Panthers quarterback Cam Newton might be the favorite for the MVP, but he’s still behind Tom Brady in the popular vote.
The NFL announced that at the end of fan voting for the Pro Bowl, Brady was the top vote-getter, with 701,554 fan votes. Newton was second with 701,086 votes, a difference of just 468 votes for the top spot.
They were followed in the overall voting by Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton (525,638 votes), Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer (514,967 votes) and Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers (510,374 votes).
Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, Giants wideout Odell Beckham, Steelers receiver Antonio Brown, Falcons running back Devonta Freeman and Vikings running back Adrian Peterson rounded out the top 10.
Pro Bowl choices will be announced next Tuesday night, and then divided up into teams via a draft by honorary captains Michael Irvin and Jerry Rice.
Fan voting makes up a third of the total, with players and coaches each counting for a third of the total.
