Receiver Mike Wallace continues to underperform during his first year with the Vikings. He’s not yet complaining about that.
But he is complaining about a recent rash of penalties called on the players covering him. Last Sunday in Atlanta, he drew a pair of interference penalties for 39 yards and a defensive holding foul, for five yards and a first down.
“That’s not the same as a catch,” Wallace said. “When you have zero catches, you need those yards.”
Wallace has had zero catches in three of the last five games. For his entire career prior to that, he had two.
“We’re winning football games, so at the end of the day that’s all that matters,” Wallace said. “I want to catch the ball, but it’s cool.”
It wouldn’t be cool if they weren’t winning. And if they stop winning, look for Wallace to complain about more than drawing penalties.
