Sunday Night wrap-up: Vikings win North, get Seattle rematch

Getty Images

The Vikings won the NFC North.

Now they have to worry about whether they’ve lost by winning.

By handing the Packers a 20-13 loss at Lambeau Field in the regular season finale, the Vikings earned a first-round date with the Seahawks in the wild card round.

And while this year’s accomplishments are significant, the fact that they’re playing a team with playoff experience and a hot streak is also real.

The Seahawks have won six of their last seven, including a 38-7 decision at Minnesota on Dec. 6.

That was the day the Vikings were held to 125 yards, and watched Russell Wilson throw three touchdowns and run for another.

The notion that the Seahawks were the team no one wanted to face in the postseason is built largely on reputation from the previous two seasons, but it’s also earned over the last two months. They’ve averaged 32 points per game in the second half of the season, and they just dismantled the previously hot Cardinals, who were playing for the top seed in the NFC playoffs entering the game.

The distance Mike Zimmer has brought the Vikings in his second year is impressive, but not many are going to expect them to take it much farther this season.

Here are five more things we learned during Sunday Night Football:

1. The Vikings are still by and large a young team, and Adrian Peterson proved he’s far from an old man.

The 30-year-old running back led the league in rushing, finishing with 1,485 yards. Of course, he was going to win the title without carrying the ball, unless he lost 17 yards, since Bucs running back Doug Martin managed just 48 yards against the Panthers today to finish with 1,402.

He’s only the third player his age to win a rushing title, joining Curtis Martin in 2004 (31) and Marion Motley in 1950 (30) to lead the league at such a mature age.

Then again, he did have to leave in the second half with a back injury, which is an old guy problem to have.

2. The Packers protection problems and injuries to their receivers are real and legitimate issues.

But so is the fact Aaron Rodgers hasn’t looked so hot lately.

While he’s still one of the league’s best passers, Rodgers can get rattled when things aren’t going right around him. And this year qualifies as the case, as does Sunday night in particular.

Few players deliver a better deep ball than Rodgers, but to do that, he has to have time to take a drop and have someone get open and catch it. And it also helps when people understand where they’re supposed to be, and they don’t have to burn timeouts late.

3. There are things the Packers could do this offseason to make themselves better without breaking the bank.

But finding some reliable inside linebackers to let Clay Matthews do what he does best needs to be near the top of that list.

Matthews is still able to impact games, as he showed in the first half. But he’s so much better when he’s able to play in space.

With Julius Peppers aging and their other options outside underwhelming, the Packers have a clear need there too, one which Matthews could address.

4. Of course, adding many offensive linemen is also on that list for Ted Thompson.

Josh Sitton is a Pro Bowl guard, and did a good enough job in pass protection for the short term filling in at left tackle.

But they clearly need an overall upgrade to that line, after spending loads of mid-round picks and hoping Rodgers elevates them.

5. The Vikings have made strides this year thanks to the progress of quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.

But he’s also still a bit of a limiting factor, at least in terms to play-calling.

After his interception, things were drawn in significantly, and he wasn’t asked to do much. And then his late fumbled exchange with Peterson nearly cost them the game and the division.

Those are young-guy problems, the kind of things that only go away with time and results.

  1. I looked at Green Bay, Minnesota and Seattle as a literal s’more coming into this weekend. Green Bay was the Graham Cracker, Seattle was the Chocolate and Minnesota was the Marshmellow. The Redskins are the hammer that was going to crush whoever came into FedEx Field next Sunday. Congrats, Green Bay. You are getting crushed into pieces facing the Best team in the NFC. You have Aaron Rodgers who I respect but that’s it. Everyone else around him is zero. We’ll put you out of your misery on Sunday. That is all. #HTTR

  2. packers lose their Super Bowl against the Vikings.

    Vikings win the NFC North.

All is back to normal in the NFC North.

    Onward against Seattle!

  3. Wait for it…. wait for it……

Vikings didn’t beat the Packers. The Packers beat themselves.

  4. The Historic Minnesota Vikings Dynasty officially began on this day.

    Oh glorious, historic Minnesota Vikings.

We have the best team in NFL History….

The Decade of Dominance is officially here, you heard it hear first.

We will cruise throughout the playoffs for a historic Super Bowl victory, in the most glorious fashion.

We just took the Green Bay Packers title away…for good.

By the time Mike Zimmer retires and wins over 7 Super Bowl Trophies, the Lombardi trophy will be renamed “The Zimmer Trophy.”

Let the purple and gold confetti fall.

    Recognize Greatness.
    Recognize History.

    Recognize your historic Minnesota Vikings.

  5. The decline of the Packers has officially begun –

Division wrapped up by the end of October – how’d that work out for ya!

The Packer fans have continually looked to the past spouting off about past wins, while we Viking fans watched as our team built for the future!

Na Na Na Na – Na Na Na Na – Hey Hey Hey – Goodbye!

  6. Very surprised the Vikings won the North. I figured Rodgers, Mathews, Jones, etc. would get it one more year before their downward slide began and they handed off the division to Teddy, Barr, and the boys. But, hey, I won’t complain about it happening a year sooner than expected!

  7. I fully EXPECT the Vikes to give us a much harder battle next week than four weeks back. On to Minnesota!

  8. Wait wait we need to ask Rodgers if he felt this game was important. Cause according to him they will only show up to games they feel r important.

  9. Congrats to the Vikings. Just not the Packers’ year.

Unfortunately for you guys, your reward is to run into the Seattle buzzsaw, while Green Bay gets the easiest possible matchup, even if it’s on the road. Tonight is a case where winning winds up being worse than losing.

  10. Joke’s on Minnesota. They can have the red hot Seahawks, and I’ll take a Redskins team that backed into the playoffs.

  11. Wow, what a great game. Can’t believe Rodgers missed that td to Jones on the int play. Hope the Viking fans can handle themselves with some class after this one. I’m kind of happy we are facing the redskins next week instead of a third Vikings game, although a 5th division title would’ve been nice.

  12. Congrats to the Vikings from this Packer fan. All jabs aside, the rivalry is clearly alive and well between the Pack and the Vikes. Tonight wasn’t a good game, but Minnesota was definitely the better team.

  13. And the Vikings are champions. Clay and his dirty plays plus penalties on the Packers finally caught up. Refs are no longer on their side.

  14. Good job Zim congrats on the division win in 2 years nothing but respect for him glad to see him succeed as a head coach after so many good years in Cincy.

