Monday marked the deadline for underclassmen to declare their intentions to enter the 2016 NFL Draft, and Auburn running back Peyton Barber’s announcement that he’s headed to the draft probably came as a surprise to most.

Barber rushed for 1,017 yards and 13 touchdowns last season as a redshirt sophomore. He opened the season third on Auburn’s running back depth chart.

Auburn listed Barber at 5-foot-11, 225. He’s a second cousin of former NFL players Marion and Dominique Barber.

More than 85 names are expected to be on the list of underclass entries for this year’s draft when the NFL office finalizes and releases it.
