Vikings strengthen their playoff position with win in Atlanta

In a battle of two NFC playoff contenders, the Vikings looked like they’re postseason-ready, while the Falcons looked like they have some problems.

The Vikings’ 20-10 victory showed that Minnesota has a good defense and running game, a formula to win late in the season just the way Vikings coach Mike Zimmer wants. And the Falcons’ loss showed that Matt Ryan throws into coverage far too often for a quarterback who’s been in the NFL as long as he has.

Minnesota running back Adrian Peterson topped 100 yards for the NFL-high sixth time this year, giving him a total of 48 100-yard games in his career, the most among active players. Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater didn’t have many big plays, but he was efficient as a passer and got rid of the ball quickly. It was a solid effort from the Vikings’ offense.

And it was a spectacular effort from the Vikings’ defense, which took advantage of some poor decisions by Ryan. The Falcons missed running back Devonta Freeman, although Tevin Coleman filled in well enough with 18 carries for 110 yards. The downside for Coleman is that his fumbling problems continued; Vikings linebacker Anthony Barr made a great play to chase Coleman down and knock the ball out of his hands at the end of a long run.

Overall, the Vikings looked like a team that can win games in the playoffs. Minnesota is 8-3 and in first place in the NFC North.

The Falcons, on the other hand, looked like a team that will struggle to make the playoffs. Although they’re still in prime position to earn a wild card berth at 6-5, the Falcons are stumbling down the stretch. If this was a playoff preview, only the Vikings looked like they belong.

  1. Great win by the 1st place Vikings

Atlanta played us tough but Adrian found a way.

Vikings sitting alone in 1st place in the NFC North!

  2. The Historic Minnesota Vikings overcome adversity again.

    Everyone counted us out.

We clearly showed today we have the best team in the NFL, and it’s not even close.

Adrian Peterson is the best offensive player in the NFL.

Mike Zimmer has transformed the our entire Defense to the best in the NFL.

We have no flaws in our entire roster.

The Dynasty is here to stay.

The Decade of Dominance is in full motion.

Multiple Super Bowls are coming to Minnesota, bank on it.

Let the Purple and Gold Confetti Fall.

    Recognize Greatness.

Meanwhile the Green Bay Packers are sinking down to the bottom of division.

You can’t help but laugh at them.

    Skol.

  3. Vikings win, GB loses. Vikings on top of the division, GB is not. All is once again right in the world of football!

All those that say Bridgewater is a bust, please take your foot out of your mouth!

I will admit I had hoped we would get a wild card this year, but fudge bars to that, lets take the division instead and make the road to the super bowl go thru Minnesota!!!

  4. Top 5 Teams in the NFC:

    1. Minnesota Vikings.
    2. Carolina Panthers.
    3. Arizona Cardinals.
    4. New York Giants.
    5. Washington Redskins.

    999. Green Bay Packers.

  5. Seems like the weakest link on the Vikings is Bridgewater. They’re good at everything but even against a suspect Falcons pass defense didn’t take a single shot downfield and maybe one pass beyond 10 yards without YAC.

They’re good and can win games the way they are playing, as their record clearly shows. It just seems they will run into a wall if a team can neutralize the run and dump off pass game.

  6. SKOAL! Go Vikings. Peterson really smacked and swiped his way through the Falcons D today. GOAT!!!

  7. AD crumples up the #1 rushing D and the Vikings defense shuts Atlanta’s passing game down with Exum and Blanton playing safety. Barr is on tbe verge of being a star, all over the place all game long. Vikes all alone in 1st place. Winning while barely throwing, good way to keep TB upright.

  8. And we can say now that TB is better than Matt Ryan and one leg guy in the east, the yellow n cheese. Watch when we get oline to protect Bridgewater. Vikings overcame so much adversity due to 2 oline being out. We are next men up team. Packers, not so much.

  9. Remember this summer when the Vikings were going to be last in the NFC North? Remember when the Packers were going to have the North locked up by October? Remember when Minnesota was going to begin a 3 game losing streak in Atlanta? Has there ever been a fan base more wrong here on PFT?

And then you have Mr. Telekinesis admonishing another Bears fan of looking stupid on here and making Bears fans look bad of all things!

    Fun funny stuff.

Stop living in the past, Packer troll.

