The game-time decision has been made, and it’s not even game time.
Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski has decided to try to play tonight, against the Texans.
Gronkowski suffered a bone bruise in his knee two Sunday nights ago, against the Broncos. It looked very bad at first, but the early news wasn’t as ominous, with some suggesting he wouldn’t miss any time at all.
He missed last Sunday’s game against the Eagles, and Gronkowski returned to practice this week. He’s officially listed as questionable for the game, but he made the trip to Houston — usually a sign that a 50-50 player will go.
Of course, there could be a tweak or a bump or a slip or a hiccup during warmups that caused him to decide to shut it down, especially since Gronkowski previously has said that he’ll play only when he’s 100 percent.