  15. 2 games this year. Green Bay: 43 points vs. Minnesota, Vikings 33 points vs. Green Bay. What a joke of a franchise.

Go Pack Go! Refs weren’t on your side, all calls for Vikings as usual, but hey – go beat Redskins.

(OK, who do I sound like? A Vikes fan had they lost? Yassir Youbetcha.)

Nice game Vikes and Congrats. Good luck in the playoffs.

  16. Congratulations to the Vikings – NFC North Champions!

Good luck next week against the Seahawks.

Would love to surprise everyone and see the Packers get a chance for revenge with an NFC championship game in Minnesota.

  17. Great game. And yes Packer fans, for some of us this may be as close to a Super Bowl as we get with the Vikings this year. But if you are going to win ONE game….this one is very sweet.

Pass rush looked exhausted in the 4th quarter, they played hard as long as they could and gutted it out in the end.

Turnovers both ways so no one can say it wasn’t a deserved win. No officials making themselves stand out for stupidity either.

Congrats Zimmer, you deserved this and a whole lot more.

  18. Mr. ANTI-Clutch fails again.

Aaron “The Best QB in the NFL” Rodgers adds to his almost total futility in comeback wins in the regular season for teams ending the season with a winning record. He has ONE single one in his ENTIRE regular season career. ONE. This from a guy who some so-called experts call not only the best QB, but also the “Best PLAYER in the league”.

Mr. FAILback adds another dishonor to his resume.

  19. And the Vikings are champions. Clay and his dirty plays plus penalties on the Packers finally caught up. Refs are no longer on their side. I told you people Zimmer knew exactly what he’s taking about when he said Vikings are learning to be Champions.

  20. A 29-year-old Aaron Rodgers would have won that game. Definitely would have scored on that final drive. He is beginning to show some age. The half-step he use to have on people when he scrambled is gone.

  21. Everson Griffen has done well for himself, listening to him being interviewed, for a guy that apparently didn’t make it out of kindergarten.

  22. Congratulations to Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy for another successful regular season and a trip to the playoffs, but by looking at the calendar, you can see it is now January and time for their season to end. By losing the division to the lowly Minnesota Vikings it is very apparent it is time for January Packer football which for them means losing, which they have already begun tonight.

  23. 11 wins without a qb! Imagine how good this team is with an average to slightly above average qb. TB plays his worst when the lights are brightest!! (see proday)

  24. Excellent!

Aaron Rodgers didn’t have his best game, but is still the best in the League. You have to beat the best to achieve anything, and Zimmer has these Vikings buzzing right now.

No one is going to expect the Vikings to beat the Seahawks, but then no one gave the Rams a chance against them a few weeks back either.

The best thing is that if the Vikings make it to the Championship Game, they could be playing at home if the Panthers get knocked our.

  25. Exactly what I was hoping for as a hawks fan. I hate the Vikings fans and I hate Adrian Peterson so a win next week would be so sweet. Can’t wait to watch our defense put that child abuser in his place just like they did a month ago. 18 yards for AP and they totaled 125 as a team. And yes, as a father and a coach he is a child abuser and doesn’t deserve the millions he’s making.

  26. Congratulations viking fans! You won your Super Bowl!! You’re season is officially a success by your standards!

Oh, and bonus! You won another division flag! Another way you traditionally measure you’re success!!

And congratulations on your NFL record-extending “one-and-done” season. See you next year!!

  27. It was a good tight game. MN defense did a pretty good job on GB..

Teddy still has ALOT of room for improvement.

Atleast both teams seem to have come out of the game healthy.

I don’t know if either one of these two will advance out of the wildcard round. Seattle and Washington have both been playing good ball over the past month. Seattle won 6 of the last 7, and Skins won the last 4 in a row I think. So both teams will have a hard time getting out of the wildcard round.

Packer fans might want to learn to keep their mouths shut now. They were supposed to have the division wrapped up in October, and we were supposed to be like 4-12 or 6-10 they claimed.

Looks like we are all 0-0 now.

  28. Vikings 2016 revenge tour:
    Beat the Packer at Lamblow
    Beat Seattle at home
    Beat the Cardinals in Arizona
Beat the Packers again at home in the NFC Championship
Beat the Broncos in the Super Bowl

  29. Good win for the Vike’s and their fans. Good luck next week. Wish full thinking here, but maybe we’ll see you in Championship game. Yes I’m dreaming but you never know.

  30. “And the silence you hear is…..Lambeau field.”

    NFC North Champion Minnesota Vikings!

Get used to it Choker fans…you’ll be hearing that a lot in the future.

  31. Get your popcorn out..we’re going to be witnessing some great stuff from these 2 idiot fanbases.

  32. Cheese heads how you like your new NFC North champs! THE MINNESOTA VIKINGS! SKOL!

    Choke on that cheese!

  33. Good win Vikes – that was a thriller! Tough loss for my Packers at home, looking lost on offense once again. Nice to have some competition in the NFC North.

  34. Congrats to the Minnesota Vikings on winning the nfc north. You guys have the better team. Kudos to the packers defense for propping up this anemic offense for the entire season. The defense has consistently given this team a chance to win.

  35. Norv Turner almost cost the game playing to run out the clock with 10 mins left and only up 13 instead of playing to win. Could have been another Vikings choke job.

  36. AFC guy so no dog in this fight but I can’t understand why Vikings fans wanted to win this game.
Taking the division from the big brother Packers might seem great but when the end result means facing Seattle next week instead of Green Bay it seems like a case of be careful what you wish for.
Because of this win there’s a better chance that when the smoke clears next weekend the Vikings will not be standing.

  37. LOL…even without the football gods trying to help them win…GB still ended up being the mediocre team we all thought.

Goodbye to Greenbay….they will be irrelivant for years to come. All money tied up into their QB and he is looking as bad as ever. 🙂 ENJOY!!

  38. Big PACK guy here. Hat’s off to the Vike’s. You were the better team this year and you got the monkey off you’re back. MY GUY ROGERS choked again with that end zone pick. Call it what it is. Hope my fellow PACK fans show a little humility tonight, we should. Again congrats to the Vike’s. Still, in the playoffs anything can happen GO PACK!!!!

  39. The stats tell a different story. AD with < 4ypc and < 70 yards. TB with <100 yards on 10 completions. Rodgers with 24 completions for nearly 300 yards. Wow. Goes to show what timeline D does, key special teams and inopportune penalties.

Packers offense has been the most disappointing O in football this year based on where expectations were before the season. Packers D played well and deserves kudos.

