Report: Dolphins took anti-cheating precautions in New England

AP

Add the Dolphins to the list of NFL teams concerned that the Patriots try to get an unfair advantage.

The Miami Herald reports that the Dolphins took extra precautions to guard against potential cheating by the Patriots when Miami went to New England in October.

Among those precautions was bringing more equipment staffers than they do for most road trips to ensure that no Patriots employee would have any reason to put their hands on the Dolphins’ gear, with the idea that if the Patriots’ staffers did handle the Dolphins’ stuff, they might tamper with it.

Mike Tannenbaum was the Jets’ G.M. when the Patriots were caught illegally taping the Jets’ signals during Spygate. Tannenbaum is now the Dolphins’ executive V.P. of football operations, so he has a history with the Patriots and cheating.

The Patriots play at Miami on Sunday. No word on whether the Patriots will take any extra precautions of their own.

  1. The only unfair advantage the Patriots have over the Dolphins is they are lucky enough to play Miami twice.

    — from a heartbroken Dolphins fan.

  2. Here we go, the play-offs are coming and the bid to distract and destroy the Patriots post season starts all over again.

I have some serious doubts about many things this off season the NFL office being involved in officiating is one and the media again taking aim at the Patriots is another.

  3. Wonder if Peyton took his HGH in the Pats locker room.

Let it go. Nobody cares. The Pata are good because their coach is good and QB an all time great. Not very hard to comprehend.

    GO BIG BLUE!!!

  4. I love fact errors in these stories. The Patriots were caught filming in the wrong location (50 or 60 feet below the new allowed location). There was never any proof they filmed signals specifically, that part has always been speculation. Every team is allowed to film games, just have to film in a specific area. There’s a feature on cameras called zoom, everyone can use it.

  5. They must be on to something. The last time they were in Gillette, they only lost by 29 points.
Imagine what they would have lost by if Tannenbaum didn’t take the extra precautions.

  6. “Tannenbaum is now the Dolphins’ executive V.P. of football operations, so he has a history with the Patriots and cheating.”

…just like he has a history of his own team cheatimg while with the Jets.

This is a cute story, but much like the rest of the accusations, how about meationing if the suspecting team has any evidence that something occured.

  7. Can you blame the dolphins?
I mean, fool me once and shame on you, fool me twice and shame on me.
The sad part is its already accepted around the NFL that the Pats will cheat at every corner, and the league can’t or won’t stop them.
Belicheat should have been banned years ago , but Kraft had pull with Goodell so instead the cheating was covered up. Now everything has been exposed and the league is a mess.
Could Robert Kraft and Roger Goodell please leave the NFL? You’ve both done more harm than good in your respective tenures.

  8. Amazing: Peyton Manning is innocent because there is no proof (even though HGH was delivered to his home).

    Patriots are cheaters. Because……never mind.

  9. What kind of idiotic nonsense is this?

    The Dolphins SUCK!!!

There are college teams that would destroy them, possibly even a high school squad. The Pats have never even been accused of tampering with another teams equipment.

These kinds of “stories” need to stop.

    Absolutely ridiculous

EVERY team takes precautions against EVERY other team.

    Just stop it

  10. Wow this organization just can’t sweep under the rug the stain that has practically become it’s logo of winning irregardless of the means.

Not sure I can ever pull for this team while The current administration is in charge.

  11. Meanwhile Peyton is innocent until proven guilty.

Freedom of the press was supposed to protect us from this sort of thing but the Internet has the world locked in a state of group think. It will be our demise.

  12. What a pathetic organization. No superbowls in….wow, has it been over 40 years? That’s almost Jets territory. If the Dolphins won a Super Bowl but nobody is alive who remembers it…did it really happen?

  13. Ha! Yea spend all week taking precautions and don’t prepare for the game. That is the best course of action. Keep holding onto 1972 Miami. That’s all you have and all you’ll ever have.

Gonna lose all those teams to rising sea levels anyway

  14. Seems everybody playing in New England does these days. People have learned about the Pats and their ways.

Oh yeah and getting the thumbs down from this classless group of fans is an HONOR. Please, have at it.

Here, I’ll even start it off for you…

  15. Blah blah blah. Did the Miami Herald also report that the Dolphins are the laughingstock of the AFC? Their so useless that no amount of free agent spending can make them even relevant?

  16. Lol….
What did they do the rest of the year to ensure they still suck??!!
Was it field an inferior bunch of players & coaches??
Maybe they should focus on the issues closer to home then looking for imaginary reasons for fielding a JV football team…. Priceless!!

  17. So the Dolphins are following the NFL home office template by hiring failed Jets executives.

    NFL home office……unprecedented disaster.
    Miami Dolphins……self imploding disaster

  18. I’m no Patriots fan, but this cheating accusations just need to stop. Spygate, was for illegal filming 8 years ago people, deflation or framegate was incompentent by the league office and a lack of integrity by Roger Goodell. The bottom line is they have a great coach and quarterback and have been winning for the better part of a decade. Everyone want to knock them off their perch or taken them down a peg, samething happened with the 49er of the 80’s who by the cheated on the Salary cap, Dallas of the 90’s. So get over it people have your GM get better players and coaches, then see what happens.

  19. Yet another lame attempt by Goodell cronies to smear the Pats.

    Laughable and pathetic.

Maybe if these teams spent more time on actual game preparation they might win more often.

    SMH

    LOSERS

  20. 36-7…. The dolphins should have concentrated more on scoring more points and letting up less… That always helps when trying to win football games.

    Have to, Shula was right.
    _______________
Is that the same Shula that was involved in tampering and cost the Dolphins a first round pick ?

  22. Miami should be more worried about their inept owner, coach and GM along with Grimes’s wife inserting herself where she doesn’t belong. Amazing how dysfunctional quite a few of these organizations are.

  23. You say Pats cheat at every corner. Spyagte..was allowed the year prior..and the pats were arrogant..and said we are gonna keep doing it..from this spot. Hardly cheating..but wrong..and punishment deserved. Tehy are arrogant. And deflated balls? Come on..thats just a joke..other than that..you say every corner..give me some more examples…spygate was 8 years ago by the way..long over.

  24. Goodell is probably one of the many patriot homers on this site. I guess when your BFF is an owner of a team then your forced to cheer for that team and in this case allow the team to continue to cheat.

  25. And by the way..the patriots filmed from the sideline for 3 games..they illegally filmed…3 games. and its bigger than watergate. Today..theres cameras anywhere..if you have a DVR..you have a bigger advantage than anything from 8 years ago. Theres still the fact that you have to actually pull the play off. I understand that since they filmed for 3 games from the field..that they are tampering with the other teams helmets..and headsets..probably tampered with the weather. Maybe have gps in their footballs..who knows.

  26. Miami’s last playoff appearance was 2008, last playoff win 2000 and Super Bowl appearance 1984. Yep I’d be worried about the Pats. Might want to look at yourselves and how irrelevant you’ve been for multiple decades.

