Saints quarterback Drew Brees was wearing a protective boot on his right foot after Monday night’s loss to the Lions and told reporters he would have an MRI Tuesday.
Brees completed 34-of-52 passes in the game for 341 yards and three touchdowns. He completed 21-of-31 passes for 231 yards during a wild second half; the Lions won, 35-27, after leading 21-3 at halftime.
Brees, who turns 37 next month, missed a game in September with a shoulder injury but has played since. He carries a big salary cap number into next season, the last on his current deal, so the results of the MRI could have major implications.
The Saints have struggled but Brees is having another big season. He’s thrown at least 25 touchdown passes in all 10 of his seasons with the Saints and is closing in on another 4,000-yard passing season.
