Patriots work out Pierre Thomas, Robert Turbin

The Patriots are talking about an expanded role for James White now that they’ve lost Dion Lewis for the season, but they’re also looking at other running backs on the open market to see if someone might be a good fit for their offense.

According to multiple reports, the team worked out Pierre Thomas and Robert Turbin on Thursday.

Thomas spent a week with the 49ers before being released on Tuesday when they signed former Patriot Travaris Cadet to round out their backfield. He ran four times for 12 yards in their victory over the Falcons. He didn’t catch any passes, although that was a major part of his game during his eight years with the Saints and would seem to be the most pressing need for the Patriots in the wake of Lewis’s injury.

Turbin was dropped by the Browns this week after playing three games for them. He landed in Cleveland after being waived by the Seahawks and recovered from an ankle injury to get a spot in the lineup, but two fumbles helped put him back on the street this week.

  1. If I had a dime for every player the pats have in for a look see every week if not every day I wouldn’t have to work anymore. In other news the sun will come up tommorow…….

  2. Thomas is actually the better fit. Good receiver. Have to wonder what is left in the tank.

But, there are very few examples of BB picking the waiver wire and that player having much impact. If White doesn’t spit the bit, neither guy will have a job…….

  3. Chipwood, you blithering troll, glad to see you are OK. You missed a couple of Patriots related posts and that’s so unlike you.

Well anyway, good to know you are well. Pats fans all over the nation would miss your unsubstantiated, untrue, and insane screed. These articles wouldn’t be the same without you to laugh at.

  4. Call it what you want patfanken but Belichick been caught cheating at least once. And it’s gong to happen again. I understand your mad, but don’t be mad at me bro. Patriot fans laugh at me. Everyone else laughs at patriot fans.

  5. The Patriot way is to release a player as soon as he is arrested, unlike some teams that put up statues of those who plead guilty to obstructing justice in a murder!!

  6. In response to jchipwood most players in the league are willing to take less to play for one of the greatest dynasties in nfl history.

I know that makes you cry, get your hanky ready forwhen the pats hoist another Lombardi this February!

In response to the first poster…..it’s hard to find someone willing to cheat.

But it’s not hard to find the jealous fans of other teams. (Chippy is a Dolphins fan)

  8. Without mentioning any names, it is interesting to see guys that ragged on Brady all summer and said the Patriots wouldn’t even with the AFC East, and who went into hiding as their teams folded and the Patriots kept winning, are slithering out in anonymous posts to tear down the Patriots. The Patriots hear none of it, they just go week to week, winning games. Our 38-year-old quarterback is looking to win back to back super bowls and the boys in Miami are wetting their adult diapers worried the Pats might go undefeated. And he will keep winning for years to come.

    It is morning in America.

If you ever run out of Pats fans to laugh at you don’t worry, Giants fans do too. BTW real Giants fans respect real Pats fans and to paraphrase the commercial, we’re part of everyone else

Aaron Hernandez played some RB, right? Just sign him back as he’s a pats fan favorite & fine example of the Patriot way

  12. Pierre Thomas can do it all, run, catch, screens, and really a decent blocker. That he is still out there surprises me. What happened to him?
