Buccaneers tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins has been cleared for contact, and if his shoulder is OK through Saturday he will likely return to action Sunday when the Buccaneers play the Falcons.
“He has been cleared. It’s a big step,” Bucs coach Lovie Smith told reporters Friday. “This is as advanced as he’s been, as far along as he’s been in a long time. We’re encouraged. We’ll see what happens Sunday.”
Seferian-Jenkins has missed the last nine games. Rookie quarterback Jameis Winston has yet to play a full game with the Bucs’ top receiving trio of Seferian-Jenkins, Mike Evans and Vincent Jackson.
Smith said defensive tackle Gerald McCoy remains “limited” with a hand injury and will be listed as questionable. McCoy had “a small procedure” on his hand earlier this week.