  27. The dolphins didnt even come out and say this, its not like teams do this for press or just to put down the Patriots, they do it b/c its necessary. If a buddy said “i saw your girl with another guy last night” ofcourse im going to believe the best in her and say he must be mistaken……….but if 20 friends all told me she was out cheating, then id be an idiot not to believe them. The fact is that the Patriots are known cheaters, no two ways about that, they admitted to spygate. Kraft admitted to deflategate when he accepted the teams punishment- all he didnt want was Tom suspended. Goodell is best buds with kraft (another known fact- Kraft is referred to as ‘the asst. commissioner’ within the NFL) so the NFL has done everything humanly possible to look the other way and give as little possible punishment to them when caught red handed. 6.7 million ppl in Mass. believe the pat’s are innocent, the other 320 million know they are cheaters

  28. Dolphins hired former New York Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum in January 2015 to become the team’s executive vice president of football operations.

Well…. no need to look any further than that. Paranoid little girl.

  29. Your center threw the ball past your QB inside your own ten… if anyone was cheating the Dolphins that game it was the OC who put a spread shotgun call on the field inside the ten or the center who rifled that snap past Tannehill.

  30. A rerun of last October’s news; slow week, apparently. Why not run more articles on Peyton’s HGH usage, instead?

  31. The fact that Tannenbaum is employed in the NFL speaks to the lack of qualified people. Sadly he’s not alone.

Hey you ran the Jets into the ground….wanna come work for us??

  32. Can you blame the dolphins?
I mean, fool me once and shame on you, fool me twice and shame on me.
The sad part is its already accepted around the NFL that the Pats will cheat at every corner, and the league can’t or won’t stop them.

    =====================================

Every corner? Nice try. They were “caught” in 2007 for filming from an unapproved location. That’s it. Don’t even try to say #Framegate was anything other than butthurt ex Jets employees out for revenge. Other than that, there’s nothing. They’re the best run organization in Football since 2001, period.

  33. The NFL doesn’t look good if many fans think cheating is going on by various teams.

A real leader (not Goodell) would be proactive about restoring the reputation of the NFL. This loss of fan confidence wouldn’t happen in the NBA.
The NBA has strong leadership, and the NFL should take a look at how they handle things.

  34. What a circus Miami is. What did they think would happen to their equipment? Were the Pats handlers going to tie some shoelaces together? Loosen all of the facemasks up on the helmets? Take the batteries out of the Surface pads? Maybe put Ben-Gay in the jocks?

And how did the precautions work out ? You got crushed again. Look Miami, the reason you keep losing is that your team and organization is horrible at football. Maybe you should stop living in 1972 instead of worrying about this foolishness. Put Grampy Shula in the nursing home and re-sign Ray Finkle. That would be a step in the right direction over the clown show you have there now.

  35. LOL!!! So New England is taking up a lot of real estate in Miami’s heads!

I am a lifelong Pat’s fan. All these hysterical accusers of this cheating business has become nothing but a joke to me now. You hate NE, yet you are the very first commenters on any of their articles and you manage to bring up NE in just about any article that has nothing to do with them. Do you live on this website, eaten up with an obsession that compels you to continually make fools of yourselves?

As for me, I am enjoying watching my team as I do every year since 1970. Go Pat’s!!

  36. Remember when fans of bad teams had bags on their heads so nobody would know who they were? A trend that has a good chance at a come back in Miami.

  37. As a Patriots fan, I am very happy that Tannenbaum is the GM in Miami and Ryan is the coach in Buffalo. The Jets got rid of both of them and are now in the playoffs. Go figure.

  38. And they found what exactly? Nothing? Just like when the Jets had the locker rooms swept? Great. Can we all stop with the nonsensical allegations now?

You know, there a real cheating scandal going on right now with the HGH that is getting suspiciously little attention…

  39. really … video taping from the wrong area on the field is what we were found guilty of.

video taping still takes place today by all teams in the NFL.

Ok so yes the Coach disregarded a memo saying to stop video taping from that point on the field.

    Guilty.

Now tell me again how that impacts in game real time events on the field of play???

    Run… block… tackle… catch… kick……is what wins games.

Miami will suffer this weekend….as we make our way to number 5

  40. Is that why their equipment truck got stuck underneath Gillette Stadium after the game? That actually happened btw.

Thrilled for the Phins that they didn’t let anyone spoil a blowout humiliating loss for them.

  41. The irony is that the Lolphins were the ones that cheated against the Pats when they purchased third party audio of Brady’s cadences and audibles then shut out the Pats. Their linebacker, Zakk Thomas, laughed about it on tv and said they “knew everything that was coming.” That right there is the very definition of cheating.

  42. Does anybody really have to cheat to beat the Dolphins?
Belichick and Brady could’ve taken the day off and still beat this crappy team.

  43. Tell a fool anything and he’ll believe you.

Tannenbaum telling his team this nonsense and they believed it. Sadly, so do sad sad people like samapoc and factman66 (a man who clearly wouldn’t know a fact if it came up to him, kicked him in the ass, left its boot up there, tapped him on the shoulder and said ‘I’m a fact and I’ve got my boot up your arse!’)

  44. Perhaps the “extra staffers” could have taught that soft team of quitters how to tackle, instead of chasing ghosts.
It has been a delightful year of watching all of the whining little AFC snitches get their stitches this year!

Just like every year, it starts off with big talk in the off-season.

Miami is going to get worse, not better. Their best player is their back-up QB, and they are too stupid to realize it.
Suh made about $1,000,000 per tackle this year, and he doesn’t look like he even wants to play anymore.

Buffalo is going to be stuck at 6 or 7 wins for as long as Rex is there. Damn, it’s great to have him in the league!

The Jets are decent now under Bowles, but aren’t in the same category as the Pats with half of their players healthy.
(I am really hoping that the Pats will get to see the Jets in the playoffs).

The Colts have been the most fun to watch this year. Stacking up the losses to other crappy AFC South teams, underneath their bad-ass participation banner, while their totally overwhelmed coach babbles about being eaten.
Superbowl? HAHAHAHA. Can’t even make the playoffs!
    In the AFC South!

The Ravens were a great gift this year as well. Wallowing in suckdom.

Hopefully the ancient, old, cork-poppers in Miami remembered to stuff Shula’s stocking with an extra case of Depends Undergarments this year, because I know that senile old fool is crapping himself way more this year than during years past!

Happy New Year to all of the big-talking AFC joke teams!
We will be looking forward to hearing all of your chirping again soon! Even you, Chippy!

  45. Please say it was tinfoil hats with little Dolphins logos on them. I would buy one of those in a heartbeat.

  46. Belichick brought the team to Miami two days earlier than normal. OMG, he is up to something!

Tannenbaum is a f’king joke. He got work by kissing up to those NY-based moron billionaires (i.e. Johnson and Ross).

  47. Interesting how some teams now include this announcement JUST Before they play the Pats. Gee, it’s almost as if it’s part of a their ‘winning’ strategy.

