Although Giants tight end Daniel Fells is recovering from the MRSA infection that ended his season and likely his career, he’s still not out of the woods.

Fells revealed on Instagram that he has had another surgery for the infection in his foot. That’s the eighth time he’s gone under the knife.

Despite the life-threatening nature of his infection, Fells is keeping his spirits up, joking on a caption to an Instagram picture of his doctor, “We gotta stop meeting like this Dr. B.”

The 32-year-old Fells has had a long career in the NFL, spending time with the Falcons, Raiders, Buccaneers, Rams, Broncos and Patriots. He started for the Giants in Week One of this season, but grew very sick with the MRSA infection that badly damaged his foot. He’s now just hoping to live a normal life, and he’s likely to need at least one more surgery to assist toward that goal.
