Vernon Davis on trade chatter: “It’s a possibility”

The trade deadline is coming, and 49ers tight end Vernon Davis has been mentioned many times as a guy who could be dealt.

After Sunday’s loss to the Rams, Davis acknowledged there’s a chance his 10-year stay in San Francisco could be coming to an end.

It’s a possibility; you know there’s nothing I can do about it,” Davis said, via Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee. “I’m a positive believer. I believe everything works its way out for the good for those who are good people. But I’m always prepared for anything. Nothing new surprises me.”

Plenty of contending teams could use pass-catching tight ends, including both of the teams that play tonight on Sunday Night Football — the 6-0 Packers and the 6-0 Broncos. But it’s never easy to get a skill-position player up to speed on the fly during a season.