Although few expect it, including me, if the offense can catch fire, look out. But there's nothing to think otherwise, and the Packers are likely one and done or maybe lose to Carolina in the semi-final round. Not a good season, but still hope for 2016 and taking the back the division crown.

Good luck to both teams next week. Enjoy your crown, Vikes fans. Well deserved. And we're looking to take it back next year.

    BOOM goes the dynamite!!!

  41. tsb, Carl G, looking for the trolls, sure they are a couple cases deep, and crying over some cheese curds. Get used to it fella’s this is a young and talented team, a few more of these North titles in the Zimmer’s future!

  42. The green bay yackers are so afraid of playing Seattle in the playoffs again. They threw up all over themselves on purpose.

  43. So, why the Vikings are the Nfc North Champs,

    Teddy’s small hands
    Adrian’s too old
    Packers still suck

    HAHAHAHAHAHA

  44. About dang time, and its great for my team to win the NFCN, but I suppose we should be careful what we wish for with Seattle lurking.

That game also was a bit more entertaining than I would have preferred. The win was great, but its not worth trolling cheesers with any changing of the guard cracks as long as Rodgers is still around.

  45. It was refreshing to see a game in Lambeau that was neutrally officiated. I saw two teams that aren’t going anywhere in the playoffs, but it says volumes that the Packers failed to take advantage of the numerous opportunities the Vikings provided on a platter.

The future is much brighter for Vikings fans, in my opinion.

  46. And the GB trolls can chime in about all of your success and good for you. Can’t hate. Respect it. But the Purple will be around for a long long time

  47. Congrats on winning the NFC north because the refs literally gave you a touchdown, literally a division winning touchdown.

To those who say the reign is over, this is the worst packers offense since Rodgers stepped in, to all you yelling “skol” teddy isn’t good and ap is getting old, enjoy your one division crown when Jordy is back and you guys fall back to mediocrity.

Ps. Have fun with the Hawks next weekend.

  48. Not expecting the Vikings to go past Wild Card and Divisional round would be bonus this year. This team is being build for the future, not a one year run.

With that said I can’t wait to see the Seahawks flap their wings next Sunday in 10 degree weather.

  49. Despite what this article would have you believe, the Packers do have to play a game next weekend. They will now play a hot Redskins team at FedEx. They’re very good at home and are on a 4 game winning streak. It’s about time to start showing some respect.

  50. I’m a little disappointed in some of the play calls on offense tonight. MN didn’t seem to be as explosive/creative like the past 3 weeks.

I’m also having trouble with Teddy thinking he can throw left handed.

Either way, Vikes are North Champs again. All trolling aside, Zimmer has done an amazing job in two short years.

  51. Congrats Vikings and your fans, even the annoying fans. MN was able to win without even playing well. Getting a replacement for McCarthy has to be high on the Packers list. It won’t be, but when you get the ball back with 58 seconds left and keep slow-as-molasses Richard Rodgers and Kuhn in the game instead of adding WRs, well, I guess that sums up his coaching ability. Sometime in February he might recognize the situation they were in.

  52. Why does the NFL schedule west coast teams for 10 am games especially when they have the option like for playoffs? Their are 2 other east coast teams or teams who play in eastern time zone the same damn day and they pick the west coast team who happens to be the two time NFC champs to play in the morning. They say they don’t want to ruin the fan experience but how do you have a football party cook drink beer at or before 10 am. Makes NO DAMN sense the new CBA needs to address or just maybe use common sense this it’s stupid.

  53. Packers are an aging team in need of massive retooling. With MM and TT running the draft itis unlikely they willfind help there. It’s gonna be a few seasons before they will win the North again.

  54. Congrats on winning the NFC north because the refs literally gave you a touchdown, literally a division winning touchdown.

    ———

It seemed pretty clear to everyone watching, including the commentators, that it was a fumble.

  55. “To those who say the reign is over, this is the worst packers offense since Rodgers stepped in,”

Yes, you are right. And it is because Aaron isn’t as good as he used to be. 32 ain’t young, and he is only going to get older.

  56. Just wanted to point out that the Packers were swept by the NFC North at Lambeau this season.

That and the fact that the Vikings own the Packers in week 17 this century.

The Division Title returns to Minnesota, where it has been more often than any other state.

Bring on Seattle. It’s time to avenge that midseason loss.

Is the goal to win won playoff game, or get to the SB? Because to get to the SB, you will likely have to beat the Seahawks. And I’d sure rather do it at home.

  58. SKOL Vikes !!!!

They got the job done. Can’t ask anymore then that this time of year. Bring on the rematch.

    No Fear !

  59. Yeah the Vikings will get killed but oh well. They aren’t a team built for a playoff run anyways.

I still can’t believe how bad bridgewater is at throws longer than 15 yards. I wouldn’t even have safeties cover beyond 15 yards because he won’t hit the throw. This is one of the many reasons Seattle will hold the Vikings to zero points next week. Lock up Peterson: check. Make bridgewater beat you: Seriously? Against THAT defense? Honestly, the Vikings stood a better chance of moving on if they played Green Bay again. They drew the worst card you could have in the nfl playoffs. Green Bay will probably beat Washington, and I think they could beat Carolina or Arizona. Don’t be surprised if it’s a Green Bay Seattle rematch in Green Bay.

Is it just me, or is McKinnon the better running back?

Also, anybody notice how much al michaels hates covering the Vikings, especially in Minnesota? Haha, three straight games, sucker! Enjoy the cold!

  60. Yea. We won the Super Bowl.
I don’t care we’re going to get spanked next weekend.
WE beat GB. That all that matters.
    Hip hip hooray!!!

  61. I’m glad we won the north but our offense looked terrible. Defense won this game for sure. We can’t play Seattle like that or their defense will make us pay but I have complete faith Zimmer will get us ready for a strong push.

  62. Vikings win and they have to play the Seahawks at home. Packers lose and they have to play the Redskins away.

    Who really lost?

who cares who the matchup is, if they had matched up vs. Green Bay and won the Wild card round, they’d have a touch game against Carolina the next week.

If you want to win in the playoffs, you gotta be willing to face the best. To be the best you have to beat the best. Bring it on Seattle

  64. Hopefully the Packers will have Shields and Bakhtiari back next week. Left tackle is kinda sorta an important position. Sitton did ok filling in at a position he never played before in his life. On to Washington. Hopefully it will be a good game.

Congrats again to the Vikings and their fans. I dont think they can handle Seattle but Id love to see them win. I’ll always support the NFC North team over an NFC West opponent.