  48. Best way to beat an opponent…
    Get in their head.(see OBJ)
I hate the Pats, but they excel at making you think too much.
Their success against Manning over the years is due to this as well.
    Think long…Think wrong

  49. Remember that time that the Dolphins bought audio of the Patriots audibles, and then knew every play Brady called at the line of scrimmage? Yeah, most losers, I mean babies, I mean “fans”, like to pretend that didn’t happen. Some actually pretend it was the Patriots that bought the audio of the Dolphins. Laughable. You can look it up. It was Dec of 2006 I believe. 21-0 Dolphins.

But here come the Dolphins fans, and all the whiney children who cheer for other teams acting like its always the Pats, never anyone else…

  50. Hard to blame them. What’s the down side of taking extra precautions? Doesn’t mean they think the Pats are definitely cheating. Just means they want to take precautions just in case. There is literally no downside to doing this.

  51. So – ESPN’s Golden Boy Peyton Manning is under the gun due to his wife receiving shipments of HGH to their home …and they do not deny this…..

UT OH! …. we need a diversion from our boy!

QUICK! Dig up a cheating story for the Patriots …..from OCTOBER.

    Pathetic.

Oh… and all those “extra precautions?” They didn’t help much… You still lost 36-7.

  52. “Mike Tannenbaum was the Jets’ G.M. when the Patriots were caught illegally taping the Jets’ signals during Spygate. Tannenbaum is now the Dolphins’ executive V.P. of football operations, so he has a history with the Patriots and cheating.”

Wow! This whole time I thought it was a rule violation… as in, they broke a rule. Please enlighten me… how was it cheating?? Or maybe you meant Tannenbaum himself has a history of cheating??

  53. spend time on figuring how to win on the field, by wasting their time worrying about goblins, they seal their own fate.

i can add the dolphins owner to the list of influential owners in the ear of godell telling him about the culture of cheating in new england i guess.

people wonder why Kraft had to take the fines, this is why, the owners believe BS, and would not listen to reason.

    Owners of teams:
    Cowboys
    Indianapolis
    Miami
    Giants
    Ravens

    how’d you do this year?

  54. Wow people are paranoid. OK here is a question aside from 07 when have the Pats cheated in the Kraft era? Answer they have cheated less than many teams. How come those teams aren’t as persecuted in the minds and paranoia of others? I just answered my own question

  55. Like all articles on inferior teams being paranoid, you forgot to add this part:

“….and no wrongdoing or attempt at wrongdoing was uncovered.”

So the Dophins were paranoid, nothing happened, and somehow that’s an overwhelming example of guilt by the Pats. Smh

  56. I don’t know if the Patriots cheat or not, and if we’re being honest, neither do the rest of you. But here’s what I do know; 1) it is a prevailing idea across the league, amongst many teams, and people who could and should know, that the Patriots are dishonest, 2) there doesn’t seem to be any other team that is distrusted as much as New England, even though there are many other successful teams out there and 3) it’s been going on a long time, not just a one time incident. All that, in my opinion, seems to show there must be some credibility to the whole thing.
It’s no secret that every team will take advantage of an opportunity to gain an edge. But there sure seems to be enough there to feel like the Patriots go beyond that, bending or even breaking the rules to gain an advantage.

  57. When the Jets were caught filming the Patriots in 2007, the Pats shooed them out of the stadium..when the Pats were caught filming in the wrong location the weasels Tannenbaum, Kensil et al set off the most overblown scandal in NFL history. Your Hero Goodell was the new sheriff in town, had to show everyone how tough he was so the Ex Jet hit Belichick and the Pats. Kensil, Vincent, Goodell did it again when they failed to understand science and Framed Brady. this all stems from Belichick leaving the Jets in 2000, winning multiple Super bowls that the jealous ex Jets and the sheep New York media think they should have had. Those are the FACTS man.

  58. “Mike Tannenbaum was the Jets’ G.M. when the Patriots were caught illegally taping the Jets’ signals during Spygate.”

So it follows that “Mike Tannenbaum was the Jets’ G.M. when the Jets were also illegally taping the Patriots signals as well.”

  59. Winners take a loss and look at what they need to do to get better. Losers point fingers and assign blame.

Hey Miami, what’s your excuse for the other 9 losses on your record?

Must suck knowing your team is in last place in your own state. Blowout city come Sunday. The Patriots have even more motivation now.

  60. REPORT: Dolphins coordinators Cover their mouth’s while calling plays against New England

Also, Miami players are seen huddling on the field away from patriot players before running plays

  61. Figures that another ex-Jet would be at the bottom of this ridiculousness. Meanwhile if the Dolphins spent more time worrying about what goes on on the field, they would be better off. The entire Jets management from its inception to the present is and has been filled with shady, underhanded despicable characters.

  62. Well done Miami, keep an eye on the Cheariots because that’s how they got to where they are….by CHEATING along with an easy schedule….Patsies are sooooooo overrated but I know they will fall through the Crack in their first game of the playoffs……keep dreaming about the SB!!!!

  63. Now all is balanced in the galaxy.

For no article about another cheating ( Peyton – I have a dome that is bigger than Barry Bonds -Manning) without and equal and opposite article about the Patriots.

    New England Patriots:

    The GREATEST MODERN NFL DYNASTY

  64. For all the Pats fans whining about injuries and how we almost beat you without, read on. In week 7 Jets matchup Lorenzo Mauldin and Bilal Powell , Quincy Enunwa all did not play. You remember them from Sunday right? Skrine gave himself a stinger in the first half popping Edelmen, Calvin Pryor left after drive one of 2nd half high ankle sprain, Richardson was in his 2nd game back after a 4 game suspension where he cannot practice with team, Decker still hobbled by a sprained his PCL week 1, Leonard Williams was in his 6th NFL game, Ivory partially torn quad on 1st play from scrimmage. Much like the 2007 Giants, you can’t block us. Its OK, only Dallas could a little. When the Jets went from 4-1 to 5-5, Mauldin, Powell and Enunwa were all out, Mangold had a neck injury, Marshall a high ankle,Willy Colon put on IR, Devin Smith tore his ACL just as he was getting more and more snaps, Fitzpatrick broke his thumb and had surgery.
You went 3 and a half quarters without converting a 3rd down for a reason. We ran it and passed it. Bellicheks kicking makes total sense. You get ball back, even down three you always have 4 downs to move the chains. Actually, the only touchdown you got was when you used all 4 downs. Bill gets it. Only 16% score TD on first handling of ball. He wasn’t avoiding the Steelers.

  65. Another former New York Jet employee, TannenBUM, making something up on the Patriot’s. This is what losers do when you can’t beat the team on the field, you make up false allegations. Let’s make it a story when something is found and not made up. Have they found any bugs in the locker rooms yet and how did the Colts’ footballs get below the legal PSI factman?

  66. Maybe Miami should focus on getting better as a team and organization. As opposed to worrying about bringing additional staff with them SMH!!

