Barring a change of circumstance and contract, running back Marshawn Lynch isn’t expected to be back with the Seahawks in 2016. But will he be back in the NFL?
Seahawks General Manager John Schneider said in a radio interview with ESPN Seattle Friday that he expects Lynch to retire.
If Lynch retires he’ll owe the Seahawks $5 million in bonus money, so his best play is to wait for the team to release him. His release seems inevitable since he’s due $9 million from the Seahawks next season.
Lynch turns 30 in April. He was limited to seven games last season by injury.
Lynch had gone over 1,200 yards rushing and scored at least 11 touchdowns in four straight seasons prior to 2015.
