Jim Bob Cooter era off to a promising start for Lions

The Jim Bob Cooter era has begun, and it was a solid start for the Lions.

Cooter, who was elevated to offensive coordinator last week when the Lions fired Joe Lombardi, did a very smart thing with his first play calling the shots: He called a pass to Calvin Johnson. The Lions’ offense has often seemed to forget about Megatron this season, but Cooter has to know that Johnson is his best weapon.

The second play of the Cooter era was even better, a 32-yard run by Joique Bell that was the Lions’ longest run of the season.

Unfortunately, Detroit stalled in the red zone, as a third-and-10 pass at the line of scrimmage went nowhere. But Detroit still ended up with a field goal and a 3-0 lead over the Chiefs.
