Mike Zimmer: We’re not as good as we think we are

After Sunday’s blowout loss to the Seahawks, Vikings running back Adrian Peterson said that the team was outplayed and outcoached by the visitors from Seattle.

Coach Mike Zimmer sent a pretty similar message during a postgame press conference that didn’t need many words for him to express how he was feeling. Zimmer said the only positive to take from the game that it was over and deemed “offense, defense, special teams” to be his biggest concern about the team in the wake of the performance. Zimmer also intimated that the team may have gotten too complacent after moving to 8-3 last weekend.

“Yeah, we’re not quite as good as what we think we are,” Zimmer said. “Especially if we don’t play the way we’re capable of playing we’re definitely not as good as what we think we are.”

Zimmer said “maybe” when asked if he saw something during the week to make him think that the team was feeling too confident in themselves, but opted not to elaborate on that answer. Whatever Zimmer noticed, he has to hope that the pounding on Sunday doesn’t overtake the team’s mindset during a quick turnaround before Thursday’s game against the Cardinals.
