The foot injury that has sidelined Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning for the last four games has actually been bothering him since before training camp, according to Manning’s father.
Archie Manning told WDSU in New Orleans that Peyton has been dealing with the foot injury since the offseason.
“He went back this year and he struggled again with injury. He really had this foot problem. It’s been going on for five or six months,” Archie Manning said.
That’s surprising, as the Broncos didn’t list Manning on their injury reports early in the season, and talk that he was dealing with a significant foot injury didn’t start until after Manning was pulled from the Broncos’ Week 10 loss to the Chiefs.
Despite the injury, Archie says Peyton may very well end up deciding to play again in 2016.
“Peyton’s got plenty of sense, so when everything’s done at the end of the year he’ll sit down and make a decision. Whatever he does, Peyton will attack it. If he steps down, he’ll find something else and go after it. If he wants to play some more, he’ll go after it,” he said.
What remains to be seen is whether Peyton can get healthy and stay healthy. From what his father says, Peyton hasn’t been healthy in a long time.
