It’s gone from bad to worse for the Patriots, regarding the health of tight end Rob Gronkowski.

A limited participant in Wednesday’s practice due to a knee injury, Gronkowski also has a back injury, according to the team’s official injury report. Gronkowski didn’t practice on Thursday.

A total of seventeen Patriots appear on the injury report, even though New England hasn’t played since Week 17. Quarterback Tom Brady has fully participated both days with an ankle injury suffered against the Dolphins on January 3.

Receiver Julian Edelman has practiced on a limited basis the last two days, as he continues to recover from a broken bone in his foot, which has caused Edelman to miss the last seven games. He last played on November 15, against the Giants.

The status for all injured Patriots will be updated on Friday, with one of the various labels -- probable, questionable, doubtful, or out -- applied.
