Patriots elevate Chris Harper from practice squad

AP

So what will the Patriots do with one fewer receiver, following the decision to drop Leonard Hankerson? They’ve replaced him with a receiver from the practice squad.

Chris Harper has been promoted as Hankerson has been dropped. The Patriots announced both moves on Saturday, along with the decision to drop tight end Asante Cleveland and to claim defensive back Troy Hill off waivers.

Harper, an undrafted free agent who joined the Patriots in May, has bounced back and forth between the active roster and the practice squad, appearing in three games this season. He was cut most recently after muffing a punt against the Broncos, as the Patriots led 21-7. New England would go on to lose in overtime.

  1. This guy gets zero separation from defenders. Now I’m a diehard patriots fan, but I’ve never seen a guy that has eyes like a deer in a headlight like him.
And when he runs patterns, defenders are so close to him, it’s hard to determine who is who.
God help us… This guy is Lousy! Capitol L!

How many Pats are even in the HOF? Maybe one or two? Y’all got some catching up to do with elite franchises like SF, Pit, GB, Dal, NYG, Chi, Minn, Cleveland,… The list goes on and on. The point is the Pats are anything but elite, they were bottom feeders until they started cheating.

  3. Hey factman don’t worry this crop of players will harvest plenty. As a matter of fact, the people Brady brings with him to the HOF should bring us about even with those current sorry teams you mentioned. Lol

  4. Dang, I left out the Oakland Raiders, historically speaking they’re one of the franchises who helped build this league along with the others I mentioned. Sorry, no disrespect to Oakland, and I hope your team stays put.

  5. The weak discordant yipping of the hateroid chihuahua is music to the ears of Big Dog Pats fans. By all means continue to spew the weak kneed obsessive venom that illustrates how sad your sorry little existence truly is.

  6. From Wikipedia –
Hysteria, in its colloquial use, describes unmanageable emotional excesses.
The term also occurs in the phrase “mass hysteria” to describe mass public near-panic reactions. Hysteria was often associated with events like the Salem witch trials, or slave revolt conspiracies, where it is better understood through the related sociological term of moral panic.

Aside from explaining why a joke is funny , the pleasure in observing the rigidity of self righteous moralizing naval gazing of hysterics has its very own monotonous moments .

    Sigh …

The Patriots player evaluations consist of whether or not they can pass a ploygraph while lying. You pass, you’re a Patriot.

If you persist in echoing balderdash which is self evidentially unstable ; persistently relying on the argument from authority of the hysteric , your not well my friend .

Three to be precise. Of course there’s one thing in common all of the teams you mention have: All pre-merger NFL teams. Of COURSE they are “elite” franchises, although you included Chi, Minn, and Cleveland for some reason who have a combined total of ONE Super Bowl championship. AFL teams have always had a bias against them for players before the merger. More to the point, since only 5 people get INTO the HOF every year (which is somewhat ridiculous with the size of an NFL roster) no team since the merger is going to have a dominance in HOF players.

NE fans think their loser owner can come in the league and run it, you don’t, your franchise has zero historical significance other than being serial cheaters. Learn some respect, and maybe you’ll receive some.

Apparently a few survived and now have access to computers.

    Right factman?

  11. Well said factman66, well said lol lol lol Man looking back during the 80’s and 90’s they were the worst of the worst! They didn’t start winning until Bill PARCELLS brought in the right players and taught that Rag-Tag Team how to win!! ( They Were Truly The Worst Team In NFL History!) Bill Parcells is truly the mastermind! Not Bill Belacheat! It was Parcells that hired him to be Defensive Cord for that NY Team! Actually if it wasn’t for Belacheat riding Parcels Coattails for years all those years? Actually if Belacheat doesn’t ride his Coattails all the way to NE! Belacheat would be out if the NFL! Look at the WONDERFUL job he did in Cleveland! He put together a losing Team, in the Browns! So Pat’s fans, keep it real
Now, keep it real Pat fans! I don’t know if there’s Patriots have a player in the HOF as we speak? Brady will get in when he retires? ( depending on how this whole cheating thing turns out to be at the end?) Moss will get in, but as a Viking… lol lol All you fans are Bandwagon fans! Where were you back in the 80’s and 90’s when they SUCKED????!!!! & boy oh boy did they Suck for like 20 years!

  12. It’s good to see Harper get a second chance to redeem himself. It’s probably his last chance with the team if he fumbles again. Better take care of the ball and another great opportunity.

  13. Not just a bias, the current policy is that AFL players cannot be in the NFL HoF. If they could be Cappalletti would be a first ballot HoFer.

You don’t remember Reche Caldwell from 2006, then? Do yourself a favor and Google Image Search “reche caldwell bug eyes”, puts Chris Harper to shame.

Actually Parcells has a losing record without Belichick as part of his coaching staff. And in Cleveland Belichick had the team headed in the right direction, including obtaining the last playoff win the Browns had. And that win came against, you guessed it, Bill Parcells. Then Modell announced the Browns were moving and everything fell apart.

The NFL Network did an episode of “A Football Life” about those 95 Browns. Well worth watching.

  16. 34defense2014… You’d take Belichick or Brady in heartbeat, during any era, for whatever team you root for, and you know it.

Looking forward to the NFL Network Patriots super bowl highlight marathons for many years. I hope they lead into the “24 Hours of Patriot Dynasty” show with a nice half hour retrospective showing the old stadium, the Sullivans, Kiam, and the screw job your boy Parcells put on them. It will make it that much more sweet.

Also, how many Super Bowls does Parcells have without Belichick?

  17. Man is it great to be a Patriots fan…. The TEAM is great year after year & they have the best coach QB combination re NFL has ever seen…. To be so good for so long in an era of free agency & salary cap that was designed to create parody thruought the league shows how having a great owner& organization from top to bottom is what really matters along with evaluating talent at all areas & levels & holding each other accountable to create this winning formula is so awesome to witness & be a part of is beyond words…
Looking forward to many more years of success & happiness!!!
    GO PATS!!!

Well said factman66, blah blah blah

Tell us what Parcels ever won without Belichick. Nada
And the Pats went to a SB in ’86.should have gone to another in ’78. And they went to another SB in the 90’s. Sure there were some bad years but not nearly as bad as you claim.

We do, he did, 15 years at an unheard of success level, deal with it,

And we have all the respect we need but some will never receive respect 😉

  20. Only need to win one of the two remaining games. No worries can do it week 17. Jests winning doesn’t help Puttsburg, either way Pats win tomorrow!!

  21. Can anybody for the pats tell me why you defensive coach never gets the credit he deserves I’m not a pat fan but I think this guy is great his defenses always have Brady in striking distance I hope you lose him to a head coach job

====================================So now the measure of team success is HOF players? Not wins? Or SB titles? Sorry, but that’s about the goofiest thing you’ve ever posted in an epic career of goofy posting.

  24. What kind of football fan would tout Minnesota or Cleveland, two teams with zero combined SB wins, as more successful franchises than a team with 4 SB wins since 2000? Just read this thread and you will see who…..

I’ve seen him in the few times he’s been on he field this year and I think your assessment is completely wrong. The guy is quick and gets open fast and I think he’s good for about 8 catches on Sunday.