Here is the story for people who don’t believe that other teams ever taped signals in football history.
: On November 12, 2006 — two months after the NFL sent its initial 2006 memo forbidding videotaping from the sidelines and “other locations accessible to club staff members during the game” — the Jets were caught filming the Patriots from both endzones of Gillette Stadium.

  68. I love how people overlook the fact that in one way or another, the Jets are always the root of all of these cheating allegations. How does that loser franchise have so many people spread around the NFL?

I guess when a team hasn’t accomplished anything meaningful since before Man first set foot on the Moon, they are easy to overlook.

The sad thing is that the Jets are actually verified cheaters.

Oh well, thankfully the Patriots are a good enough organization to play past all of the lame attempts to stop them.

  69. Imagine how flattered Belichick is. Guy is that much better than everyone else that the whole league takes precautions and dishes out constant accusations of cheating as the only explanation for the sustained success of his team.

  70. Hasn’t this been beaten to death yet? Let’s get on with the playoffs and the Caldwell/Pagano Final Countdown.

  71. The apparent lack of focus on their own organization with foolish and childish distractions such as this prove the systemic dysfunction that is the Miami Dolphins and denotes a complete lack of visionary leadership.

    ————————————————–

So basically your point is “for all the Pats fan whining about injuries, I’m going to whine even more about all of the Jets injuries.” Interesting take there. But yea Jets won, congrats. Guess we’ll see how things shake out in the playoffs….that is if the Jets can even make it there first.

  73. The Pats beat them 36 -7. I guess they should have worried more about the game than the equipment people. LOL! What a bunch of clowns!

  74. Good thing they did since October’s game was so close. As long as more former jets continue to hang around the division, we can expect that streak of division titles to extend for a very long, long, time. Keep up the great work, down there in last place, Tannen-BUM! Tebow’s on line 3….

  75. For a fan base so sure there team is innocent there is way too much defending going on here. If they were innocent and you knew it there would be no need for the Patriots Internet Defense Team…aka The Whining Pat’s Brats……say what you want your legacy will always be Winning While Cheating…..amusing.

  76. The funniest part of the Jets getting caught was the disconnect between Tannenbaum and Mangini. Neither could get their stories straight about whether they had permission, didnt do it, or never taped anyone before. Every singe time they spoke, they contradicted each others lies. LOL

    ——————————–

How is a rule violation anything other than cheating? I mean, I’m pretty sure the actual definition of cheating is breaking the rules to gain an unfair advantage.

    cheat
    CHēt/
    verb
    gerund or present participle: cheating
    1. act dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage, especially in a game or examination.
    “she always cheats at cards”

  78. What’s funny is how this supposed majority of people outside of New England are firmly convinced the Patriots are cheaters. The reality is the majority of NFL fans are finally starting to realize how absolutely untrustworthy the league office is and how fabricated the Patriots cheating legacy really is.

I’m actually starting to feel sorry for a few posters in here that insist on trying to continue the fallacy. It’s gone beyond entertaining and is now more pathetic.

  79. For a team that is innocent of cheating it needs a lot of defenders. I guess if you deny it enough it never was……right. Cheating has become institutionalized in the New England culture. So sad to see as I was born and raised there….ashamed to admit that anymore.

  80. This is why the AFC East teams can’t win. The are worried about things that don’t exist. Patriots are in so many teams heads, teams that don’t think about this stuff are the ones who beat them.

  81. Pats fans, you do realize being suspected of cheating and having teams safeguard isn’t ” being in the opponents heads”, its an incitement on your team’s integrity.
People of inner circles of the league know the Pats are cheaters. You’re fairytales about the Pats only illegal filming are laughable. The cat is outta the bag, now that tge facts about spygate are out everyone knows the Patriots are cheating frauds.

I love fact errors in these stories. The Patriots were caught filming in the wrong location (50 or 60 feet below the new allowed location). There’s a feature on cameras called zoom, everyone can use it.
    ———————————————————
Nobody is interested in this sort of factual detail. It diminishes the narrative of the Patriots beating a cheating empire.

Come to think of it, it was Goodell’s “overreaction” that really made the headlines and began the whole wave of speculative nonsense.

  83. Imagine Tannebaum’s job interview in Miami. “Ignore that I drafted Marc Sanchez, I want to be your security go-to-guy.”
Every year, NE has 6 extra bye weeks thanks to their perpetually incompetent AFC East opponents that are so hell bent on hiring failed Jet employees……Wrecks, Tannenbaum, etc.
13 AFC East titles in 15 years….and counting.

  84. Mike Tannenbaum was the Jets’ G.M. when the Jets were caught by the Patriots illegally taping the Patriots’ signals during a game in 2006. Tannenbaum is now the Dolphins’ executive V.P. of football operations, so he has a history with the Patriots and cheating.

The reason both teams broke the rules is that the NFL didn’t want information gathered to be used in the same game, so the taping could not occur in a LOCATION accessible to the coaching staff.

Aren’t the Dolphins the ones who taped Bledsoes’ snap count and used it in a game later that year? Yes, but the Patriots don’t cry about that kind of stuff, they spend their time on important stuff that matters, like game planning, practice, and winning.

  85. @fireRoger that’s bs.. Pats have been caught. It’s like shady stuff seems to be the norm for NE. Even Brady and his crooked partner that supply training, nutrition, and rehabilitation to the team… and get paid for it, even against Belicheck’s wishes. I’m not mad… at least they’re trying, lol. But don’t act like it doesn’t happen. They just do a good job sweeping the leaves every fall haha.

  86. Hilarious. I hope they give them a 50-0 beatdown for their idiocy.

Guilty until they can prove their innocent, right? Cause that’s what this country was founded on, smear and suspicion are enough to convict. After all “where there’s smoke there’s fire!”. Smoke being the paranoia and tears from the bitter losers.

Amazing: Peyton Manning is innocent because there is no proof (even though HGH was delivered to his home).

    Patriots are cheaters. Because……never mind.
    ——————
You’re exactly right and for all you haters out there, we’re not saying that Peyton should not be given the benefit of the doubt. Everyone should wait until the facts come out. I like Peyton Manning, I hope this report is proved to be garbage. What we, Pats, fans are saying is that Tom Brady should have been given the same respect.

    ——————–
If the extra precautions that these teams take ever resulted in finding anything it would, indeed, be an ‘indictment’ of the team’s integrity….since nothing has EVER been found it means that the Pats are in the heads of these teams….in other words the Patriots ‘incited’ paranoia in lesser teams.

  89. “there are many other successful teams out there…”

There are not any other successful teams in the salary cap era which have approached New England’s level of success. Everything about the way the NFL is set up, from the cap to the draft to the scheduling algorithms, is set up to prevent long-term success. The capability is supposed to be there for teams that are bad to get better, and for teams that are good to be unable to sustain that success. New England has broken the system in a way that people resent. There are 16 AFC teams, but New England has been to six of the last 15 Super Bowls. There are 32 NFL teams, but New England has won four of the last 15. They’ve won their division in 13 of the last 15 seasons, despite getting low draft picks every year, and always playing the other AFC first place teams, and having their good players leave in free agency in greater numbers, because of their greater success, than those those of other teams. It’s easy to understand that people resent their success.

