Colts no closer to knowing when Luck will be back

Early last week, Colts coach Chuck Pagano said quarterback Andrew Luck will return to practice when he’s “100 percent healthy.” This week, Pagano said the Colts are no closer to knowing when that will occur.

In the interim, owner Jim Irsay told NFL Media that the target for Luck’s return is Week 15, against the Texans. If not Week 15, Luck is expected back Week 16, against the Dolphins.

Regardless of when Luck plays, he has yet to practice after suffering a lacerated kidney on November 8, during a win over the Broncos. The team initially said he’d be back in 2-6 weeks. That was more than four weeks ago.

“[H]e’s been throwing,” Pagano said of Luck. “[He] hasn’t participated in practice. He’s doing his rehab and most of his stuff is with the docs and trainers and then he’ll come out and watch part of practice. I saw him doing some gassers, which was a good sign, during a couple of the periods.”

Luck separately expressed optimism regarding the situation.

“[G]etting better, getting better, feeling better,” Luck said. “Probably increased the intensity [and] the volume of what I have been doing. Definitely trending upward, trending in the right direction.”

He may be trending in the right direction, but no one seems to know when he’ll arrive at the destination. Other than Irsay. Who possibly doesn’t really know, either.

  1. Trinai16: exactly , as we all have heard Roger say it’s about the integrity of the game. Guess that doesn’t apply to the team that broke the rules to ” suck for luck” or that piped in noise!

  2. A lacerated kidney is no joke. This guy is young and already a multi millionaire. Why play the rest of this year? I say, rest up, get healthy and come back next year. In the future, if he wants to get married and be healthy for his wife and kids, that’s the way to go. He seems like a good guy and I would hate to see his future be in jeopardy.

It’s quite humorous how Patriot fans comment something about cheating on every story about the Colts to somehow justify their teams cheating.

this is actually worse than cheating. They put the kid’s life in danger. Lacerated internal organs are not bones or ligaments,,,Maybe that’s what’s taking so long with this “investigation”, Rodger is busy making up a new rule that he can punish the Colts with…”attempted murder of a QB!”
nah we all know nothing will happen to the Colts. That’s the Pats fans point here, not to whine about cheating but to point out the double standards and hypocrisy of it all from our view.

  4. every time that i see andrew luck, he is smiling his ass off.
the colts were expected to compete for the championship. but they might not even make the playoffs. and he is injured.
what is he so happy about?

  5. They never put his life in danger, because there was no cover up or trying to hide his injuries like you are hoping. Sorry Patriots fans, Brady* had his fall guys in the deflators, Luck doesn’t need any because they didn’t try to hide injuries. Same goes with piped in noise. Patriots fans know there team cheats, so they make up things that the liberal media puts out to make a story