  65. Not surprised to see the lack of Packer fans around here….they all run and hide when GB loses a game, but to lose to the Vikings, the team they all said would be in the division cellar again must truly make them need to throw up their cheese curds!!!

  66. The Packers are who we thought they were.
Hey Packers fans, the Vikings just beat down your favorite team. Does it count as beating a real team?

  67. I told you so. Vikings would win. I got News for you Vikings Win in a Rout Next Week Too!!! 45-0 Seattle Will Freeze in our Climate!!!

  68. Whew! That was exciting! Thanks to everybody who believed in our team! I think our guys are the best and I just knew they would prevail, now time to concentrate on the Seahawks! SKOL!!!!

packers lose their Super Bowl against the Vikings.

    Vikings win the NFC North.

All is back to normal in the NFC North.

    Onward against Seattle!
    ===================================
Of course, as anyone would know, there is no regular season “Super Bowl” as both the Packers and Vikings are going to the playoffs.

Which is good, because the Vikings were getting it handed to them for years when the only highlight of their season (their Super Bowl) was playing the Packers and getting beaten by them.

And the Vikings reward this year? A division championship, and home game against the Seahawks.

Don’t worry, I’m sure it will go great. You’ll be at home against the Seahawks. Where the Vikings only lost by 31. I bet the Vikings will give them a better game this time, and only lose by 21.

By the way, Teddy Bridgewater is terrible. 10 for 19. 99 yards. 45.7 rating. No TD’s. 1 INT.

When the bright lights are on, Teddy disappears into the shadows.

  70. Moses wandered in the desert for 40 years leading the children of Israel to the promised land.

Kind of like the Vikings in the NFC North.

Now, can they cross the River Jordan and enter the promised land?

    That journey starts next week.

  71. And all those who were saying the Vikings would finish in the cellar just learned what a young team on the rise looks like. Way ahead of schedule under Zimmer and the future looks bright. Knocked the Packers off the throne in their own house in front of their fans and on national TV, nothing anyone can say other than Minnesota Vikings NFC North Champs. And to all trolls………… (Allstate voice) Silence.

  72. Tonight’s victory is sweet! The Vikes are back atop the NFC North. It feels soooo good!

To everyone that thinks Seattle will win easily next week, think again! Even though Seattle looks awesome as of late, the temperature will be in the single digits for the game on Sunday. The wind chill is expected to be below zero. The Minnesota Vikings have a history of winning home playoff games when the temperature low. This is how they went to four Super Bowls in 7 years. Zimmer will have the team ready.

    @BonnieBengal

You are one of the classiest posters here on PFT. Thanks for the well wishes and good luck to the Bengals in the playoffs. I’m routing for them!

  73. not a fan of either team but if I were Minnesota I would of much rather thrown this game and face them again next week than hosting a Seattle team that will totally obliterate them. I guess Minne being Minne, they would rather count this division title as their bragging rights for years to come.

  74. Vikes may not go far in playoffs. Green Bay may go further. But in the longview… Vikings are building a real stellar defense. They are skilled and deep at running back. They are young and talented at receiver and Tight End, and they have a QB who, while the NFL may be too fast for him currently, has all the other skills and will get the reps to figure it out.

This is a window that is opening. WIDE!

  75. Next up, another week of nobody believing in Zimmer’s Vikings. It’s really hard to win somewhere twice in the same season, especially when the Arctic winds are on the way. Bring on the Seahawks.

—————————————————————Because it’s the NFL playoffs and you have to play the best, what’s the difference if you beat a lesser opponent and lose to the better team in the next round? There is no hiding in the playoffs so you put your best effort out there and let the games be decided on the field. The only strategy a champion can have is play every game to win. You don’t lose to face a specific opponent, because every Sunday is different and previous records don’t matter. In order to be the best you have to beat the best. Bring ’em on. If the season comes to an end against Seattle then so be it, but being scared enough to lose on purpose is no team I want to root for. And the Vikings made history, no team playing in a temporary home stadium has ever made the playoffs, let alone host one. Zimmer has accomplished a lot in his short time in charge, the team is headed in the right direction and back in the playoffs as NFC North Champs, that’s what he said the goal this week was: win the division. Next goal: win at home on Sunday.

  77. I was surprised Matthews wasn’t kicked out of the game after she punched one of the Vikings’ O Lineman. At least they were penalized 15 yards though …

  78. YES! There is SO much I wanted to say because, this has been a very satisfying NFC North Div Championship Season! After last season…remember that 7-9 season when the Vikings lost soo many close games? Actually they lost tooo many close games! They lost a couple of close games this season and, they could have easily went 13-3! 11-5 is nothing to get down about for sure! I’ve been a Viking fan for 45 years and too me this is such a great season because, our young QB…..NOT the Raiders’ Young QB or the Jags’ young QBs…..led his team to a Div Title and a Postseason birth! Fans of other teams….and even a few Viking fans (so they say….I don’t understand some fans now a days. They prefer to be fantasy HCs, GMs, Coordinators and, even QBs…..not in the Fantasy Game sense but, in their make believe, they can do it better than anyone on the team sense) have been trashing Teddy pretty much all season. A few Viking fans appear to expect Teddy to never make a mistake, to lead in every QB category and to win every game and, if those things don’t happen, the Vikings MUST cut him and draft another QB! The kid is still learning and, while he’s learning, the rest of the team pulls their weight and, as a team they accomplish this first goal! Now, there will be those who demand this….the Vikings MUST win the Super Bowl, or they AND Teddy are garbage! Do they have a chance to win the Super Bowl? Sure they do BUT, there are some other teams that are better than us right now. On any given Game Day, any 1 of the 2 teams playing can win! To first win the game, you have to be in the POs and they are! I’m very proud of every single player on the Vikings! It’s great going into a Draft and, not having to take a QB! The Vikings can take the very best player they can get their hands on…in every Round! Yes, there are needs and, they will be addressed but, first things first, there is the POs AND, our Vikings are in them as….THE winners of THE NFC North!! SKOL!

  79. Yes, it was totally rhe Vikings that won the game. The amazing Bridgewater and his 90 yards with no touchdowns and an interception, the mighty Peterson and his whopping 60 yards rushing, and the greatest WR in NFL history Corderrelle Patterson and his amazing 70 yard scamper and fumble caused by the kicker. Yep the Vikings totally won that game. It had nothing to do with the Packers trying to win the game only in the 4th quarter, the fact that the offensive line can’t block a stationary wall and the fact that the Vikings scored over a 3rd of their points off of 1 packers turnover. Yep the Vikings totally outmatched the Packers in every way and showed that they are undoubtedly the best team in the NFC.

