There’s a Chris Harris playing in the AFC Championship Game Sunday, but the Chargers just hired another one who was a pretty good defensive back in his own right.
The Chargers announced they hired former Bears and Panthers safety Chris Harris to serve as their assistant defensive back coach.
Harris played for the Panthers when Chargers coach Mike McCoy was an assistant there, forcing eight fumbles in 2007. He’s replacing Greg Williams (not Gregg), who was hired by the Colts this week.
Harris worked two years as a quality control coach for the Bears (2013-14). He played eight years in the NFL, and was a second-team All Pro in 2010. He also played for the Jaguars and Lions.