But other than having a camera in the wrong place for one half of one game in 2007, there’s no compelling evidence of any rule-breaking. Just resentment and suspicion and paranoia…

  90. Back to the injuries Pat faithful. I didn’t see you give Seattle a pass when Thomas played with a dislocating shoulder, Sherman a torn elbow MCL, Chancellor almost didnt go, Avril concussed in 3rd quarter, Lane broke his arm after picking Brady. The legion was decimated. Did you complain then?

  91. Nofoolnodrool says:

For a team that is innocent of cheating it needs a lot of defenders. I guess if you deny it enough it never was……right. Cheating has become institutionalized in the New England culture. So sad to see as I was born and raised there….ashamed to admit that anymore.
    ———————————-
Of course we’re defenders. We have to be because we get attacked so often. Look at the difference between the way the HGH accusation against Manning and the deflation accusation against Brady were handled….even if you’re a Pats hater, you cannot deny the unfairness of the two.
P.S.–I was born and raised in NY; have lived in New England for most of my adult life and I am a proud New Englander. We stand up for what we believe in. (Lived for 7 years in Indiana…..still gives me nightmares!)

  92. Meanwhile,

we’re still waiting on the results of the NFL Investigation on the Dolts for cheating the Injury Report rules and allowing Andrew Luck to get his kidney ripped open while playing with 3 broken ribs.

    Well, Frodger? We’re waiting?

  93. If every NFL team on the road is not taking precautions they shouldn’t be in charge. Read some of the things bill Walsh, jimmy Johnson and Shula did before and during games.

  94. Talk about the Dolphin foolishness and utter stupidity of trying to plug a hole in the dike when it already has gaping holes all around you!

Tannenbaum is merely trying to divert attention elsewhere from the horrible failures of their current season that he proclaimed would establish his Dolphins to be legit Super Bowl contenders who would crush the Patriots, Jets, and Bills.

Since the Patriots are decidedly superior to the Dolphins at EVERY POSITION and tactically, why would anyone buy Tannenbaum’s BS that they needed to guard against anyone who would feel the need to cheat on his struggling junior college level team?

  95. The NE Patriots are clearly the most scrutinized team in the league. There are so many stories of precautions taken to ensure they don’t do something. Yet, in the words of the mighty Yukon Cornelius…. “lick, lick, lick-nothing”

  96. Why would anyone be surprised that a team that has been a loser throughout this century and makes decisions like hiring Mike Tannenbaum is paranoid?

What will these sorry franchises accuse the Patriots of next? Witchcraft?

  97. Pop quiz:

Which team was actually caught tampering with footballs?

    a) the Jets under Tannenbaum
    b) the Patriots under Belichick

    Hint: the year was 2009

  98. the reality is every 5 minutes there is some type of cheating smoke around the pats

they cheat, period… BBs whole philosophy is around taking advantage of anything the zebras aren’t looking at, so for a couple of decades:
    – the injury report is fake
    – taping happens all over the place
    – balls get tampered with
    – communications equipment goes out, but only for the visiting team
    – snow plows come out
    – tuck rules get established
    – the shell game goes on with eligible receivers
    – and on
    and on
    and on

but if you are a NE fan, you just like seeing the W, you don’t care how they did it, who got cheated out of a fair contest, or what your kids get taught

  99. Here’s how it works:

    1) A team wonders if the Patriots will try to gain an unfair advantage against them. Then they take what some call “extra precautions” to help minimize the chances.

    2) The news hears about the extra precautions and reports on it … because it has the word “Patriots” in it. People click the story.

    3) Anti Patriots incessant whiners say, “There you go … they’re at it again. Where there’s smoke there’s fire”.

    4) Then when much of the general public hears another tidbit that has the words “Patriots” and “cheating”, it is assumed that they are continually up to no good.

Much of this “smoke” you hear of is nothing but smoke BOMBS designed to bait readers into clicks while at the same time, trashing an organization that has done nothing wrong.

  100. More proof that Patriots don’t cheat. With so many paranoid teams going the extra mile to make sure it doesn’t happen.

There’s a lot of projection going on with other teams believing that because they themselves cheat, Pats must also cheat.

  101. Interesting that again with all these “extra precautions” everyone takes, once again they find nothing and get beat 38-7.

See a pattern here? The Pats are just good.

You wanna cry about filming hand signals for advanced scouting? Cry about 4 tenths of a pound of air in a football?

How about HGH delivered to your wife Roger Clemens style to heal yourself? Oh and Peyton* has beat the Pats in the AFC Championship. Would have just been another Super Bowl trip for NE.

  102. bigwii says:

I love fact errors in these stories. The Patriots were caught filming in the wrong location (50 or 60 feet below the new allowed location). There was never any proof they filmed signals specifically, that part has always been speculation. Every team is allowed to film games, just have to film in a specific area. There’s a feature on cameras called zoom, everyone can use it.

    ————————————————

    Patriots fan here.

You are not exactly 100% correct regarding the Spygate rule that was broken. It was a lot more than just filming from the wrong location … but still an incredibly overblown story.

Teams are and always have been allowed to film their opponents sideline. They still are to this day. You are also correct in stating that they did so from the wrong location. There is a specific location in the stadium in which the camera must be located.

BUT … the rules also state that the camera must be contained in a housing which makes the camera and the film inaccessible until the game is over. The idea is that the NFL doesn’t want coaches to have access to the recordings during the current game.

The Patriots had a guy holding the camera and walking around with it. The Patriots could have potentially used the film during the current game.

A rules violation? Absolutely. A TRIVIAL rules violation? Again, absolutely. But it was blown out of proportion because the team just won 3 Super Bowls in a 4 year span … breaking hundreds of millions of hearts along the way.

Respectfully, there’s a fine line between shady and cheating. I’m not sure I need to highlight the inordinate amount of time Patriots fans ‘need’ to spend in order to make that particular distinction. None of which deals with the notion that the Patriots are the only team in the NFL where shady stuff happens. While I understand the Patriots are under the microscope as a result of what they have been caught doing that doesn’t mean every allegation is necessarily true and it certainly doesn’t dismiss the need for proof. It’s fine that you want to call B.S. Just don’t get frustrated when Patriots fans come here and defend the same B.S. allegations.

  104. After reading the comments here today I did some research:

SPYGATE was an infraction of a MEMO…At the time it was not a RULE! It was never voted on by the Competition Committee until 2008. So technically no “RULE” was broken! And, you can look that up.

As for my hometown team…For the Miami Herald to throw that article out at this time (a rehash from an October article), just shows the desperation this city and team are going through.

I’ve always said until Ross hires real football people this franchise is going nowhere.

  105. How on earth is that failure Mike Tannenboob employed?

And Miami fans continue to wonder why their crappy franchise continues to be run into the ground?

Pats live in most teams’ heads and I love it. Priceless.

    How is Gomer’s HGH supply?

