Tyler Eifert unlikely to play this weekend

AP

After leaving last Sunday’s comfortable win over the Rams with a stinger, Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert said that he thought he would have been able to return to action and that he’d “be fine” when asked about his status moving forward.

Things haven’t quite played out that way, however. Eifert missed all three days of practice this week while working through his neck injury and has been listed as doubtful to play against the Browns on Sunday.

While the team will certainly miss a player who has scored 12 touchdowns this season, they should feel confident about their chances of scoring points without him while facing a defense that won’t have cornerbacks Joe Haden or Justin Gilbert in the lineup this weekend.

Cornerbacks Leon Hall and Adam Jones returned for limited practices on Friday and have been listed as questionable for Sunday. Hall, who has a back injury, was named AFC defensive player of the week after returning an interception for a touchdown against St. Louis and Jones returned to action in that game after missing Week 11 with a foot issue. Safety George Iloka is also questionable due to a groin injury.

  1. We don’t need him this week to beat the dumpster fire that is the Cleveland Browns… Rest him up and get him healthy for when we play an actual NFL team.
————————————————————— The Bengals have gone longer without a playoff win then that dumpster fire lol Congrats on another strong regular season. Hopefully your really good regular season team can find a way to win a meaningful January game this year cause if not all the Bengals did this year is earn some people some fantasy football points (Just like they have the last 4 years)

Right, because you’d rather be a Browns fan than a Bengals fan right now?

  3. 0-4 when it matters What I don’t understand is when Bengals fans brag about regular season success with that awful playoff history as of late. Should you be proud? Absolutely. But to brag… yea that’s hilarious to me. It’s like your content with mediocrity. Just remember these two things Cincy fans… they don’t give out trophies for having good regular season record and know one cares or remember who won the division years down the road. People tend to only remember who wins playoff games.

Completely agree. I’m surprised you knew my fantasy football record. Good on you.

Maybe not right now, but I’m sure in January the bengals will be a much hotter topic of mockery than the browns.

  6. Anyone else find it funny that a Bengals fan needs to
be reminded of their last playoff win? Tell us something
we don’t already know! Like maybe why your team
hasn’t even had the CHANCE to win a playoff game the
last 4 years since you first have to MAKE the playoffs!

And before any Steeler trolls chime in. Name the ONLY
team in NFL history to be bounced out of the playoffs by
the one and only Tim Tebow! That has to hurt about as
bad as not having a playoff win since 1991!

You Bungals and Bills fans are as pathetic as they come.

It’s all about the rings, got any?

    Exactly.

  8. As a Browns fan, I’m disappointed that he’s not playing–I’m hoping the Browns get trounced every game from now until Farmer and Pettine get fired, and the sooner the better. This team has regressed under this regime, which barely seems possible, and the best way to move forward is to clean house. The fastest way to clean house is to post up some miserable losses. Here’s to another wasted, garbage season…

  9. I don’t trash talk the Browns because I really don’t care. Its boring, they don’t have a rivalry, they’re front office is a joke. I have defended Browns fans over the last couple of years because I think they deserve a winner. So Browns fans, don’t come out here and run your mouth because you guys have nothing to brag about it. Be quiet and just put on your ridiculous dawg and go pray for a change

6 Superbowl Titles and 2 runner ups. And the BUNGLES have how many??? And the CLOWNS have how many??? Just get your hat, and your coat, and go home…LOSERS!

You were alive to witness only 2 of them and also most of the players that were part of the SB victories arent with the team anymore. You lost to Tim Tebow. And your team hasnt won a playoff game since 2010 .6 titles doesn’t give you anything today. You’re 6-5 for a reason. Its the NFL,What have you done lately? Oh I love being 9-2
