Sebastian Vollmer has an ankle sprain

Sunday’s loss for the patriots included another injury to a key offensive player. PFT has confirmed that left tackle Sebastian Vollmer suffered a sprained ankle during the game.

Vollmer left via cart and was quickly ruled out.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, an MRI currently is scheduled for Monday.

Vollmer is the third Patriots left tackle to suffer an injury this season, joining Nate Solder and Marcus Cannon.

The Patriots face the Dolphins next Sunday in Miami, with the goal of nailing down the No. 1 overall seed in the AFC playoff field.

Vollmer is one of the players the Patriots can ill afford to lose for an extended period. The group that finished today’s game versus the Jets were flotsam and jetsam. They were definitely not a group that could win a series of playoff games. Even with Vollmer (who is playing out of position) the Patriots O line is suspect at best.

  2. Flotsam and jetsam and duct tape and bubble gum. I was hoping they’d just go for two and get the heck out of there win or lose before those guys got Brady killed.

  3. Ankle sprain is good news. With AFC playoff lineup likely being Denver, Cincinnati , KC , Jets and the Texans the earliest Pats would need him would be SB, which is 6 weeks away.

  4. Patriots really need to invest in some new tackles next year – between Solder and Vollmer I can’t decide which one is more overpaid & constantly injured.

  5. Unless he was out there for the OT coin toss his presence wouldn’t have made a difference in the out come of the game

  6. No big deal, right Cheat Nation? Your third string can easily win SB 50, correcto mundo?? Ahhh, as the waves of Karma sweep over your dirty organization, America smiles with contentment.

  7. Really fanboy, karma? You mean as in good karma, right? Yes, since being accused of misdeeds with the ridiculous deflate gate story the Patriots went on to win SB 49, and this year they are currently 12-3 and will very likely be the #1 seed. Also, the Broncos and Bengals have major QB issues, and now the most dangerous possible playoff opponent ( Steelers) likely won’t make the post season. Yes, really bad karma . LOL

You do realize that the Jets looked like the better team today. I’d worry more about the Jets, than a team who couldn’t beat Baltimore.

  9. if the Phins and their franchise QB could only manage 12 pts at home vs the hapless Colt defense, how many will they score against the Pats defense next week?

  10. Jets have no chance playing pats at Foxborough with all their key men back. They won at home in OT with all Patriots key targets missing (Gronk excluded) Both starting safties were out too! If you think this is the team the Jets have to beat in January, you are mistaken.

  11. fanboy you do realize we had 6 starters out, right? worried about the Jets? c’mon dude. All those starters , except maybe Vollmer, will be on the field if the Jets are lucky enough to win a playoff game . They will then face the defending champs, at home, far more healthy, with Playoff Brady. You may recall, but Playoff Brady is not bad, 21-8 post season record, 6-3 in AFC Title games, been to 6 SBowls, won 4. Pats are not worried about Jets in post season , son

  12. @mrmcdougle

You do realize that Brady’s top 3 receiving targets were Martin, Bolden & White?

That will not be the case during the payoffs. Pats have a Bye locked up, and can get HFA with a win against Miami.

  13. Pats were missing some starters but with Brady and Gronk playing the entire game its not as if they were throwing in the towel. Jets and Pats games are usually close (heck it was 17-16 last year) as are most divisional games.

Obviously Patriots would’ve liked to have won but I don’t think the Pats are losing any sleep over this seeing as they just have to beat Miami. Jets won’t get too carried away with this win either with Bowles as the coach. If we still had Ryan as HC we’d probably be throwing a parade.

  14. Bill needs to call the Japan Sumo Association and get a couple big guys he can coach up fast lol

Hopefully its not a bad sprain
