Amendola isn’t bothered by never-ending cheating suspicions

AP

As the Patriots continue to win games (most of them convincingly), some assume that the only explanation is that something improper is happening. Which has led to suspicions of bugged locker rooms and other improprieties.

Patriots receiver Danny Amendola joined Wednesday’s PFT Live on NBC Sports Radio, and among the questions asked was whether the never-ending suspicions of cheating bother him. Amendola said it doesn’t bother him, at all.

He also talked about plenty of other things, including the performance of Tom Brady at age 38, Amendola’s role on the team, whether he’s thinking about the Patriots going undefeated, and whether he’s seen guys slip and fall on the concrete surrounding the field of the team for which he used to play — the Rams.

  1. Steelers and Jets gave them a hard time.
Other than those two though they have played great.
However, the Bills, Jaguars, Cowboys, Colts and Dolphins are not top notch teams.

Neither are the upcoming Redskins, Giants or Bills.

Denver will be though. 1 game.

Then Philly, Houston, Tenn, Jets and Dolphins.

Yes, they can go undefeated in the reg. season.

  2. Of course he isn’t bothered, the Patriots* have created a culture of cheating and if your a team player, you buy in, you ignore it, and you keep quiet about it. Why do you think future HOF Reggie Wayne backed out? He is not a cheater. He has class and morals.

  3. We all know:
    the patriot way= cheating.

If they are playing, they are cheating; that being said they are so good this year that they don’t need to cheat to win. And that pisses me off.

  4. Of course he’s not bothered by allegations of Patriots cheating. Cheating is part of the air they breathe.

  5. OK, here we go. The first person to write the word “hater” in the comments of this story wins a free thesaurus. You’ll spring for that, right Florio?

  6. Between the court evidence and Brady’s performance, has anyone else ever been proven wrong as convincingly as the deflate gators? The only candidates in the running are the flat earthers and Marxists, and neither of them had a global computer system at their fingertips to give them contrary proof in 2 seconds.

  7. Amendola has really come into his own this year. When he signed with the pats to be the new Welker I feel like he was a bit thrown off when that spot went to Edelman. However, you can really tell that now all he cares about is winning whatever role he has to play.

  8. Never a huge fan of this guy over Welker.

But he’s certainly walking in his footsteps. Especially in talking to the media.
Great receiver. Great at ignoring distractions.

    See you in February.

  9. Spygate was a dumb move with meager value on game day. Debt paid to society.

Deflategate is a whole lot of wishful thinking and innuendo mistaken as fact. Goodell had to be impaired in some way when he strategize a process to justify his predetermined outcome.

Multiple NFL franchises can’t take care of their on business, because the Patriots are in their head.

Fact is the Patriots play professional football at a level that is the envy of the league. You know – offense, defense, and special teams under the same conditions, and twice the scrutiny.

They play for excellence that is hard to achieve. They know they can do better and keep trying.

When they lose, it’ll come out of nowhere. Won’t be in the playoffs.

  10. The most fitting and perfect end to all this noise would be #5 coming in SB 50…..followed by a Thursday night kickoff to the 2016 season in Foxboro vs the Seahawks!

  11. Most interviews with Patriots players and management are relatively uninformative. This one fits that mold well.

With that said, I don’t think the players SHOULD be bothered by the suspicions.

There will ALWAYS be fans from other teams who believe the Patriots cut corners. Doesn’t matter what the current accusation is. There will be posters on this site and elsewhere who passionately believe the Pats are automatically guilty.

There will also ALWAYS be defenders who say the Pats success comes from excellent players, coaches, and hard work.

You will NEVER get agreement on this. So ignore it, and go out and play football. It’s got to be the best decision for a player to make.

  12. As much as Kensil in NFL HQ DeathStar would like to revive this dead horse, its time to move on. Even if the Pats cheated– and all evidence said they didn’t- they would be hyper-careful now. Tin foil conspiracy types might want to look at helmet or discipline issues, instead. Or maybe that’s why this DOA issue keeps being dredged up by PR ferret Goodell…

  13. 1. WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

What would you do if someone in your family were accused and deemed guilty based on “ASSUMPTIONS AND DATA THAT IS UNCERTAIN” (Wells Report)? Could you accept that???

    FACTS:
    1. Colts had deflated footballs – page 8 Wells report.

    2. Brady requested that all persons be placed under oath and the NFL tried to seal this fact (transcripts). Thus under oath, the NFL admitted that they DID NOT know anything about the Ideal Gas Law (IGL).