  11. Suck on that, Patriot fans! Teddy doesn’t need to CHEAT to WIN. He’ll have 6 titles in 7 years. SKOL.

  12. My, oh my. Look at how things change in a week.

With the Packers back down to earth, and the Vikings showing up for a tough game on the road — the Vikings are in firm hold of first again.

A couple observations from the Atlanta game:

Norv Turner. I said it last week after the Green Bay game and I’ll say it again: he’s the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde of this Vikings team. At times he shows his brilliance, and at times he makes me yell at my television set. Picture this: nearing the end of the 2nd quarter and AP is running at will against the Falcon’s defense. AP comes off the field for a 3rd and 8 at the Falcon 18, and we *handoff the ball to McKinnon* for a gain of 4. C’mon man. Why stall the drive in the red zone with a play that my 8-year nephew wouldn’t call? Total headshaker.

Blair Walsh. Sorry, but Walsh is now a liability. I don’t expect a kicker to make every field goal over 50 yards, but he should do better than 50%. I know kickers don’t grow on trees, but do whatever it takes to challenge this guy.

Minnesota defense. Shutdown. Totally overwhelmed Atlanta today and it was a joy to see. The last touchdown the Falcon’s got was in garbage time, regardless of how they acted like they won the game afterwards. Julio Jones was nowhere to be found. Kudos to Captain, my Captain, Rhodes, and Exum Jr. Oh yeah, and Barr is a total beast.

First down playcalls. As AP was a total monster today, this might seem nit-picky, but why do we have to hand-off to Adrian 10/10 times today on first down? It’s so laughably predictable, I just imagine if we did something out of the ordinary and mind-blowing, like, not run the ball.

Keep this train rolling through the difficult side of the schedule..

  13. The only reason Matt Ryan was drafted #3 by the Falcons is that he’s NOT Mike Vick. The dude is terrible. It’s a joke that he still has the starting job.

  14. I truly beeour good games like today is who the Vikings really are. Games like San Francisco and Green Bay are a young team losing focus occasionally. Once we get more games under their belt, I believe we will rise to a Championship consistency. Plus another good draft and free agency to fix our oline.

  15. Nice win, but this offense needs to learn how to put teams away. Right when they have their foots on the other teams throats, they pick it up and allow them to breathe again.

Bridgewater needs to learn how to read a defense. The kid shows great poise, but can’t make a big play to put a team away. Until either he does that, or we get a QB that can, I don’t see the Vikes going deep in the playoffs.

AD is still the best, haters can hate all you want. The fact of the matter is that you all are jealous because your team has NEVER had a RB the caliber of Adrian Peterson. #dealwithit.

Nice solid effort by the defense. Without Harrison Smith, and a banged up LB crew, and they still dominate. Just another example on how GB was handed everything last week. As every team who has played Green Bay, it’s hard to play against a team and the refs and win. So now you just have to take care of business with what you can control.

  16. Beat the Seattle at home next week and we’ll have a 2-game NFC North lead….it’s a given that Detroit will beat Green Bay at home. SKOL VIKINGS!

  17. Meanwhile Packer fans are crying into their 13 ancient titles and however many hall of famers….LOL, how’s 7-4 going Pack fans?

    8-3!!!

  18. cheeseisfattening says:

Has there ever been a fan base more wrong here on PFT?

You’re going for “wildly humorous irony” there, correct?

  19. Nice win by the vikings, look like a playoff team, weakest link on this team is TB he might finish with under 12 td throws on the yr, running team or not he is shaky so let hope the defense can hold each team to under 17 agame because this offense is not not meant to put up more then 20…on to next week

Oh geez we have the packers reached that part of the season where they give up and start talking about the past?

Checking packer fan manual…blame refs, we beat ourselves, video games…ah yes here we are…start talking about prior accomplishments when all hope is abandoned.

Should we congratulate Carl and give him his due based on his grandfathers accomplishments?

  22. The Vikings believe in themselves – probably the biggest takeaway from this game for me. Good win against a good team in a hostile environment. The sign of good things to come!

