Chris Matthews came out of nowhere in last year’s Super Bowl, and the Seahawks just sent him back there.
According to Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports, the Seahawks are waiving the wide receiver, after he failed to build on the promise he showed last year.
Matthews had 109 receiving yards and a touchdown in the Super Bowl last year, but just four catches this season.
He failed to carve out a role in their offense, and the fact that Paul Richardson injured his hamstring last week and they still made this move is a clear sign they weren’t pleased with Matthews’ development.