  80. The Ragnar Curse is lifted! Skol! So proud of the D getting back on that last (late) Hail Mary. Barr’s awareness and hustle there was amazing. Offense was ugly. We’re under dogs at home. But bring on the playoffs. Win or lose, this is a team on the rise.

  81. Great win by the Vikings. Their window is barely beginning to open. Packers is starting to close.

Feels good to be division champs.

Kinda surprised to see all of these Packer fans overlooking Washington. Over the second half the season, Washington has been a better team than Green Bay.

  82. Granted we got the toughest matchup, but this is a team with a different mindset than hosted the hawks last time. The team has repeatedly called that game their wakeup call and played like it since. The seahawks will be favored, but I expect a very different game this time around, and a heckuva contest.

  83. In 2016, the production (at the margin) of a 30-year old, post-ACL Jordy Nelson should return the Packers to the immediately to the top.

  84. Really, when you win the conference every year, another conference title is not “Historic.”

When you win it once a decade —-> that’s historic.

Vikings fans here better reassess their choice of words.

A better approach is to act like you’ve been there before.

  85. Joke’s on Minnesota. They can have the red hot Seahawks, and I’ll take a Redskins team that backed into the playoffs.

  86. Weather?… it was just as cold in Seattle as the North Pole last week. Something tells me, that Russell Wilson, who played college at Wisconsin and Beast Mode may be back, who played pro in Buffalo, etc etc, just don’t give a damn.
Well… maybe Richard Sherman from LA… might wish for it, don’t it don’t matter.
Didn’t that home trouncing the Hawks gave you Queenies a few weeks ago give you all a hint?

    Isn’t that field heated anyway?

  87. Great win, it should have been easier. TB needs to grow a pair and stop making bail out throws. Great defensive stance but they should have blitzed more before allowing that last GB touchdown, the defensive linemen were tired. Either way Rogers choked on the end zone int. We’ll take it and the opportunity to play at home. As a side note, Seattle can be beaten, if not they’d be undefeated. Thanks for the class a few of you GB fans are showing. Go Vikings!

  88. “While he’s still one of the league’s best passers, Rodgers can get rattled when things aren’t going right around him.”
    ————————
Can we just stop with that nonsense this year? He hasn’t been one of the best this year. Thru 15 games Rodgers was 12th in rating, 17th in yardage, 26th or 27th in completion % and 31st in yards per attempt. It may just be an off year, but none-the-less, he has been far from one of the best in 2015.

    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

“Few players deliver a better deep ball than Rodgers, but to do that, he has to have time to take a drop and have someone get open and catch it. And it also helps when people understand where they’re supposed to be, and they don’t have to burn timeouts late. ”
    ————————

Please! There were plays where the Vikings didn’t really rush but tried to contain him in the pocket, and even with the time he couldn’t do much. He also had some horribly off target throws. And the burned time out happened because the Packers took so long to decide what to do they took up too much of the play clock.

Rodgers has looked down right awful on his own plenty of times. The fumble this week wasn’t on him, but the ones last week sure were. The INT in the endzone last week and again this week were completely on him. Obviously the line’s struggles, the receivers difficulties getting separation and the inconsistent running game hasn’t helped him, but Rodgers has looked mediocre to bad plenty of times all on his own.

  89. I was watching the Chokers’ fans at the bar tonight. Their quietness as the Vikings went up 20-3. Their arrogance resurfacing with the 3 Chokers unanswered scoring drives. The look of disbelief as Erin tossed a pick in the end zone… as if they actually expected another ‘Hail Mary’ miracle to save yet another lack-luster performance.

I predict Washington will eliminate the Chokers next week… 21-7.

  90. Josh Sitton did a good enough job in pass protection? Did you see the game? Griffen was getting pressure despite Sitton hooking him with his arm from behind. I give him credit for moving over from G and not having much practice at the position, but I wouldn’t quite qualify it as “good enough”.

  91. Teddy was awful tonight and they still won. The Vikings NFC North champions. nobody saw that happening this year.

  92. Can we agree both teams suck right now? Zimmer blitzes 90% of the time and has a QB with a noodle arm. Good luck going up against a team with a offensive line because Zimmers overly aggressive scheme will be exposed. You can’t expect the limp wristed through style of Bustwater to be able to keep up in a score fest.

  93. So, the “we are glad we lost so we can play the Redskins” talk is already in full swing. But, the Redskins are red hot, and that Packer offense isn’t beating anybody.

  94. Based on recent play, the Packers are the team in the most trouble. That doesn’t mean they won’t make a run. Any team with Rodgers as QB can catch fire at any time but I definitely give the Redskins a decent chance at making it to the Divisional Round. As a Hawks fan, and one that has rooted for the team since the dark 90’s, I take no opponent for granted. I think the Vikings will definitely play a much different game against my Hawks than the one we saw a few weeks ago.

2 games this year. Green Bay: 43 points vs. Minnesota, Vikings 33 points vs. Green Bay. What a joke of a franchise.
    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

    Way to show some class…

Both teams played 6 games in the NFC North Division this year. One was 5 – 1 and the other was 3 – 3 (losing at home all three times).

Which franchise is a joke or a pretender?

The stats tell a different story. AD with < 4ypc and < 70 yards. TB with <100 yards on 10 completions. Rodgers with 24 completions for nearly 300 yards.
    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

    Selective stats…

You forgot to mention that Rodgers had twice the turnovers that Teddy did and threw that ball more than twice as much.

Also, Peterson's counterpart for the Packers, Eddie Lacy had half the yardage and no TD's.

Peterson earned the NFL Rushing Title before the game started.

Teddy in his last four games went 3 – 1.

    Rodgers went 2 – 2.

Teddy had a total 1 INT and 1 lost fumbles. Rodgers had 3 INT's and 3 lost fumbles.

Teddy's only loss was by 3 points. The combined score of all 4 games was Vikings 127 – opposing teams 70.

Rodgers losses were by 37 points. The combined score of the 4 games was Packers 79 – opposing teams 85.

We both played the Cardinals, we played each other. We played the Bears (6-10) and the Giants (6-10) while you played the Raiders (7-9) and the Cowboys (4-12).

Which team played best in the last quarter of the season?

  96. I have no dog in this fight…neutral observer. Always an interesting and fun dialogue to read between GB and MN trolls. PFT – you need to write a GB or MN post every day so all of the rest of us get our daily fix.

