Brees says he’ll have MRI on injured foot Tuesday

AP

Saints quarterback Drew Brees was wearing a protective boot on his right foot after Monday night’s loss to the Lions and told reporters he would have an MRI Tuesday.

Brees completed 34-of-52 passes in the game for 341 yards and three touchdowns. He completed 21-of-31 passes for 231 yards during a wild second half; the Lions won, 35-27, after leading 21-3 at halftime.

Brees, who turns 37 next month, missed a game in September with a shoulder injury but has played since. He carries a big salary cap number into next season, the last on his current deal, so the results of the MRI could have major implications.

The Saints have struggled but Brees is having another big season. He’s thrown at least 25 touchdown passes in all 10 of his seasons with the Saints and is closing in on another 4,000-yard passing season.

  1. Shut him down. He still has good football left in him though I’m not sure the Saints are where he’ll be playing it after this year. He deserves a better end to his career than trying to carry that horrific defense any longer.

  2. Drew got the Chargers payday, the Payton gives him a chance payday (10m per) and the mega payday (19m per). Is the next payday the “hometown discount” one?

If so we could get some better O line guys to protect him and D men to give us a chance at winning…

I know Drew reads PFT religiously so I’m sure he’ll see it.

  3. He can throw for all the yards and all the TD’s he wants but his salary cap hit (remember when he threw a tantrum to get to $21 mil instead of $20 while claiming it wasn’t about him?) is limiting the team from getting any talent on defense. He is the exact reason for the fall of the Saints. The irony of course was that he was the reason for their rise as well.

Drew lost a lot of respect for the way he acted during the CBA negotiations; constantly blabbing to the media, throwing up a number 1 before the opening kick off of the season a few years back. He lost what was left when he got his new contract. Go play QB for the 49ers and let your career die slowly, Drew.

Also, all other fans but the Vikings and Falcons know that the ‘bounty’ fiasco was manufactured by Goodell and his predecessor Tagliabue vacated all player suspensions… FACTS
