Michael Vick says Jones “absolutely, definitely” starting for Steelers

Landry Jones

Even as both teams listed their usual starters as questionable Friday, there might be some clarity in regards to the quarterback situations for the Browns and Steelers Sunday.

Friday afternoon, ESPN’s Adam Schefter and the Cleveland Plain Dealer‘s Mary Kay Cabot tweeted that Johnny Manziel will start for the Browns.

In Pittsburgh, Steelers quarterback Michael Vick said Landry Jones will “absolutely, definitely” be the starter and Vick will be his backup.

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette writer Gerry Dulac tweeted that Roethlisberger is “progressing ahead of schedule” but there’s “no chance” he plays Sunday. The Steelers are off next week, so that makes sense in addition to matching what Vick said.

Roethlisberger was a limited practice participant Thursday and Friday despite being a longshot to play. He suffered a foot injury in last week’s win over the Raiders and was replaced by Jones, who’s in line for his second career start Sunday.

Manziel also started last week. If he starts Sunday, it will be his third start of the season and the fifth of his career.