One thing not mentioned in the 103 comments is that Rodgers played his entire season w/o his top offensive weapon, Jordy Nelson. Bridgewater played his season with his…AP. Wonder how this season would have turned out had the roles been reversed.

Just some perspective…don’t get too high, MN fans, and don’t get too low, GB fans. Let’s see what happens next weekend…

  97. With a healthy Kevin White and Alshon Jeffery, in addition to the greatest coaching staff ever assembled, and by far the best GM Ryan Pace, I fully expect the Bears to go 5-1 or 6-0 in the NFC North. Go Bears!!!

Wait for it…. wait for it……

Vikings didn’t beat the Packers. The Packers beat themselves.

Nope they didn’t beat themselves no excuses from this Packer fan. The Packers right now are a terrible football team plain and simple.

  99. The Packers continued their slide, they are a team in full swing decline and void of talent outside of Rodgers, who even looks to have regressed.

  100. stellarperformance says: Nov 13, 2015 8:54 AM

There’s a lot of banter whether the Vikings should be 6-2 or 7-1. Please. Just accept the good fortune that has come your way. Everyone that saw the Bears game saw the guy run into the punter as his leg was in the raised position. That’s a huge no-no that went uncalled. Even Vikings fans were shocked. Without that call, it would be a loss and you know it. And don’t come back with “stop whining.” It is what it is and all teams benefit from similar circumstances.
The Vikings have a tough five-game schedule ahead of them, as do the Packers. I believe the Vikings will come out of this stretch 2-3, and the Packers 4-1.
Go ahead and save this opinion and shove it in my face in six weeks. It wouldn’t be the first time I’ve eaten crow.

    bridgeh2osays:

    Consider yourself served, stellar.

Here is your crow, warm and heaping!

This is reality after last night’s game, where the packer boo birds came out:

-The packers receivers can NOT separate.
-Rodgers has lost something. When several receivers were open, he misfired.
-It took a WAY TOO CONSERVATIVE Norv Turner calling Viking plays to help keep gbay in this game.
-The packers do not pose any real threat in Lambeau-THEY LOST EVERY DIVISION GAME in Lambeau this year…..0-3.
-The assumption that a Jordy Nelson return is all the packers need is a HUGE mirage. Too many issues on defense, and other parts of their offense.
-Zimmer is a darn good coach, and McCarthy has been able to hide behind Rodgers for years. McCarthy is a solid coach, but where were the adjustments? Coaching up? Please extend his contract!!!!
-Vikes are simply getting better, and the 3rd youngest team in the league. Our defense is for real and Bwater can do the job if Norv let’s him!
-Rodgers seems much less confident in both his teammates and coaches…….it appears to be unraveling.
    -Packers do NOT SCARE anyone.

All in all, the Vikes are built to surprise people now, while growing, the packers look as though their window has been shut-by the VIKES.

  101. So the Vikes score on an incomplete forward pass from Rogers. Because we all know that was a forward pass. So I guess that’s the refs paying back the Pack for that terrible facemask call against the Lions that set up that Hail-mary.

  102. Ahh, a team defining itself with a division title.

The Atlanta Braves won 13 in a row.

They won only one WS during that stretch.

It’s about Super Bowls, not NFC North division titles.

  103. Anyone thinking you’re better off losing to get a better matchup in the playoffs has a loser mentality. The playoffs are about winning the championship. You’re going to have to beat a good team eventually. If you can’t beat the teams you need to beat to win it all, what difference does it make when you play them?

  104. Well, I guess I had that coming. I think my boasting was more wishful thinking than anything else. I knew the Vikings were playing very confidently and the Packers very inconsistently.

The Packers have gotten worse and worse ever since the Denver game. Rodgers also looks lost. I don’t see any easy solutions, and Jordy will make a minimal difference when he returns.

Congratulations to the Vikings and their fans. They won a “must-win” game and have effectively taken the Green Bay monkey off their backs. You will no longer see “the Packers own the Vikings,” from me.

    Good luck. Enjoy it.

Who are you directing this post to? Certainly not Viking fans (even though you say it is).

The Packers won just a single Divisional Title in the 60’s, another single title in the 70’s and in the 80’s they “claimed” a title with a 5 win season (with 3 wins with scab players – 2 wins without).

It took until the 90’s when they could finally win more than 1, (they won 3).

The Vikings had 2 in the 60’s, 8 in the 70’s, a real title in the 80’s, 3 in the 90’s.

The Vikings won more titles in the 70’s (8) than the Packers won in the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s (6 counting the “scab” title) combined.

You had your precious 4 season titles in a row, but both the Bears (5) and the Vikings (6) have exceeded 4 in a row.

  106. It’s like big brother telling little brother whoever holds there hand over the flame the longest wins the Vikings won the battle but are going to lose the war teddy bear against Seattle’s defense good grief

  107. The Packers got knocked off the mountain. Now, they will, IF POSSIBLE, have to claw their way back up. With those 3 losses in Lambeau, don’t expect it for a while.

  108. To all the fans and media saying they don’t want to play Seattle…. What do you think happens in the playoffs? If you want to advance you need to beat teams like Sea, AZ and Car eventually anyway.

Very nicely said!! Great fans can also be gracious in defeat. Was a fun game, glad the vikes won, but I’ve got no delusions going into the Seattle game, that will be tough. Good luck to the Packers in DC.

  110. Any team that lets their star running back balloon to 3 bills doesn’t have the discipline needed to win a championship.

  111. The Tides are turning. Zimmer is a far superior coach compared to fat-boy-complainy-pants who wouldn’t have had a job more than 3 years without one of the best QBs of this era on his roster. Ted Thompson is over-rated, again, because of his one golden draft pick. Clay Matthews is an over-rated, classless D-bag that behaves like a 14 year old (e.g. the Carson Palmer pull your hand back “psyche” play last week) and repeatedly disappears for portions of, if not entire, games at this stage in his career.

Hats off to the Packers for the lat decade. You’ve have had a nice run. The fans that were around in the 70s and 80s…well…those haunting nightmares are coming back. Bwahahahahaahahha!

  112. All I have to say is…

The Minnesota Vikings won the NFC-N Divisional Championship a mere 2 years after a significant coaching change by defeating it’s nemesis and perennial division leader (of late) Green Bay Packers in front of their hometown fans AND on prime time national TV, in what was perhaps one of the most hyped, non-Superbowl NFL events of the last decade… and the Vikings are still considered by most sports experts to be a team that is rebuilding. You can count on Zimmer to address what shortcomings the Vikings may still have in the off season.

