.

  115. OK, just so we’re all clear, other teams have alleged that the visitor’s locker room is bugged over the years, but no bugs have ever been found, and the Pats want the locker room swept before every game, but the NFL won’t do that.

This is pure, unadulterated nonsense. So the rest of the NFL is free to make baseless allegations and the media will report them as though they’re true? That seems fair.

I’m curious, though – when is Goodell’s investigation into the headset issues at Cardinal’s stadium going to begin? Surely, for the integrity of the game, all such allegations of impropriety must be reviewed?

  123. And the witch hunt continues……..At some point the rest of the league will just have to admit;

That Brady is the best quarterback than anyone else in the league and that the team as a hole may not be the “most” talented at every position, but they are better prepared and put in the best positions to succeed by the coaching staff than any other team in the league.

At the end of the year they may not win them all but they will win more than anyone else.

Regardless, Patriots record outside of their division is better than inside the division with BB

  125. Big secret:

This stuff and trying to weaken the Pats with Goodell looking for reasons to do so, is tied to Goodell trying to get the Jaguars into a winning situation in the AFC, to be able to justify moving the Jaguars to London, sooner rather than later.

  134. As long as Belichik is there questions regarding cheating will always hover around this franchise. You know the other coaches know more about the underhanded stuff Bill is pulling.

  135. To the rest of the teams in the NFL–while you’re dreaming up scandals the Patriots supposedly perpetrated (without any evidence)–the Pats are watching film, studying their playbook and working out. That’s why they win. I’m betting that’s why all the unbeaten team win. They work their butts off and tune out the noise.

To the Goodfellas (Goddell and minions) if you indeed care about integrity how about you make it possible for fans to reach and let you know how we feel, Pats lovers and haters alike….how about you actually represent all 32 teams…how about you correct false leaks….how about you play by the same rules you insist the players play by (i.e. Goodell refusing to turn his phone over in the investigation over the Rice fiasco…..how about you hire full-time refs who….actually know all the rules and are held accountable for their errors….how about you (Mr. Goodell) stop lying!!! Just a suggestion….if you really care about integrity.

They only care about the X’s and O’s and what happens between the white lines

This has prompted the Patriots to ask the league to certify before each game that the visiting locker room is clean before an opposing team enters. Per the source, the NFL has declined to do this.”

Yes, and I presume that the NFL accepting to sweep the visiting locker for the Jets, while refusing to do so upon request from the Patriots,
has NOTHING to do with the fact that, shortly after trying to find bugs, the NFL filed their Deflategate Appeal… right?

I mean, certainly they didn’t agree to sweep the locker room solely because, upon finding any bugs, their case would seemingly be strengthened… right?

  140. When you stink of cheating it’s hard to shake the stink. On another note I’ve deflated ten pounds, if you’re interested ask me how !

No, it’s YOUR (and other’s of your ilk) fault.

You and the other losers’ incessant claims of cheating have almost totally ruined respectful competition. I mean, look at the world series: Royals win game one, people accuse the catcher of having an illegal substance on his pads; Royals win game two, people accuse Johnny Cueto of having an illegal substance in his hair.

Nobody can lose now and just move on; there’s always a reason for their failure – it’s not that the other team was better.

  145. That’s what happens when you’re on parole. Criminals don’t get the same treatment. The Patriots have been caught cheating more than all other teams combined. They’re lucky the franchise hasn’t been confiscated.

  146. So let me get this straight – the NFL declined to sweep the visitor’s locker room at the Patriots request (a request they made to protect themselves), yet the obliged the Jets when they asked?

Sounds like just another attempt by the league to sully the Patriots reputation. I have to wonder – if the league did find something in the Jets locker room, would they have publicly disclosed the fact that the Patriots had already asked for the sweep in the first place and that they were concerned about another team trying to frame them? My guess is no.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I Love the game of football, but I hate the NFL.

  147. “If the patriots are ever caught cheating again the coach should be thrown out of the league”….LOL! The only problem is they haven’t been caught yet. “Spygate” was a fine not FOR taping but from WHERE. They paid their fine…Next.

I watched 9 pick plays 3 weeks ago, and only got called for 1. And the worst part is that go to the sideline and laugh about it, number 80 said “did you like that Pick” and started laughing. And the fans are the worst, you love them so much because they are doing this and not getting caught.. Shame on you and the NFL for letting this get so out of hand. The owner, qb act so humble, but the are just big a**holes. I wish them nothing but the worst and I feel that they will get it soon……

The Jets never asked for a sweep and made no excuses. They lost, period. People getting on the Jets for this are ridiculous. I hope the Patriots are undefeated heading into week 16.
    ———————-
I hope you’re right. If the Jets didn’t do this, they should be madder than the Pats are right now. Bowles has done an amazing job with the Jets this year and they’re the only team I think has a chance to beat the Pats this year; but, they don’t need the Patriots to have extra incentive to win the rematch….and if this was the NFL, they just gave it to them.