No one cares anymore? Hey ESPN, where is Ashley Manning and why was she taking HGH?

  106. irkjames says:

The only unfair advantage the Patriots have over the Dolphins is they are lucky enough to play Miami twice. — from a heartbroken Dolphins fan.
    ————-

True, that the Pats don’t need to cheat against the Dolphins of all teams but they would rather not lose to them either, and therefore, the assumption by the Dolphins is correct and 31 other teams feel the same for themselves. Sadly, the Pats don’t need to resort to shenanigans but they do.

  107. BUT … the rules also state that the camera must be contained in a housing which makes the camera and the film inaccessible until the game is over. The idea is that the NFL doesn’t want coaches to have access to the recordings during the current game.

    ===

No, it doesn’t. The rule says that the film cannot be used during the game. It doesn’t say that it must be “contained in a housing which makes the camera and the film inaccessible until the game is over.” What you demand is not possible by the laws of physics. A camera that is accessible after the game is over is also accessible at halftime.

There is a rule about usage, but it’s far less specific than what you claim it to be. And no, there is no rule about whether signals can be taped. (That was something that the league office added in its “clarification” memo.) And there is no rule against taping from the sideline. Unless you construe the sideline to be “on the field”, an interpretation which contradicts the very definition of “playing field” given by the rule book itself.

As a matter of legal construction, Belichick had a very defensible case for what he did. But he committed the cardinal sin of ignoring a league memo. Because he thought the memo was inventing new rules. And the commissioner isn’t empowered to write new rules.

The problem here is Goodell. He has no legal training. And he’s a very insecure man, so he lashes out at anybody who questions the notion that he’s the dictator of the NFL. The fact that he has no legal training leads to him constantly making up new arguments left and right, with no overarching, consistent vision guiding him. It also makes him a puppet in the wind of whatever dominant gases are blowing among the various ownership groups.

So if enough owners want to see the Patriots punished, by golly Goodell is going to punish them! Even if the owners are doing nothing more than highway robbery, Goodell will fight for them!

  108. The Pats have only beaten two teams with a winning record at the time the game was played. This does not include opening week and of course teams that now have winning records but, not at the time they played the game.

  109. Spygate was filming in the wrong location.

Yep, like having Pats employees dress up as members of the media so they can stand on the opponents sideline to spy.
The rest of spygate included rummaging through opponents hotels for information, sending employees in the opponents locker room to steal documents, tampering with the oppositions headset communication….

  110. I love how people continue to say KrAft and Goodell are best buds. There is no longer a relationship there after what happened this past year. Taking you to federal court and then appealing again is definitely nothing….. Best friend take each other to court all the time.

Absolutely “letting the Pats get away with it”. Fact is that the court, along with any logical fans, see through the facade that is deflategate. It’d be the best thing for the league to deflate Roger’s ego by giving him the boot.

  111. Did the Dolphins check for little people under the floor and ceiling tiles? For the roaches mounted with little cameras? Or maybe Bill B. borrowed the invisibility cloak from Harry Potter?

    =====================================

thats an easy one to answer. when you field as many crappy teams over the years as the jets have, your front office has a lot of turnover. in this nfl, even losers keep getting recycled by crappy owners like ross. tannenbaums the perfect example of that.

  113. Just a matter of time before one of these jealous paranoid teams PLANT something to be found since they NEVER find anything themselves.

BB was actually concerned about this a short while back he requested that the league sweep the visitors locker room BEFORE the other team comes in to ensure it was clean and so they wouldn’t have that opportunity. Goodell and his office rejected the request.

Kind of makes ya wonder huh? Goodell would LOVE for that to happen and he is not going to prevent it. SMH

  114. Tee hee 🙂 Patriot Hater is saltier now than they’ve been since Malcolm Butler kicked them in the gut…. their boy PEDton* was exposed as a cheating fraud and now they take it out on the soon to be #1 seed 🙂

Dude, I’m on your side. But here is an excerpt from the NFL policy manual:

-No video recording devices of any kind are permitted to be in use in the coaches’ booth, on the field, or in the locker room during the game.

-All video shooting locations must be enclosed on all sides with a roof overhead.

-Any doors entering the shooting locations within the public seating areas of the stadium are required to be lockable from both the inside and the outside of the location to prevent unwarranted access.

  116. Yes, Roger Goodell hasn’t been caught numerous times LYING and being corrupt.

    LMAO

Anyone backing Roger Goodell is corrupt themselves.

Where is Ashley Manning hiding right now anyway?

At a mystery vacation home in Florida?? HMM.

ESPN can try to hide from this story all they want, but they and Gomer will never escape it.

Admit guilt or expect this to go on.

  117. I find it a riot that the league office can try to come up with any reason or excuse to STEAL the Patriots draft picks & NONE of the other teams can seem to take advantage of those opportunities to become more competitive……instead they just do dumb thing after dumb thing & continue to point their fingers at the Patriots organization & blame them for all their short comings…..too funny!!!
I’m hoping Mr. Kraft will some day get fed up with 345 Park Ave & go all Al Davis on them & take the whole lot of them to task & clean house at that corrupt bunch of incompitant ex jet turds

  118. nofactsman, the Patriots are targets of cheating accusations because they win. On a reoccurring basis, the NFL catches other teams actually cheating and does little or nothing in response. Deflategate has blown up in Goodell’s face and he and his henchmen have been outed as incompetent liars, fabricators of evidence, and all-around despicable human beings.

After the NFL spent in excess of $20MM targeting the Patriots and Brady in an attempt to impair their competitive position, the Patriots are again poised to make a run in the NFL playoffs with either the first or second seed. The owners that targeted the Patriots (Colts, Ravens, Steelers, Cowboys, Jets), with the exception of Woody Johnson, have all seen their seasons go up in flames.

  119. Folks will always cry fowl or foul when one team pretty much crushes not only the division, but the league, year after year. Especially, when those years stretch into decades.
NE ‘secret’ to success is fairly obvious. They don’t field chumps or dummies. You don’t need a high wonderlic score to play for NE, you just need to follow instructions from the boss. You need to understand your position and prepare for it every day. NE doesn’t make many mistakes. When they do, as they did in their losses, they lost.
The problem with many teams is they field a few loose cannons, players ill prepared, players who are unable to play at a high level etc. Then Belichek focuses on those players, and exploits them. Pretty simple. And lastly, you make a bone head mistake on a NE team, and your riding the pine or the waiver wire.
One of the few businesses that really practice capitalism at the most basic level. You can ‘can’ a guy if he doesn’t perform without any repercussions. Too many teams keep screw-ups in the hope the flashes of brilliance they saw can be nurtured. Belichek has no problem trading poor performing stock. He doesn’t care about the trading fees. He is what Buffet is to the stock market…buys ‘performing’ stock and dumps the dogs.

LOL sure, that’s why they were forced to pay fines and forfeit draft picks twice in the last 7 years.
    ==================
Technically the second loss of draft picks was voluntary at best.

