Vinny Testaverde should be getting a call any minute now.
As the shortage of qualified and/or sentient quarterbacks reaches a critical point late in the season, teams are passing around their discards to fill in for practice.
The Bengals announced they had signed Mike Kafka to their practice squad, giving them another arm for practice with Andy Dalton out with a thumb injury and A.J. McCarron’s wrist making his availability for practice this week iffy. Keith Wenning is the only other quarterback on their 53-man roster.
Kafka did some time with the Titans most recently, filling in their practice squad briefly before they found an upgrade in Bryn Renner. The former fourth-round pick of the Eagles hasn’t thrown a pass in a regular season game since 2011.
