The Colts have made several changes to their coaching staff since agreeing to an extension with head coach Chuck Pagano after the end of the season, including parting ways with defensive backs coach Mike Gillhamer.

They have found his replacement. The Colts announced Wednesday that Greg Williams will take over as the defensive backs coach.

Williams spent the last seven seasons with the Chargers, where he worked as an assistant linebackers coach for four years and an assistant defensive backs coach for the last three seasons. He worked at the college level before moving to San Diego in 2009.

A familial connection may have helped Williams find his way to Indianapolis. The Chargers’ defensive coordinator has been John Pagano, Chuck’s brother, since the 2012 season and he was the head linebackers coach for Williams’ first three season as the assistant position coach.
