There are a lot of players who have played a role in the 10-game winning streak that ended the Chiefs season, many of whom haven’t received honors that call attention to how well they’ve played this season.

Rookie cornerback Marcus Peters does not fall into that group. Peters has been celebrated as one of the top rookies in the league for a long time now and the final month of the regular season provided two chances to recognize his accomplishments.

Peters was named to the Pro Bowl and he was selected as the NFL’s defensive rookie of the month on Thursday. Peters had four interceptions in the final five games of the season, one of which he returned for a touchdown against the Ravens in a 34-14 Week 15 victory.

Peters picked off eight passes overall this season, which tied him for first in the league and adds to a season that will make Peters a strong choice for defensive rookie of the year when it comes time to vote for that honor.
