Maybe the Buccaneers should have picked up Doug Martin’s fifth-year option, after all.
The fourth-year first-round pick, who’s playing out the final games of his rookie deal, is having a game for the ages. Martin has 174 yards on 11 carries in the first half, with plenty of time to add to it.
Martin’s performance includes a 58-yard run and an 84-yard effort — setting a franchise record.
For the season, Martin currently has 880 yards. He could finish the day with more than 1,000 for the year — and more than 300 for the game.
