Add the Dolphins to the list of NFL teams concerned that the Patriots try to get an unfair advantage.
The Miami Herald reports that the Dolphins took extra precautions to guard against potential cheating by the Patriots when Miami went to New England in October.
Among those precautions was bringing more equipment staffers than they do for most road trips to ensure that no Patriots employee would have any reason to put their hands on the Dolphins’ gear, with the idea that if the Patriots’ staffers did handle the Dolphins’ stuff, they might tamper with it.
Mike Tannenbaum was the Jets’ G.M. when the Patriots were caught illegally taping the Jets’ signals during Spygate. Tannenbaum is now the Dolphins’ executive V.P. of football operations, so he has a history with the Patriots and cheating.
The Patriots play at Miami on Sunday. No word on whether the Patriots will take any extra precautions of their own.
