The 49ers added two running backs to the roster last week and it appears they are adding another one this week.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the 49ers will sign Travaris Cadet to their roster. Cadet worked out for the team on Monday and would join Pierre Thomas and Shaun Draughn as new members of the backfield. The Niners also have Kendall Gaskins and Carlos Hyde, who is battling a foot injury, with Reggie Bush and Mike Davis on injured reserve.

There was some thought that Cadet could make his way back to the Patriots after Dion Lewis’s torn ACL. Cadet spent the preseason and the first couple of weeks with New England before being released to make room for linebacker Jon Bostic after the Pats acquired him in a trade with the Bears.

Cadet spent the last three seasons with the Saints and caught 38 passes for New Orleans last season in his most productive offensive campaign.