Thanks Gerby..I was waiting for someone to pull out the Packers comfort blanky

  24. Great game for a Vikings fan. I’d feel a lot better if they were a bit better at stopping the run. Teddy needs to trust himself and not wait too long to throw the ball. And lastly 1st place in the division is awesome, but I’m not going to troll Packer fans who won handily last week…

  25. Barr and Kendricks are studs who will be fun to watch for a very long time. This defense if they can get a complimenting safety to Smith, and another solid Corner, this team could be flat out dominating on defense.

  26. Vikings stepping up in the face of a schedule that gets tougher.

Meanwhile, packer fans danced with glee claiming their schedule gets easier and easier.

How’d that work out for the pack?

  27. Turner finally started calling some quick passes rather than try to get Teddy killed with 10-step drops. Teddy suffered from yet another dropped touchdown pass, this one by Adrian, who I guess we can forgive since he ran the ball extremely well. Defense was lights out until for some reason they drop into a prevent at the end of the game. You go the whole game shutting a team down by playing your regular defense, then you change things up at the end because you don’t want them to score?

Overall, a great game but they’re going to need to figure out how to score more points if they want to win in the playoffs.

  28. Never would’ve figured the Vikes would lead the NFCN heading into the 12th game of the season. Solid game by the D, the Vikes O-line, and of course AP. I thought they’d pick on our safeties with Smith out, but Ryan sure has regressed at QB. Glad to get this win with two very tough games ahead.

  29. OK so the Vikes are in first. Great. Yeah, whatever.
Until they actually beat Green Bay in a more meaningful game, or actually win the Super Bowl, that gives them bragging rights.
Sheesh, the Vikings trolls need to calm down.
The season isn’t over yet and anything can still happen. Pack can come back and the Vikings can still fail.

  30. Yawn.

Either of these teams would lose by 60 to the World Champion New England Patriots.

We drink your tears, Crybaby Nation.

Maybe one of these teams will be lucky enough to be the lamb led to slaughter in SB 50.

While we cannot prove your measly teams had anything to do with bountygate, we must presume your guilt and destroy you. Pray you don’t sneak into the Super Bowl.

    Go Patriots.

The packer fan manual says that in times like these you MUST bring up past championships to soften the blow.

Please tell us more about the past…please.

  32. Looks like the refs gifted this one to the Vikings. First Viking scoring drive was aided by a questionable pass interference call that aided scoring drive. This call came on 3rd down of all things.Vikings fans said last week that such calls were a tell tail sign that the game was fixed. Atlanta had 7 points wiped off the board on a questionable clipping call far away from the ball. The refs travel with the Vikings. Did you see mike Wallace and Stefan diggs joking around with that official at the end of the game ?

I’m sure everybody in Minnesota signing up to give this undeserved win back right ?

  33. Falcons are a bad team that is led by a mediocre QB. It is delicious seeing this faux contender exposed for the disgusting team it truly is. It took the Redskins to show what a fraud this team is.

    Jealous Much, Cheesehead?

  35. With this defense and Peterson, the Vikings could go far.

Teddy’s just not growing as a passer. He’s far too timid and second guesses on timing routes. His play has really slipped from last year. He had under 10 TDs through 10 weeks and has a nearly 1:1 TD:INT ratio. That just isn’t good enough!

  36. The season isn’t over yet and anything can still happen. Pack can come back and the Vikings can still fail.
    —————-
Exactly. It would be stupid to claim the Vikings have already won the division. They could still not finish in 1st in the division and then you would end up looking stupid. I am very sure Packer fans now know what I am talking about.

It is great to see nobody on here claiming the Vikings have already win the division title at this point.

  37. The Vikings are winning games despite having ZERO belief in their QB. Which is good, for them but we all know how hard it is for the Vikings to be succesful when you can take away the run game like GB did last week.

You can make the playoffs with a team that can run well and not trust the QB the Vikings proved that with Ponder, but if you want to win a Lombardi that is certainly something you need. Even if its Dilfer, or Brad Johnson, you still need them to make plays down the stretch.

  38. I knew when they were the only team smart enough to hire Zimmer as a HC that they would do well.

  39. Nice road win by the Vikes. Vikes O-Line CANNOT pass block….Teddy has an inverted pocket on every drop back….but they obviously are run blocking alright. Keep it going boys!

  40. Great win Vikes! Not sold on Bridgewater though. Somewhere we will need the deep ball. To me he’s our weak link! Maybe next draft use a mid round pick on. QB.to develope??