  121. The Patriots are the ones who should be suspicious…Dolphins admitted in 2006 buying audio tapes of Brady’s snap calls and players admitted it was “critical” to their 21-0 victory over Pats that year. Oh wait, Pats don’t care and just focus on being more prepared than the other team.

  122. If anyone saw the Bronco-Cincy game, they saw a huge reason why the Broncos are excelling. They were getting smoked, but at half time, they changed their defense…they made changes. They thought they were playing against a Brady, but realized, they were playing against a rookie, and went zone. Forced Cincy Qb to think under pressure. And Cincy stayed the course, and got smoked.
I wish Cincy well, but one big reason they fail is because they don’t adapt very well. They ran up the middle, did sweeps in both directions, and did sideline throws. Once Broncos figured it out, they stopped the party. If Cincy is to have any post season success, they have to avoid being predictable. A real shame, as the should have smoked Denver. Well, the game is played not only on the field but in the booth, and the Cincy booth team lost the game.

  123. If Brady and Belichick were FA right now, more then half of the 32 NFL Teams/Owners would be fighting to get them.

What would the Haters be saying with Brady and/or BB on their Team ???

  124. I heard Takashi from Revenge of the Nerds was hired by Belichick personally to reprise his role in that movie and pour Liquid Heat on all the Dolphins jock straps. Just another brilliant move by the master who studies all things in the history of the game–even from 1980’s comedies.

  125. Where do you people come up with this stuff?
It happened a couple of months ago wand we ware just hearing about in now?

And it snowed in Miami on Christmas day.

  126. What you failed to mention here is that Tannenbaum was the GM of the Jets in the last regular season game of 2006 when the Jets went to Foxborough and tried to set up extra cameras in illegal locations to film the Patriots, which led to the dispute in the very next regular season game opening the 2007 season, that led to the Patriots having to bring a camera to the sideline, which morphed into the crime of the century, and dubbed “Spygate,” for ratings purposes. The Patriots have extensive experience with their opponents cheating, and take steps to prevent it, without whining to the media.

We all know how Don Shula and the Dolphins routinely manipulated the rules and officiating by running those committees. We all remember how he ordered the tarps pulled off the field three days before the AFC Championship game in the early 80’s in order to neutralize the opponents speed advantage. They used PED”s, Shula was named in a lawsuit this year for forcing players to take pain killers and get back on the field. The Dolphins tampered with Shula to get him to Miami and lost the 1st round pick, and got an asterisk on the 72 season, where they feasted on the softest schedule in NFL history (.357) having to only play two teams with an above .500 record. The Dolphins purchased tapes of Brady’s signal calling that they used to time blitzes and win a game 21-0, and later tried to peddle it off as “hey, everyone does it!” All aboard the cheat train Dolphins fans! The list of Dophins cheating scandals is loooong. That’s where their success came from, however Shula and the Dolphins are one of the Super Bowl’s losingest teams ever.

Tannenbaum needs to monitor his own house. Perhaps if he did he wouldn’t have his butt handed to him annually by the Patriots.

We’ve been through this enough. Spygate was a matter of filming from the wrong location. Huge overreaction from Herr Goodel in issuing that penalty.

As far as deflategate goes, NOTHING has been found. As court testimony shows the NFL has no evidence. This is by the NFL’s own admission.

What you don’t realize is contractually the owners don’t have many options in fighting fines and penalties from Goodel. But don’t worry, Brady will own Roger in the next appeal, too.

  130. “the Patriots are targets of cheating accusations because they win”

    ********
Well, that would be accurate if they were never caught and punished for cheating.
I will say that maybe some people just like to pile on or try to attack them out of jealousy. Others, like me, have no tolerance for cheating, have plenty of information to back our claims, and feel bitter because they’re seeing their favorite sport be turned into a joke. I don’t say the Patriots are cheaters just to talk smack, I say it because I wholeheartedly believe they cheated and got away with most of it.

  131. Guess all that talk of the dolphins unleashing a sleeping giant hasn’t done squat. The dolphins are still a joke franchise with a mediocre quarterback and a head coach who belongs in high school

  132. Others, like me, have no tolerance for cheating, have plenty of information to back our claims …

and yet you never actually provide any REAL information.

  133. Hilarious how this non-story has garnered 246 responses and counting.
The Patriots aren’t polarizing, are they? On to SB 50 and ring #5!

  134. How is Miami doing this year? Maybe they should focus on actual football stuff opposed to extra staffers… What was the score of the October game? At least it is a great place to vacation.

  135. Why would ANY team ever let another team have access to anything proprietary? If MIA is only doing it occasionally, that would explain a lot of their history of failures.

  138. Pettsmagee……from 9:20AM. I didn’t whine about the loss in week 7. It was bad when Ivory went down(he had 150 v Skins week before) but that’s football. My problem is many Patriot faithful have to make an excuses just to try an unjustify any good your opponent may have done. So, I played the game I’m seeing here and written by many. I also forgot to mention that the Jets punter came down with a bad skin infection on saturday and we signed Steve Weatherford to punt that day. You can thank him for giving you a couple of short fields when you couldn’t move the ball with Edelman and Amendola and the RB from Oregon who knocked that kid out from Boise State during the hand shake before getting stoned with L’ Bell. I think he had 9 yards rushing that day. Weatherford was our only option as we didn’t have time to fly someone in to tryout on short notice. He lives locally. I didn’t start the lame excuses game but everybody hurts “sometime”.

  139. “Others, like me, have no tolerance for cheating,”

One of the funniest comments I have read on PFT, nofactsman. The latest PED scandal speaks to a league-wide cheating scandal. Based on your 24-hour a day Brady bashing your head must be ready to explode at the level of PED use. I look forward to you consistently applying your cheating sensitivities to the PED issue.

What penalties do you see being imposed on the Packers (Neal, Mathews, Peppers), Broncos (Manning), Colts (Manning), Steelers (Harrison), and Jets (Keller) based on the Aljezeera story?

How long before one of the politicians in a city, state, or federal position uses this story as payback for the NFL extorting money from taxpayers in threatened franchise moves, as leverage to change the name of the Washington franchise, to force anti-trust concessions, domestic violence policy changes or other public interest initiatives? Funny, neither spygate nor deflategate had any juice to do anything more than having Arlen Specter use it to pump up the votes of Eagles fans.

    —-

No, Pats employees never dressed up as members of the media and stood on the opponents’ sideline.

No, they never rummaged through opponents’ hotels.

No, they never stole documents from opponents locker rooms.

No, they never tampered with headsets. The Pats don’t even control headsets – the NFL does. We all learned that Week 1. At least, those of us paying attention did.

“Factman” lives in a rich fantasy world.

  141. So..this story is from OCT…just showing up this week to deflect away from Manning being outed for HGH.

BSPN, NFL and the papa john sponsors will not be able to wish this story away…it has legs.

There was too much in that video to just recant away..like the major league baseball player.

Bob Kravitts of the Indy Star admitted to getting HGH from Mannings clinic..follow that roger.

Goodell has equated PED’s and psi…..we’re watching you roger.

