With their season on the line, Eagles start fast

The Eagles came into tonight’s game knowing their backs are against the wall, and on the opening drive they looked like a team ready to save its season.

Philadelphia received the opening kickoff and marched down the field with an impressive opening drive that ended with a one-yard touchdown run by starting running back Ryan Mathews.

The drive started with Sam Bradford hitting Nelson Agholor for 18 yards and also included completions to Zach Ertz and Jordan Matthews, plus a pass interference penalty on Washington in the end zone.

On its first possession, Washington went three-and-out and punted.

If Washington wins tonight, it wins the NFC East. If Philadelphia wins, it controls its destiny in the NFC East heading into Week 17. It’s a big game for both teams, but it was Philadelphia that came out looking hungry.