  150. The funny thing is I bet they didn’t even think to check the cellphones. (not that the Patriots would have access to it… but OTHER people do)

Guess they haven’t heard of the Smurfs yet.

  151. The heater vent…doesn’t go to the furnace, it goes straight to Belichick’s office. Look all you fools want for bugs, they don’t use them.

  152. So to shield your team from such accusations, you formally request that the NFL electronically sweep the locker room and when they refuse such a request, its a virtual green light to do so.
    ===
That’s insane. All it takes is the league accede to your cover request, to sweep, to discover bugs, and the jig is up. You’re also ignoring that the league DID sweep and found nothing.

every team in the NFL that go that crapy razor blade stadium should ask the same thing

Crappy stadium? Please! I don’t think so. It is acknowledged as one of the better venues in the league. In addition, it was paid for by the team owner and not foisted off onto the backs of the local taxpayers as is the case in many other stadiums.
And New York? That stadium has to be shared by two teams, and is built on a swamp in another state.

  154. The only reason the NFL would decline that request from the Patriots is if they were intending on planting a bug and framing the Patriots.

Roger Goodell needs to go to jail.

  155. I watched 9 pick plays 3 weeks ago, and only got called for 1.
    ===
Every team runs pick plays. Every. Single. One. They’re a staple of modern offensive football.

And guess what: they’re always legal if you’re within a yard of the LOS, and might be legal beyond that – assuming the RXer doesn’t go out of his way to block.

  156. You can’t make this stuff up – this is priceless.

I can’t wait until MY Pats win the SB – AGAIN and Roger the dodger presents the trophy to Robert Kraft. RK takes the trophy, eliminates the handshake turns away.

    I can’t wait.

  157. NFL just admitted that the Jets did not ask for the locker room to be swept. I apologize for my previous post rescinding my kudos and respect for the Jets….I re-issue them!

Not all pick plays are illegal….wishing someone the worst…is the worst.

  159. “Its actually a brillant strategy on the Patriot’s part. You have a history of cheating but have yet to be caught bugging the opposing locker room.

So to shield your team from such accusations, you formally request that the NFL electronically sweep the locker room and when they refuse such a request, its a virtual green light to do so.

I suggest the only way the Patriots are ever going to get caught (and this applies to Deflate-gate too) is if someone on the inside flips and divulges the methodology. But that would first require someone in New England to have an actual moral compass, a virtual impossibility.”

The level of paranoid delusion in some of you is breath taking.

  160. Hey Robert Kraft, these are your 31 “partners” and the shield you wanted to defend in agreeing to those excessive deflategate sanctions. How’s that working out for you? This is a joke and I hope Appellate Court laughs Goodell and his lawyers out of court.

  161. I love how this is the nfl’s fault for doing their due diligence on the biggest cheats in the league. They are trying to prevent this awful franchise from being allowed to continue cheating. It has nothing to do with being jealous. Yes the patriots have won but they cheated to get there. Their cheating history is absolutely going to cause future investigations as it should!!! Patriots fans are so naive it’s embarrassing

  162. These isn’t much competition is the NFL LEAST. It ain’t over yet. But look at what they’ve earned. A cheating reputation.

    >>>>>>>

You are absolutely correct…two words personify the level of preparation the Patriots put into games:

    “Malcolm, GO!”

  165. OK…. so every team is paranoid the Pats are cheating at home. That they can’t be that great. So they must be cheating. If that were the case, wouldn’t they go out and lose on the road because they couldn’t cheat??? I mean come on. Yeah, they are great at home, but they still destroy teams on the road, so obviously they are just pain GREAT!

Please read the full story. No accusations or excuses were made by Todd Bowles or the Jets. They never asked the league to sweep the visitor’s locker room.

  167. Sueb45 no its not embarrassing if they did cheat. If they had been caught at the time then they should be punished! Unlike you if my team cheats i don’t try to ignore it. Cheating Is pathetic and shouldn’t be tolerated. Patriot fans are so biased and naive it’s sad. Anyone caught cheating deserves Tue punishment they get.

  169. Let the NFL do sweeps and there will be bugs found that they placed themselves.

Love it. Belichick and the Patriots are in teams’ and fans’ heads. They are so lost, they don’t even realize the Patriots are controlling weather, play with super shoes, and most incredibly play better than other teams, causing them to win more.

But there is no proof that the Patriots cheated (except spygate)….We took the punishment for that and admitted it. We didn’t, did NOT, deflate footballs….there’s the difference. Judge Berman: (and this is a quote) there is no evidence that Mr. Brady deflated footballs or that he asked anyone else to deflate footballs” Mr. Nash, does the Nfl have evidence that Mr. Brady deflated footballs? Mr Nash: No your honor, we have no evidence…..(judge laughs)….this is really what happened.