    3. Patriot’s record last 24 games: Won 22 .. Lost 2.

    4. Since the end of the first half of FrameGate: Brady 26 Touchdowns, 3 Interceptions.

    5. Fumbles since FrameGate: research it, non-Patriots’ fans will be disappointed.

Would you accept a guilty designation based on “ASSUMPTIONS AND DATA THAT IS UNCERTAIN.” We can understand your frustrations. However, this is AMERICA and King Roger IS NOT bigger than our great Country! The Missouri Supreme Court, in a separate case, stated in May, 2015: ….“the terms of the contract designating the NFL commissioner, an employee of the team owners, as the sole arbitrator with unfettered discretion to establish the rules for arbitration are unconscionable and, therefore, unenforceable”.

In the future, a best-selling movie will FOREVER PRESERVE the disgraceful actions of the current NFL office.

  14. The fact they’re still throwing stones simply means we’re still on top!

You hate us cuz you ain’t us!

  15. Obviously. He’s one of the many kept in ignorance who sell the lie so well. It’s part of the plausible deniability scheme.

  16. There are 3 types of nfl fans (aside from the pats) this year:

Fans of teams that have lost to the pats and probably been humiliated

Fans of teams that are going to lost and probably humiliated

Fans of teams that weren’t good enough to meet the pats in the playoffs, but at least they don’t have to suffer through a defeat and probably humiliated.

The 2015 pats middle finger tour

  17. It’s interesting that the undefeated defending SB champions are talking only about this week’s game vs Washington, while the Steelers at 4-4 and coming off an important division loss at home are talking about “running the table”.

Could it be any more clear what it takes to be successful in this league?

Why can’t guys like Mike Tomlin and Rex Ryan understand it?

  18. Clearly the Patriots are in PFT’s head & fans alike.

a brilliant strategy when you think about it.

Danny has made some highight reel catches the past few games.

  19. The pathetic accusers are now sounding like tiny little chihuahuas at the end of their little pink leashes barking their tiny little heads off at the Great Dane that barely notices them but could have them for lunch any time it chooses.

  20. So, people continue to assume that the Pats are cheating? Just like we’ve recently heard that “for years” teams have suspected bugs in the visiting locker room at Foxborogh.

Oh, except the NFL swept the locker room for bugs and didn’t find any, and the Patriots have apparently asked them to do so voluntarily.

The “Patriots cheat” mythology is built on rumor, innuendo and baseless allegations. If they’re cheating, prove it. Simple as that. We’ve seen how well that goes, even with the full bias of the Jets 2.0 head office.

Otherwise, it’s all just sour grapes.

  21. The clueless patriot fans and their fan boy media can’t figure out that fans around the country don’t have any respect for that cheating organization.

  22. Love that there are so many true believers who still thing “Deflategate” was a thing.

If there’s one thing that you can learn from a discussion of sports, religion or politics, it’s that Americans, in general, are stupid. Science is essentially irrelevant to probably 75% of all Americans.

Reason and logic are rare commodities, particularly among the hate-filled.

  23. Why do you think future HOF Reggie Wayne backed out?
    —————-

Because he is old and played for a soft team.

The Patriots aren’t a soft team, which is one of the reasons they are consistently good.

So, an old veteran from a soft team going to a hard team? In the immortal words of Sweet Brown, ain’t nobody got time for that.

  24. The bottom line is when you have been winning as long as the Patriots other team fan will hate on you.
Beside spygate which they admitted too, there has not be one shread of evidence they’ve cheated. They just continue to kick most Teams @ss and the theory is they must be doing something to be this good, that’s it CHEATing.

It’s actually funny that the Patriots are in these other teams and fans head so much.

  25. Funny how all these people claiming the accusations bother Pats fans.. I’m a lifelong fan and they don’t bother me one bit. Why would it? It was legal for teams to videotape the opposition, the issue was the placement of the camera for one game. Really?? I’m not losing any sleep over that.. Lol
Jeez I still can’t believe how it’s considered the scandal of the century. What does bother me is that we should have six rings instead of four.. 🙂
Go Pats!! Tom Brady GOAT Hoodie GOAT

    @aybctr475

” it seems suspicious that their defense got better after losing Revis, Wilfork and Browner. ”

You make an excellent point. However the Patriots, with the #1 drafting of Malcolm Brown and return from IR of former #1 Damien Easley, are very deep at the DT position and Wilfork would not be receiving much playing time this year .

In the secondary, the Patriots have thrown Malcolm Butler, free agent Justin Coleman and Logan Ryan to the wolves with mixed results. Some games are better than others, and there’s been some glitches. None are Revis, but collectively they’ve held the fort. Since they’re all young, one would think that they will continue to improve throughout the season.

    lol. This is so funny.

    So sad.