    —————–
Does that include playing WITHOUT the Packer’s refs? i.e. hocholi and his flunkies.

  42. If the Vikings make the playoffs they will sink like a lead balloon unless Teddy can throw some TDs. The offense can’t be all about AD if you want to be a contender.

  43. “The Historic Minnesota Vikings overcome adversity again.

The Vikings have yet to over come adversity since being in the league. They have been failing to win a Championship for 54 years. Enjoy your easy fluke wins, your team isn’t even overrated because they’re not good. Waste of an NFL team!

Meanwhile, your team, that had been 6-0 ihas lost 4 of 5.

I don’t fear our week 17 matchup. I look forward to it.

  45. It’s funny, not a single Heidi fan had a problem with the officiating today.
Despite the fact the refs took an Atl. touchdown off the board on a piss poor clipping call, nor a significant phantom PI called their way.
What can the Falcons do when the Vikes got the refs in their back pocket?
    #thefixisin

Can you say Hypocrites? Of course not, you’re Viking fans!
You embarrass yourselves daily just by putting fingers to keyboard.

Great game Minnesota Child Abusers…..’er..um, I mean, Minnesota Petersons.

I’m just pulling out a few golden oldies from all of you Purple Paste Eaters.
    Hilarious, aint it?

The good news is that Green Bay still controls their own destiny in the NFC North.
With a 17 point beat down mere week ago, I honestly don’t see anything changing.
And I’ll be betting on the Green and Gold when the dust settles.

  46. Good win against a pretty good team. Nice to see the Vikings forcing turnovers — they are not good enough to dominate teams, they need to win the takeaway battle too.

I’m not ready to anoint them. Too many penalties, O-Line needs a string of good games (today was better) and Teddy doesn’t have the killer instinct yet. But he made a few plays today that lesser QBs would not have been able to make.

8-3 is good. Much better than 7-4. But I still predict 10-6, and a playoff berth. To win in the playoffs, they still need to get a lot better.

  55. “After a week straight of complaining about not getting any calls, can someone acknowledge that Minnesota got the calls in this game ?”

I do feel the right to cast judgement as I have raised two children and I never laid a finger on either one in anger. Believe me when I say that they have committed many transgressions way worse than Adrian’s son did. They have grown up to be exemplary adults. On the other hand, Peterson’s child will likely grow up to be a psychopath that will perpetuate the domestic abuse that his father has taught him.The man is a monster and deserves to be in jail, not getting a slap on the wrist and earning millions of dollars as a public figure. I’m sure you will change your tune the next time he holds your team hostage for an even larger contract that will decimate your salary cap. It’s disgusting to me that the NFL, their teams and their fans continue to support these violent criminals. And yes there are even present and former Packer players that are also guilty of similar crimes. I do not give them a pass either, but at the same time I don’t believe any of them has been convicted of beating a young child’s bare buttocks and testicles with a wooden switch until he was bloody. There are some things I cannot forgive and I stand by my original statement.

  60. “The good news is that Green Bay still controls their own destiny in the NFC North.”

That was a true statement for every team in the division before the season started also.

It still is true for the Vikings today.

The Vikings are 4-1 in November. The Pack is 1-4.

I’m not predicting that the Vikings will win out, but if they do, it doesn’t matter what your squad does.

Your team won their Super Bowl last week and then laid a turkey egg on Thanksgiving.

Try winning two games in a row before claiming control of your own destiny.

The Packers are probably the most unique team in the NFL right now and to be a fan does carry a certain level of pride based on their long and storied championship history.
The Packers had a long stretch of loser years in the 70s and 80s but since they won the third SB, they are back to winning ways.
No, they won’t always be on top but there is a lot of faith that they will somehow find their way back up there especially with who he have as QB.
They are not like other teams who have just gone to one SB and where it looks like their glory years may never come back.

Great game Adrian Beat-your-son. You’re a fantastic football player but unfortunately a scum-bag of a human being.

Not really considering he’s your entire offense and should have been getting 3 hots and a cot for the next 3-5 years. He he was the face of my team, they wouldn’t be my team.

  68. Packers will lose 3 of their last five, Vikings will win at least 3 of the last five…..Stick a fork in the Packers. Guessing the Bears will finish in 2nd in the North.