It makes me smile thinking about what the 2016-17 season may bring.

  113. A little clue for the Vikings fans…
By beating the Packers last night you win the North Division title, Nice job. “Golf clap”
    What does that get you….

A date with Seattle, it will not be pretty next week, you will be one and done… same as my severely under achieving packers this year.

A later pick than the Packers, nice job… again.

And…. the chance to play the higher seeded teams on next years schedule.

last… All this talk of a decade of dominance is a little much, win two… then talk smack.

  114. If anyone had told me prior to the season that the Vikings would lose two of their starting offensive linemen for the entire season, and still make the playoffs, I would have labeled them crazy. Not even the most optimistic fans would have predicted an 11-5 season under those circumstances.

That said, if the Vikings want to advance beyond next week, Norv Turner needs to start trusting his QB enough to throw on first down. His predictable play-calling is making it far too easy for opponents to key on AP on first down, stuff him for a short gain, and then pin their ears back and rush the passer. The Vikings need Bridgewater to be the key offensive player next week, not AP.

The Vikings have exercised one demon (a shellacking at the hands of Green Bay on their home field), and now have the opportunity to do the same this week.

As a Viking fan, this was one heck of a win for them. For the first time in forever, they post a winning record for the season on the road; they didn’t even do that back in 2009. Zimmer has molded this team’s defense into a very good and very promising group. Now the offense needs to step up and produce.

  115. Congrats to the Vikings winning the division.

The game had 3 big plays for the Vikings- fumble for a TD and #19 having 2 big runs, other than that GB almost won this game, despite only playing 1 quarter (4th)…
Just saying, I wouldn’t be pounding my chest over this win..

Now on to next weeks games – I hope the Vikings give Seattle a heck of a game, and maybe squeeze one out. You never know.
GB, should beat Washington, but after the performance against the last 10 opponents, I can’t see it being easy.
It wouldn’t surprise me if both teams lose next Sunday.

Good season too you Viking Fans, enjoy it for one year, cause we’ll be coming for you next year.
    Go Pack Go

  116. Congrats Vikings, as a Seahawks fan I am looking forward to playing you guys with all of your defensive guys back that missed the last one. I don’t know that they will make up 31 points, but the game will be a lot more competitive for sure. I like Seattle’s chances though, don’t see a Teddy B led team beating a battle tested Russell W led team. Oh and the weather? It’s not warm for anyone, you don’t get used to 15 degrees. It’s been in the upper 20’s in Seattle too, so…

  117. “r8dernation says: So the Vikes score on an incomplete forward pass from Rogers. Because we all know that was a forward pass.”

    ///

The video clearly shows Rodgers arm getting hit and his control of the ball loosening before any forward motion of his arm. I will give Rodgers credit where credit is due… he is very intelligent. He knew he was losing his grip and tried to make it look like his arm had forward motion before the ball popped out; but good positioning of the camera made that impossible for the officials to rule in his favor.

  118. Congrats Vikes!

    1. Norv Turner needs more play action on 1st down. Also, got too conservative when the Purple had a lead. I’d like to see a tongue lashing & then allow the young QB to throw again after that stupid “throw with my left hand in traffic” decision.

    2. Zimmer said that hanging a banner was important. Well, goal accomplished….congrats. Even though we play Seattle, it is a home game & you know they will get up to play for it after being hammered a month ago. To be the best, you have to beat the best. Very good high-level mind-set coaching by Zim. Have to respect it.

    3. I’d rather not see Corderrelle smile so much after giving the Pack a chance to come back.

  119. If Rodgers is such a great QB, why cant he win when he does not have Jordy Nelson. Tom Brady, Manning, Farve all win when there recieving core is depleted. Instead of Rodgers making the wide out look good, they make him look good. Rodgers is a fraud and all of cheesehead land knows it and this season shows it.

  120. I give up. MN is better than Wisconsin. Congrats to the 2015 NFC North Champion Minnesota Vikings.

  121. The packers and the Vikings are not going to do much of anything in the playoffs this year anyway. So why not win the North at least. Well done Vikings.

  122. Joke’s on Minnesota. They can have the red hot Seahawks, and I’ll take a Redskins team that backed into the playoffs.
    _________________________________________

Backed into the playoffs? They won their division, secured the NFC 4th seed, albeit a weak division, a week ago – how is that “backing into” the playoffs?

  123. Don’t make excuses, people; they won the game fair and square. And for the love of Jebus, don’t start with the “they wanted to lose so they could go to Washington” nonsense. That’s a loser’s mentality, and I want none of that. The Packers are still in it, so all we can do is continue to root for them.

Congratulations to the Viking fans, if there are any here.

  124. To the packer fans not getting the fumble. Rodgers reaction to the play tells you all you need to know. He fumbled and knew it because he ran right away to try to make a tackle. Just stop.

Funny, the Packers won the division the last four years and all it got them was a loss in the playoffs, a lower draft pick, and a tougher schedule, but I don’t remember any Packer fans claiming the Vikings were better off.

  127. We all know Rodgers hasn’t been himself this year, but the notion that he is no good is laughable.

  128. Mike Neadle and Juice Peppers will come through for us. They will help Clay to look even more like a caveman, and they will help Aaron slow his decline.

  129. Even though the Vikings came out with the victory and a home playoff game, if I were a Vikings fan, I would be furious seeing Patterson smiling and laughing on the sidelines after he nearly gave the game away. Same with Petersen and the fumble he thankfully recovered. Green Bay is in a free fall and the NFC north isn’t scaring many teams right now.

Oh, and bonus! You won another division flag! Another way you traditionally measure you’re success!!

And congratulations on your NFL record-extending “one-and-done” season. See you next year!!
    ———————————————-
NFL Extending one-and-done – You do realize their “record of one-an-done in the playoffs is at one right now. In 2012 they were one and done. The prior playoff appearance in the 2009 season they won against Dallas then lost to the Saints.

So by your logic the Vikings are the only one and done team that lost their next playoff game????

  132. It’s been really hard to watch the Packers start out like they did only to get worse every week.

This season will be a gut check to that coaching staff and GM that they were way too complacent in dealing with injuries and a complete lack execution down the stretch by the offense.

