The Dolphins must have noticed something in practice lately to think Logan Thomas has a future with them, or else someone else did.
The team announced they had signed the quarterback off their practice squad, waiving offensive lineman Jeff Linkenbach to create the roster spot.
Thomas was claimed off waivers by the Dolphins in September after the Cardinals cut him, but he was cut a week later and signed to the Miami practice squad.
The Cardinals gave up on the former fourth-rounder after one season, in which he appeared in two games and completed just 1-of-9 passes.
Thomas is an interesting mix of size and speed, but hadn’t previously shown more than raw material. The fact that quarterback whisperer Bruce Arians was willing to punt on him so quickly might have scared some people off.
But at a time when teams are scrambling for quarterbacks, for now and next season, the fact that the Dolphins promoted a third they don’t have immediate need for (though backup Matt Moore is a pending free agent) suggests someone might have been interested in Thomas for their own roster.