    _______________________________
You’ve now stated that you have “plenty of information to back your claims. If this is true why are you not at the Jets Retirement Home at 345 Park Avenue and submitting this “information?”

I thought that Brady and NE were cheating too until I started reading other reports including Wells, AEI, etc., and listening to different people explain the law. And don’t forget the 60 Minutes Sports segment! At least I was able to separate the “FACTS” from the fiction that the NFL was spewing.

  143. Hmmm….So if every team takes extra precautions when playing the Patriots, including high tech measures like FBI styled sweeps for bugs and such…..And none of them ever find anything….Doesn’t that actually clear the Patriots?

Ironically, when a man feels another man is cheating him, he’s much more likely to cheat in response. It seems to me much more likely that if we find a team using legitimate underhanded measures, it’ll be a team playing the Patriots and not the Patriots themselves.

Spygate was an honest misinterpretation of a rule. The rule was poorly written and specifically said that filming was illegal “IF” using that footage in the game it was filmed from. ESPN, who had a serious grudge against the Patriots for being denied access to the team and at one point being straight up banned from their training camp, used that situation to pile on and bury the team in negativity instead of reporting both sides in a fair and balanced manner. Its something they do often and they did it again with Deflategate, which ultimately was a controversy about nothing. The balls were NEVER tampered with. The true story should have been how incompetent the Commissioners office is and how petty some of the league’s owners are because they’ve been misled and manipulated by ESPN’s smear campaign. That’s the true story…How bad and unethical our media companies are these days.

  144. Spygate was an honest misinterpretation of a rule.
    *********
That’s a flat out lie. The facts say that there was much more than illegal taping. Stop lying, NE!

  145. You’ve now stated that you have “plenty of information to back your claims. If this is true why are you not at the Jets Retirement Home at 345 Park Avenue and submitting this “information?”

Because SI and ESPN already exposed the lies and cover-up of spygate. Stop lying, NE. It’s pathetic and nobody believes you.

  146. Would you want a coach and fans who are men or little flabby girly men? Oh the whining, kvetching and excuses as Belichick brushes aside all the pismires with disdain.

  147. And well they should have taken such precautions.

The Foil Hats were functional, and fashionable too. The long, “cheatful” and sordid history of ShulaCheat and the Dolphins has them well-prepared for imaginary foul play from other NFL teams.

Too bad the team is a perennial loser. Even the great Tuna couldn’t turn the tide down there.

  148. Nah What they’ll have is those jealous of them cause their team is not as successful. I will ask another typical hater then watch them run as facts confound them. So aside from 07 when have the Pats cheated in the Kraft et’al era? Go ahead look it up. You will be disappointed almost as much as you likely are with your team.

  149. As for spygate yes it was cheating in 06 when Mangini who had asked Coach B not was caught and slapped on the wrist. Goodell cracked down that yr Then Coach B was caughyt 1 yr later and was fined etc.. Oh and who did Mangini spy on? The Patriots

  150. Remember when this board’s Haters claimed Miami would win th division after acquiring Suh?

Have these people ever been correct about anything?

  151. you have to when you play in *N.E. it’s common knowledge they will cross wires on your headsets, plant cameras in visitors locker rooms, it’s anything goes over there, integrity be damned we are the *New England Patriots..At least Rodger didn’t just give up when *Brady bribed Judge Berman, he filed the appeal so the free ride will be over once the higher court reverses the ruling….and it will, just way too much evidence to over look.

  152. the headsets are run by the league not the teams. I won’t even dignify the rest as well you lack evidence or you would have stated it within your baseless accusations

  153. No, they never tampered with headsets. The Pats don’t even control headsets – the NFL does. We all learned that Week 1. At least, those of us paying attention did.

that is a lie pure and simple the NFL supplies the headsets to be controlled by staff of the home team…..it’s very very very very clear and simple….*N.E. absolutely tampers with the visiting teams headsets….every single team in the league has gone on record saying it….

you sir are a liar and a cheat.now good day to you.

  155. Oh you mean when someone tells the truth they are a liar? I saw the game Michelle Tafoya who broke the story was told by a league rep what I posted stop playing with adults and goto the kiddies table

  156. “The Patriots are in everyone’s heads.”

Including their own. Did you see that coin toss mess?

  157. Of course they dont have to cheat against the dolphins, but thats what pisses people off about the pats. They dont need an edge, but they try and look for one anyways

    ——————————–

People should turn their negativity toward their own teams, for not trying to get an edge.

Last time I checked, it was about winning games, and not just staying mediocre year after year.

  159. So the Dolphines think the Pats are cheaters, yet they want to hire 2 of their coaches??? You cant make this stuff up!

  160. It’s fascinating that, given the 285 comments on this thread, that nobody has yet commented about the Pats losing to the Dolphins. It’s especially funny considering that there are about 30 comments on the thread where the poster says something akin to “the Pats can beat the Dolphins in their sleep..” Although the Patriots are clearly the better team and the better franchise, it’s also pretty evident from the past three seasons that the Patriots *don’t* beat the Dolphins when the Pats give less than a maximum effort.

  161. Yes, the same fan base that giggles and pooh-poohs those “ridiculous and unfounded” allegations against their Patriots team is the same fan base that believes in Al-Jazeera as the prime example of journalistic integrity and credibility.

You can’t make this stuff up.

Thanks for pointing out the myths and goofed-up “facts” put forth by the Patriots fan. The fact is, the NFL only supplies the headsets, the home team is responsible for running them and controls them… the NFL DOES NOT OPERATE THE HEADSETS AND NEVER HAS. But keep on telling us about the Ideal Gas Law and how all-about-the-truth you are, Patriots fans.

  163. A other stadiums are complained about to by teams RG3 has complained about Dallas as has Tampa the Vikings have stated that during a game in Oakland Madonna was blasting in their headsets Gonna blame that on the Pats? Also why didn’t the Steelers file a complaint? They likely would have won since there is a witch hunt against the Pats

B Ever drive in that area? I have it is a known deadzone for cell phones

The only problem is you’re both wrong. No matter how many times you insist otherwise, the home team is responsible for the infrastructure the headsets connect to. They are not responsible for the frequencies the infrastructure uses or even the batteries of the headsets. The NFL frequency coordinators manage the frequencies for each team and each team is responsible to check their own batteries (which apparently every team but Buffalo and Pittsburgh is capable of doing).

  165. Did they send hookers to the home of “The Deflator” the night before the game to ensure he’d miss the team bus to the game?

    Well done ‘Fins!!!

    Nothing has ever been found?
LOL sure, that’s why they were forced to pay fines and forfeit draft picks twice in the last 7 years.
    ==================
Technically the second loss of draft picks was voluntary at best.
    ———
    Riiiiight.
Every team “voluntary” gives up first round picks.
    BWHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!

  167. Crush 22….

Please explain in detail what happened with “SPYGATE”…
What did the Patriots do wrong?
Then, please list the evidence that the Wells report details that implicates Tom Brady.
