There’s been no word from the Giants yet about whether Tom Coughlin will return as the team’s coach for the 2016 season, but it sounds like there should be some update about their plans before the day is out.

Dan Graziano of ESPN.com reports that Coughlin will meet with team owners John Mara and Steve Tisch at 1 p.m. ET. Graziano adds that a “a decision may have been made,” but there’s no hint about what that decision might be.

Coughlin has a year left on his contract, but there was talk over the weekend that Coughlin would resign this week. On Sunday night, however, Mike Florio reported that there is an “emerging sense” that he won’t walk away and that there may be disagreement between Mara and Tisch about whether to take the decision out of Coughlin’s hands.

If the Giants are going to start a coaching search, they’d likely prefer to have that decision squared away sooner rather than later in order to line up interviews with their desired candidates. If that decision comes during the reported meeting, they could start scheduling those chats before the day is out.