I can’t do anything except laugh and shake my head at the ridiculousness of what people try to drum up haha.

Defensive stats are pretty much what they were last year , 8th in PPG last year and 8th so far this year, they have vaulted from 13th in yards last year all the way up to 11 this year. The main difference is the improved pass rush. Middle of the pack last year in sacks, 2nd this year.

not suspicious at all if you know football. A good pass rush helps your DBs. And losing Browners 30-60 penalty yards every game hasnt hurt either.

  29. The outright jealousy displayed on these posts is downright hilarious.

As a Pats fan, I eat it up knowing how much the Pats are in your heads. Big smile every time I read your desperate nonsense.

Keep focusing on the artificially manufactured “controversies” and you will prolong your existence as losers.

  30. Funny that you middle school kids that know nothing but name calling by using the word “cheater” never have cite any proven FACTS to back it up.

    That really tells it all.

  31. we’re onto Washington…you got proof that anything happened…didn’t think so, so you and your team should be onto week 9

New England revisionists aside, Judge Berman did not rule Brady innocent, rather he said the NFL’s process was flawed.

Facts are in 8 years 2 hefty fines and loss of draft picks for cheating, employees suspended (including the “Deflator” though reinstated at first opportunity. )

  33. What a horrible year for people that hate the pats. They had dreams of the pats finally being taken down and its become their worst nightmare.

When brady and the pats hoist the lombardi this February, I hope the emergency rooms across the country are ready!

  34. To this day, whenever I see Amendola’s name, I think of that kick return as a Ram where Lion’s Zack Follett absolutely crushed him.

    Pain Train, choo-choo!!!

  35. Couple of Broncos defenders get popped for PEDs, playing some of the best D in the league for Peyton… give Wolfe Defensive player of the whatever. Where are the cheating accusations for Denver?

  36. I have one suggestion to the fans, players, and coaches that are green with envy of the Patriots. Look at Rob Gronlowski. The guys wakes up very day loving life. It is a much better way to live than choosing to hate and being envious.

As a Patriots fan, I find the organized smear campaign against individuals like Brady and Belichick to be disgusting but those guys use it as motivation so all is good.

  37. In the beginning of a change the patriot is a scarce man, and brave, and hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot. —Mark Twain

  38. I think i can speak for most Pats fans in saying its a compliment that other teams are so far below the Pats that they think hard work and preparation are no way to be successful… the only way is to cheat. Which says more about them than the Pats.

Its also hysterical hearing grown men accuse others of “cheating” when they lose.

  39. “New England revisionists aside, Judge Berman did not rule Brady innocent, rather he said the NFL’s process was flawed.”

You’re trying to wiggle yourself out of this with doublespeak; it won’t work.

The process that they used to determine that Brady was guilty was ruled to be flawed. Therefore, he was deemed innocent (based on the facts and the process) by a Federal Judge.

  40. Every time I see a comment that indicates feeble minds believe the cheating meme I smile.

It’s enough for me that the Pats are making these folks look more foolish by the day simply by beating their team but the fact that they respond like 5 year olds just makes my week.

  41. Its also hysterical hearing grown men accuse others of “cheating” when they lose.

Grown men? In Haternation? Perhaps the age limit of 12 to reside there refers to emotional age.

  42. The candidate in the lead for the Republican nomination does not believe in evolution and thinks the ancient Egyptian pyramids were grain silos. Americans, as a whole, put their faith in what they want to believe, not what logic dictates. You have people that believe 15 years of consistent winning is not the product of preparation, hard work, and execution but rather a system of cheating that has escaped detection. Like their belief in angels, they don’t need proof because they have faith. Haters, don’t worry, you will have super bowl pie in the sky when you die.

  43. The individuals in the media and affiliated with the teams that have accused the Pats of cheating are not smart enough to realize that all of the talk they do is adding fuel to the fire. It gives the pats something to play for when other teams have no added motivation. The lack of intelligence can also explain why none of the accusing teams have won a super bowl in years and are clearly frustrated.

  44. Wow look at all the crybabies here who keep saying “cheaters.” Judt accept the fact the pats own your teams and real estate in your heads.

“Cheaters” lmao what a bunch of clowns who are new to football

  45. And we are spouse to believe this cheater. Get back to “not preparing” for your upcoming opponent.

    Nice Freudian slip, cheater.

Really..that is the reason Wayne is not a Patriot. Could it be it was too hard for him. He is the one who chose the Patriots. They did not come begging him to play for them. I believe it was a mutual thing prior to him being cut.

I am a Jags fan (insert comment here). I really cannot stand all of this crap coming from colts fans. Jealous much. Let it go.
