The Falcons ruled kicker Matt Bryant out of Sunday’s game on Friday and then later ruled him out for the rest of the season as well.
The team announced that Bryant has been placed on injured reserve with the quad injury that kept him from playing the last two weeks. Shayne Graham has taken over the kicking duties in Atlanta.
Bryant signed an extension through 2017 with the Falcons before the start of this season so he should be back with the team next year. If he plays out both remaining years, Bryant’s tenure in Atlanta will reach nine years and his overall NFL career will span 16 seasons.
The Falcons elevated defensive tackle Joey Mbu from the practice squad. Mbu gives them additional depth with Paul Soliai ruled out for this week’s game with the Panthers.
