Arizona linebacker Scooby Wright has announced that he will enter the NFL draft.
Wright, who played an excellent game in Arizona’s bowl win over New Mexico today, told sideline reporter Laura Rutledge after the game that he will leave school and turn pro.
Wright had an outstanding season as a sophomore in 2014, being chosen as a unanimous All-American, Pac-12 defensive player of the year and winner of the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, Lombardy Award and Chuck Bednarik Award. Basically, every award that a linebacker can win, Wright won in 2014.
But this year Wright played in just three games as he dealt with a foot injury. Although Wright is not viewed as a first-round prospect, it’s hard to blame him for deciding after an injury-plagued season that he’s ready to get paid for his work.