  69. John Galt

Quality post from a Packers fan.

That’s highly unusual around here and I sincerely wish that more of the Pack fans would follow your lead.

    Go Vikes!

  70. The packers will have a chance against Detroit this week. They’re playing away from home. It seems that the high concentration of packer fans seems to have an adverse effect on the score. It’s like the fans make them lose.

  71. Packer fans, with the exception of maybe one or two on this thread, are just plain idiots.

You spout off every game about how great you are, only to lose again.
Then, it’s the 13 world championship crap, that has no bearing on this season.

Next up for the vikes, it’s Seattle at home.

  72. Some of you fools are setting yourself up for disappointment. Remember Vikings are the cream of the crop in terms of Chokers! Choke city, watch and see.

  73. Watching Seahawks vs Steelers right now and I can’t see how the Vikings can stop the Hawks. Their defense isn’t the legion of boom anymore, but that offense is clicking. Not the same team the Pack faced in September. All I can say is good luck, you’re gonna need it.

  74. Maybe we finally had the refs make some favorable calls for us. Actually, this is the first game I remember where I wasn’t SCREAMING at the refs. Now I know what other teams feel like when they get fav calls.

  75. Some thoughts from a Viking fan:

Nice to see the defense get some turnovers for a change. Anthony Barr was fantastic, and Antone Exum played well enough to earn a start next to Harrison Smith going forward. The defense played solid for most of the day, but there were a few more holes than I would have liked to see. This unit keeps improving as the season progresses.

Offensively, Peterson carried the team again. I wish Norv Turner would let Teddy Bridgewater cut it loose more often. It’s not like TB can’t throw for 300 yards in a game; he’s done it several times. That early INT seemed to spook Turner, but plenty of excellent QBs have thrown INTs today. But they did what they needed to do to win, and that’s all that matters.

That said, the passing game, (and the pass blocking) are going to have to show up next week if the Vikings are going to defeat Seattle. The Seahawks have the defense to bottle up Peterson and dare Teddy to beat them throwing the ball. I think he can, and if Turner lets him, he will.

Try winning two games in a row before claiming control of your own destiny.

    ——————————————————————–

There’s no boasting in that statement and its not a matter of “claiming”. Its just a statement of fact, not sure why that should be considered controversial or incendiary. Relax.

  77. This division isn’t going to be won in November, so maybe take a moment Viking fans and relax.

Theodore needs to be trusted more, if he is as good we heard all offseason.

  78. The fact of the matter is mropinionguy can’t reconcile his butt hurt feelings with the standings in the division. He is still in shock of losing to the Bears and the Lions at home. He’s nervous, because Erin and the boys are going to Detroit and he doesn’t think the pack will win.

  79. Good game by the Vikings

-Anthony Barr: great display of his exceptional talent. He’s had a good season & we can finally shut the door on the naysayers who had thought he was a reach. Great pick by Spielman!

-Secondary played pretty well. Going in without Harrison Smith was very disconcerting. Exum played well.

-Oline: I don’t know what they did different to prepare, but this group looked a LOT better today. Holes were there for AD & Bridgewater was not under too much pressure.

    1st place baby!

  80. The fact is clear. Teddy B has regressed from the strong play to end last season. He does well on the short to medium route when he gets rid of the ball quickly. He can lead well. His deep ball is an INT waiting to happen or an awful overthrow. The dude can’t throw deep and that is essential to score fast from far. It’s not needed when the Vikings control the game but if they get behind by a couple TD’s it almost as good as lost. Hope he can fix that. He needs too.

  81. It’s hilarious to hear Packer fans brag about Super Bowls and Championships..
They’ve won 4 Super Bowls in like 50 years.. Lol
It’s even more ridiculous to bring up winning Championships from over 60 years ago.. You morons weren’t even born yet!! Jeez talk about living in the past.. 🙂

  82. Of course the Vikings should have won.
The Falcons aren’t a very good team.

They fattened up on the Titans (without Mariota), the Cowboys (without Romo), the Texans (with Ryan Mallett), and the Giants, Eagles, and the Redskins.

They are now 1-5 in their last 6 games. Prior to losing to the Vikings, they lost to the Saints, Buccaneers, 49ers, and the Colts.

