The Buccaneers churned the roster Tuesday, releasing a four players total.
The team announced they had waived linebacker Orie Lemon and safety D.J. Swearinger from their active roster, and defensive back Akeem Davis and linebacker Quayshawn Nealy from the practice squad.
No immediate replacements were announced.
Lemon and Swearinger were special teamers, so it won’t be a huge loss. But it’s still a remarkable fall for Swearinger, a second-rounder by the Texans in 2013. Teams were lining up to claim him in May, but he has failed to turn into the kind of big hitter in the NFL he was at South Carolina.