  171. letsgobuffalo4 says:

Wow, great point. ONE other team had a bigger scandal and it wasnt even in the same sport. So the Pats have the TWO biggest cheating scandals and fines in the history of the NFL- does that make u feel better about it???

    ************************

Apparently you didn’t hear about the fine and draft pick losses the Broncos and 49ers received for circumventing the salary cap in their Super Bowl years back in the 90’s……

Last time I checked, cheating with regards to WHO was on your roster had a lot more to do with the outcome of games than filming coaches signals.

But in all seriousness it was proven in interviews with Tony Dungy, Peyton Manning and Mike Vanderjagt that the Pats DO bug the locker rooms. How do so many of you ignore the facts? Funny how you homers never mention Brady testing positive for steroids either. Pathetic

  173. The latest- the NFL has stated this is done “regularly and randomly”. SO, has anybody ever heard of it being done before? Or is the NFL (gasp) LYING?

Simply because Dungy and the Colts were paranoid about bugs in the locker doesn’t mean it is “proven”. And Peyton has never said anything about this because he isn’t a classless, excuse making loser like his old coach.

Brady has NEVER failed a PED test. That was joke by Opie and Anthony you soft headed dolt.

There has NEVER been a bug found in Gillette stadium.

You people have completely lost your minds.

If you’re going to cite those articles, you would do well to actually read them. Dungy SUSPECTED bugs and the Colts swept and found nothing. Guess what that means? By Occam’s Razor, there were no bugs.

It’s pathetic that you accept the paranoid fears of others as fact when the outcome of their own actions proved that their fears were in fact paranoid.

  177. I love the consistent thumbs down by like 4 or 5 people. I mean who are these people? Must be the usual suspects; you know the cheater cheater cheater guys. LOL! Get back on the short bus people!

  178. Yes, the Jets, Colts and Ravens have to find new excuses as to why they lose to the Pats. It’s interesting that the NFL refuses to sweep for bugs if the Pats ask for it, but will if opposing teams ask for it. It’s almost as if the NFL wants teams to place bugs and then blame the Pats. Goodall is dragging this game into the gutter, along with Irsay, the Ravens and Jets.

The jets paranoid and pathetic losers

the article actually states that a source indicated the jets did not ask for the bug sweep. further proof that pats fans are delusional

  180. Why is Don Shula being praised? He was accused of and was actually named in a lawsuit (along with Mike Holgren and Wayne Fontes) as coaches who would tell players they would be cut from the team if they did not take the painkillers and keep playing
“NFL teams and their medical staffs withheld information from players about the nature and seriousness of their injuries, while at the same time handing out prescription painkillers, anti-inflammatories and other dangerous drugs to mask pain and minimize lost playing time.” They also contend prescriptions were filled in their names without their knowledge
This lawsuit alleges intentional activity by the teams, not negligence,” attorney Steve Silverman told the AP after he filed the lawsuit on behalf of the 13 players. “It’s another part of a unified effort to provide health care and compensation to the thousands of former players who have been permanently injured or died as a result of playing professional football.”
To me that is far worse than any bogus claims made against the Pats. I cut and pasted part of an article written by Kevin Nogle posted on 5/22/15. If anyone should have an * by his name it should be the coaches involved in that.

  181. Seems Patriot fans think that because Brady hasn’t payed a price for deflate gate that it didn’t happen. Fact is the Patriots suspended their own employees for their rolls in the handling of the footballs and Bellicheck accepted penalties from the league without a fight. It was a practice that people in the Patriots organization were carrying out and next year when New England is without a draft pick you’ll remember.

  182. Hate breaking this to ya but the NFL called for the Pats to dismiss the equip guys. If not the why do the Pats have to ask the league to reinstate them. Kraft took his licks under protest he made that clear. That is because he wrongly trusted that Goodell was on the up and up

Seems Patriot fans think that because Brady hasn’t payed a price for deflate gate that it didn’t happen. <– As much as you would like to believe that Brady did something (anything) that you crazies could hold him accountable for, you're wrong. There is no price to pay because he didn't do anything!

Fact is the Patriots suspended their own employees for their rolls(sic) in the handling of the footballs and Bellicheck(sic) accepted penalties from the league without a fight. <– Wrong again – the league did the suspending thus the need for the request to the league to reinstate them. Also, not Bill Bellichik but owner, Robert Kraft accepted the penalties to put an end to it and because ultimately the employee should not have used the rest room with the footballs in his possession. That being said, try this… take a bag of 24 footballs dump it out, pick up each one and just touch the valve, (you don't even have to attempt to insert a needle & measure pressure) and then put it back into the bag – twenty-four times – keep in mind you have 90 seconds. Not possible. The guilty parties here are the officials who didn't do their jobs and check the damn pressure prior to the game!

It was a practice that people in the Patriots organization were carrying out and next year when New England is without a draft pick you’ll remember. <– Please try not to choke on your sour grapes and do enjoy the revenge tour! 😉