Not exactly murderer’s row here, in either their wins or losses. The Colts and Buccaneers beat the Falcons on their home field as well.

The Vikings are by far the best team they’ve played this year- and they should have crushed them.

It’s becoming pretty clear that Teddy Bridgewater is a caretaker QB.

Not impressed. No one should be.

  83. How nice to know that Viking fans are so happy to have a self-admitted child abuser back on their team.

Vikings’ fans can talk going 0-4 in Super Bowls, getting crushed by the Giants, missing a critical field goal against the Falcons, AP’s 2 fumbles and Favre’s pic in NFC Championship games, setting up the Cowboys in the Herschel Walker trade, or not making a Super Bowl in almost 40 years.

I guess that’s why Vikings’ fan don’t like the past.

  85. Carl Germ

And let’s remember who has 4 Super Bowls and 13 World Championships.
    )))))))))))))

The only franchise to count NFL championships packers no other team does it. Not the Browns, Lions, Bears. Just the packers because 4 SB isn’t enough to be called title town. Well you aren’t title town, nobody calls you that. Not in Pittsburgh, Not in Dallas or San Fran. Give it up carl you are pretending.

  86. packer lost to the Bears at home Thursday . And are currently in 2nd place but all the packer trolls want to talk about is their SB win over the Vikings last week.

  87. The Packers are probably the most unique team in the NFL right now and to be a fan does carry a certain level of pride.
    ))))))))))))))))))))))0))

Owned and operated by the NFL

  88. Haha. 12 hours after a vikings victory and 3 days after another failure at home. The trolls are still out chirping away on Viking treads.

Face it, your team just isn’t that good. And when you build your team around 1 star for 5 years, when he doesnt play well, the lack of talent on your team is painfully obvious.

  89. Vikings fans saw the Packers declared perennial NFC North Champions by every NFL pundit on the planet…in MAY!!

They all said that as long as Aaron Rodgers is under center, tha the Green Bay Packers OWN the division.

They all pointed out that the Packers #1 passing offense was what was going to propel them to win the NFCC.

They all said that the Packers could not lose to the Lions or the Bears at home.

They all predicted 5-7 wins total from the Vikings.

THESE ARE STATEMENTS OF FACT WHICH REQUIRE NO COMMENT TO BE AMUSING…HILARIOUS, IN FACT.

  90. Frank B aka Tokyo defending the packers today as usual. He defends them day in day out but says he is a Bears fan OOkay frank b

  91. Does that include playing WITHOUT the Packer’s refs? i.e. hocholi and his flunkies.

    ))))))))))))))))))))))))

What do you expect Hoculi was born in Milwaukee.

  92. This thread sure has a lot of comments for a non-divisional regular season game. Seems like Viking fans come out of the woodwork when they start winning. Absent after the Vikes let them down…like they have for 54 years.

I can’t wait to watch the Packers pummel the Vikes again and put their season in it’s final resting place. Then I can look forward to the bandwagon fans who light this place up all of a sudden after an 8-3 start go back to nothingness where they belong. With only the occasional, “Everyone in Wisconsin is a fat hick” talk, showing the arrogance and true colors of these awful human beings. Especially when their entire state flocks to Wisconsin on the weekends for fun, or to go to college.

Your time has come 53 straight years. It’s coming again, and very soon.

  93. Gotta love these Viking fans talking trash against the Packers, who are 10-1-1 against the Vikings this decade.

Very solid points and I don’t disagree with anything. The only thing I will say that contradicts a little of what you posted is about Teddy Bridgewater. Though his passing hasn’t exactly impressed he has the escape ability that allows the Vikings to win games. It’s a big deal. He has been sacked a lot this year. No doubt but without ability to escape pressure he’d probably be sacked twice as much if not more as he has. That’s pretty impressive because when I see other teams with horrible OLines such as the Dolphins and watch Tannehill get sacked over and over again it makes me happy the Vikings have Bridgewater at times. I do wish he would progress on his deeper throws to make the offense more powerful. Until then, I don’t believe the Vikings will go far into the playoffs. Just my two cents.

  95. ESPN has Bridgewater’s QBR at 82.6; Rodgers’ QBR was low 20’s. Bridgewater faced a team with a winning record; Rodgers faced a team with a losing record. Bridgewater travelled; Rodgers was at home.