It’s been a long time since I’ve seen them so out of it on offense. You can’t blame that on injuries. Last night’s game was a testament to that. I watched receivers run to a spot over and over to have a defender standing there waiting. (no creativity) I watched Rodgers audible into a run with literally 10 guys within 3 yards of the line of scrimmage at least 3 times. You have to throw your way out of this defensive scheme that has been copycatted by every team since the 2nd half of the season and he acts like he’s too afraid to do it. Are these receivers that bad? WOW!

Congrats to the vikings, you won and it’s your division. A well deserved end to a successful season.

Anybody that knows anything about football, knows that it’s a team sport. And, that team is made up of 3 smaller parts – offense, defense, and special teams. The Vikings defense and special teams clearly carried the offense in this game. So, while you pointed out how less than average the offense played, you totally missed how the defense and special teams outplayed the Packers offense and special teams throughout the game.

  140. Wow, SOOO many tickets available for this game, for shame Vikings fans. I know its going to be cold, but us here in Seattle can fly RT and get a game ticket for 400 bucks. Thats awesome! Tons of us snapping up flights and cheap tickets. Just gotta go buy a balaclava for the 5 degree temps.

With a healthy Kevin White and Alshon Jeffery, in addition to the greatest coaching staff ever assembled, and by far the best GM Ryan Pace, I fully expect the Bears to go 5-1 or 6-0 in the NFC North. Go Bears!!!

    ————————————

Nobody knows what kind of pro White will be, he’s never even played an NFL down. Jeffery is an unrestricted free agent this year, short of franchising him, there’s no guarantee he will be a Bear next season. Adam Gase is once again going to be one of the hottest HC candidates, and will probably not be back in Chicago. Everybody in the know credits Cutler’s improved play to Gase’s coaching, not Fox’s. If Gase is gone, I see Cutler regressing back to having a 20+ interception season.

  142. Really?? That’s not the info we have. Someone must be selling you bogus tickets! Better check before you make that long trip just to have to watch your team lose in some bar amongst the Viking faithful, huh? People in Minnesota are VERY nice, though. Very hospitable, dontcha, know? Ah ubetcha! SKOL!!!!!

    *******************

For those that don’t understand how things work…

Draft order for playoff teams – yet to be determined. If you win in Washington and we lose at home, we will pick before you.

I hope we pick after you – as I want to win not lose (like apparently you do).

As far as playing “higher seeded” teams next year – it’s only 2 of the 16 games that are different.

By your winning the division last year – you got to play Dallas (4 – 12 this season and 12 – 4 last season) and Carolina (15 – 1 this season and 7 – 8 – 1 last season).

So obviously, this year’s records don’t necessarily mean much next year.

Next year we will play Carolina and Arizona, while the Packers play the Seahawks and the Falcons.

Other than that – it’s the same schedule.

Joke’s on Minnesota. They can have the red hot Seahawks, and I’ll take a Redskins team that backed into the playoffs.

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Redskins have won 4 in a row – that’s not backing into the playoffs.

Now losing your last two games – that would be backing into the playoffs…. 😀

  148. Zimmer deserves consideration for coach of the year and isn’t even getting mentioned by the pondits.

At first I was on the fence about winning the game in light of the playoff seeding/opponent implications, but that’s short sighted. You have to beat Seattle, Arizona or Carolina at some point, and if you can’t beat one of those three, it’s better to lose to them in the first round to assure a better draft pick. ALso we have the bragging rights of winning the division, if nothing else.

Also, I’d rather play Seattle at home in single digit temps then have to go to Seattle.

GB “backed” into the playoffs with the assistance of a miracle hail mary. Washington cinched last week. Not sure what GB fans are so excited about in that matchup.

  149. Congrats to the Vikings organization. Zimmer has done a heck of a job.

    On to Washington! Go Pack!!

  150. I actually heard Packer Fans BOOING their team last night! After what they have given to their fans the last 20+ years. It is simply unbelievable!
It just goes to show you how Green Bay is ready to implode upon itself!
If The Packers lose to Washington next Week look for their fans to start calling for McCarthy’s head!
They starten mentioning perhaps he was too Old and out of touch in October.
If I were Rodgers I’d be doing a Discount Double Check of his contract, looking for an escape clause.
Green bay Fans need to take a really long hard look at the reality of the NFL and how lucky they have been the last 20 years or so!
Two or Three Down years would see Packer fans bailing on their team like no Vikings fan would ever think of… Shame on you! Booing a Great team like the Packers! You don’t deserve that Wonderful organization!

I’m not trying to cause trouble but it’s ironic you say this. I spoke to three separate Redskin fans today and each one of them are elated because they believe they are the lucky ones facing the team that backed in the playoffs. I have total respect for the Packers organization but let’s be real here. If any team “backed into the playoffs” that would be the team that lost their last two regular season games. Not a team that won their final 4 regular season games.

packers lose their Super Bowl against the Vikings.

    Vikings win the NFC North.

All is back to normal in the NFC North.

    Onward against Seattle!
    ===================================

    ………………
Minnesota Vikings – 2015 NFC North Division CHAMPIONS!!!

  154. Anyone who thinks the Vikings lost by winning is an idiot. All teams are tough in the playoffs, home field advantage is a much bigger difference than the difference of Seattle and Washington (or Green Bay, as that is who Minnesota would have drawn).
Plus, its much more fun when there is a game in town, the city is electric that week. Not to mention the huge boon for local businesses that a playoff game brings.

I am looking forward to a much better game than their first meeting. Seattle playing well but they haven’t been dominant in the postseason except for the Superbowl win.

  155. I want to take this time to commend a number of the Packer fans on PFT.

But there are still some that are living in total denial of what has happened since the bye week this season.

I have no sympathy for those who are refusing to deal with the harsh reality of the situation.

  156. Hmmmmm…. I wonder what kind of excuse oops, description of the game you are going to give when Captain Kirk and Washington beats you on Sunday????

Don’t make excuses, people; they won the game fair and square. And for the love of Jebus, don’t start with the “they wanted to lose so they could go to Washington” nonsense. That’s a loser’s mentality, and I want none of that. The Packers are still in it, so all we can do is continue to root for them.

Congratulations to the Viking fans, if there are any here.
    ————————————-
And that’s a great point. Both teams are in it regardless of how they got there. Regardless of how well or badly either team has played it’s now the playoffs and anything can happen.

I remember just a few short years ago (2010 – 2011 season) the Seahawks won their division at 7-9 and faced the Saints (defending SB Champs @ 13-3) and went to NO and beat them. No one gave the Seahawks a chance to win that game yet they did. Who can forget Beastmode’s plow through the Saints entire defense?
