LaRon Landry is reinstated by the NFL

If anyone is looking for a veteran safety, there’s another one now available.

Safety LaRon Landry, the sixth overall pick in the 2007 draft (one spot before Adrian Peterson), has been reinstated following a 10-game suspension for violating the PED policy. It was Landry’s second violation.

Drafted by Washington, Landry spent five years in D.C., one with the Jets, and the last two with the Colts. He’s currently free to sign with any team.

Landry appeared in 11 games with six starts for the Colts in 2014.

  1. When somebody comes back from an extensive PED suspension, there has to be a question about how well he can perform without the PEDs. Or – given the increased testing he will face – how long before he is expelled?

    One pick before Adrian Peterson?

You have to think that GM wishes he/she had that one back.

probably more than one GM regretting that one (ex-GMs too)

  3. We were absolutely SHOCKED, shocked I tell ya, that Landry was caught pumping himself with roids!

  4. He was good his rookie season with Sean Taylor mentoring him but after Taylor passed away he seemed to lose focus and has never been the same since.

  5. I loved how the Colts started this walking chemical lab while claiming other teams were cheating. Jets West.

  6. Colts fan here….no way do you want this guy on your team. First, he’s one of a dying breed of hard hitting safeties that can’t cover worth a crap. The game has passed him by. The Colts improved a lot by getting rid of him and signing Dwight Lowery (no world beater by any means, which says a lot about Landry). Secondly, he cares more about being a gym rat and looking “swole” than he does about football. Look at photos from his rookie year, and compare them to recent Instagram pics. He is a Mr. Universe wanna-be.

  7. Landry is the perfect example of why Ryan Grigson and the Colts’ fan base/media are whiny hypocrites in general. Crying about “integrity of the game” in a 38 point beat down when they got a multiple time rule breaking safety who consistently used PEDS that had no business playing in that game. It’s obvious this clown was juicing before the AFC championship and not a peep about it. How about Indy mans up like the NYG and just play football and quit making excuses.

Give it a rest. How many other teams have had players suspended for PED use? Plenty. Landry did his time last season and was eligible to play (not that he really did much) in the AFCC. He was then popped again and cut. The Colts gave him a 2nd chance and he blew it. And if he was juicing it sure didn’t result in much on the field. Dude was a bust. At least Grigson, who I can’t stand btw, didn’t kill the cap with his deal. And last I checked, the Colts did man up and play the Pats this year, pretty tough until the worst special teams call ever.

  9. He will play for the Cowboys, I have no doubt about that. And I echo the above comment, DC does not have a football team. Why is an NFL “expert” confused on such an easy topic?

I’m having a hard time understanding this love-hate thing with Ryan Grigson. It’s appearing way too often to just be about football. It’s actually kind of creepy. Sounds like an ex-lover who’s been scorned.

  11. To tell you the truth, he might be better without the PED’s… cause he was horrible WITH them. I feel like his best year was his rookie year….but he can probably thank Sean Taylor for that.

  12. Laron Landry may be the first player in NFL history to be drafted by a college team in 2007.

I had no idea the Huskies took him one place ahead of Adrian Peterson.

  13. He was better in DC his rookie year when he had ST there to teach him and by the end of the season looked like a solid safety but then offense learned he falls for double moves and pump fakes worse then when you play fetch with your dog in the back yard. Even after a couple of times even your dog gets you’re messing with him..