    That must sting.

Comparing 2 players over a single game is silly.

And comparing Bridgewater to Rodgers or any other elite QB is just plain dumb.

Rodgers has the best QBR ever over a single-season. He has the 10th best season as well.

Teddy is barely average right now. Even Cutler is better than him right now. He was last year as well.

Agreed. I would hope Cutler is and was better than him since he’s been in the league several years. Cutler is having a decent season regardless of the Bears record. They are no pushover like many people thought they would be.

Going back to Bridgewater. As I stated earlier he hasn’t exactly lit things on fire. He has his good points and not so good points. He still has a lot to prove as far as I’m concerned. What I will say is I don’t like the fact Turner took the ball out of his hands yesterday. Yes, I think if AP is working, keep feeding him. But there was one particular play that told me a lot. The Vikings had 3&8 and driving. AP was on the sidelines which is fine especially on passing plays. But why call a straight up handoff up the 0-hole with Matt Asiata? That is definitely a circumstance to give Teddy the ball and allow him to try and get the first. To me, it was basically a way to get a couple more yards to make a closer FG attempt. I didn’t like the call and it said a lot about Turner’s confidence in Teddy (or lack there of).

Teddy’s earlier INT in the endzone may be the reason why Turner called that play. I don’t know. The INT was a horrible read by Bridgewater. The pass was on target however, he didn’t read the Safety and that concerns me.

Another poster mentioned the fact Bridgewater only has 8 passing TDs this year. This is something that is also concerning. To his credit he’s had 4 for sure TDs dropped by receivers (2 from Rudolph, 1 by Wallace and yesterday by AP). Even if they were all caught, that would make 12 but still not so great after 11 games.

  98. It’s becoming pretty clear that Teddy Bridgewater is a caretaker QB.

This is the all time funniest comment I’ve ever seen when you consider its from a fan of a team with Aaron Rodgers who hasn’t thrown a contested pass in his entire career, the ultimate check down QB, the biggest stat padder in the history of the league. But when Aaron is a caretaker, it’s smart football. LOL.

    Not a Packer fan.

My guess is that that is not the all-time funniest comment, he has thrown contested passes, and he’s not the biggest stat-padder in the history of the league. When people speak in absolutes like that, it’s a warning sign that they have no clue about what they are talking about.

Rodgers is known for zipping the ball into tight places when a receiver is well-covered, and he’s hardly a check-down QB what you’re doing is just saying the same things that the Packer fans have said about Bridgewater. If you want to rag Rodgers on his comeback ability and big games lately, that’s fair.

I get it if you’re saying those things to get under Packers’ fans skin. But if you truly believe those things, you’re football stupid, and you’re just embarrassing yourself.

And yes, Teddy is a caretaker right now. Maybe not in the future, but that’s what he is right now.

And left there when he was 8, and has been in Arizona ever since. My guess is that he was moved to a secret underground lair in the desert and then trained as a “sleeper” ref for the Packers.

You should get to work on some of the other referees now and determine what their tie is to the Packers. Good luck and be careful, Sherlock. You may just blow this conspiracy wide open.

  101. The Falcons aren’t good. Teddy Bridgewater looks awful. The defense is great and AP is running like crazy, but that won’t work in the playoffs. Teddy has to mature and score points. he has a good WR group. He can’t be afraid to throw picks, he has to take some chances down the field.

Agree and disagree. Bridgewater doesn’t look awful. He actually does a real good job considering his OLine is awful and he’s running for his life just about every time he steps back to pass. Like I stated earlier, he hasn’t lit anything up and still has a lot to prove but his escape ability helps this team whether or not it’s documented statistically. He misses passes he should make. I get that. He had a very poor read on his INT. But all in all he does pretty well considering the OLine is one of the worst in football. But when it comes to this team succeeding it’s defense and AP. Unfortunately, they will have difficulty going against elite teams unless the OLine and Teddy step up during those games. This week is one of those games against Seattle. Regardless of Seattle’s record they are a darn good team. They are having the same issues the Vikings are with their OLine. The difference is Wilson can make pretty accurate throws on the run better than Teddy can. His escape ability is pretty darn good too.
