Sunday will be Brady’s 31st postseason game, Manning’s 26th

AP

Tom Brady will set an NFL record on Sunday by playing in the 31st postseason game of his career.

Brady is currently tied with his former teammate Adam Vinatieri, with an NFL record 30 postseason games played. When Brady takes his first snap on Sunday in Denver, he’ll officially have the record all to himself.

Peyton Manning isn’t far behind Brady on the all-time postseason games played record. Sunday will be Manning’s 26th career postseason game, which is the fifth-most for any NFL player and second only to Brady for a quarterback.

The only players at any position with more postseason games played than Manning’s soon-to-be 26 are Brady, Vinatieri, Jerry Rice with 29, and former Cowboy D.D. Lewis with 27. Manning is moving into a tie with former Cowboy Larry Cole and longtime NFL linebacker Bill Romanowski with 26 career postseason games played.

The active player with the next-most career playoff games is Vince Wilfork, who has played in 22 postseason games — 21 as Brady’s teammate in New England, and one this year in Houston.

The Super Bowl will either be Brady’s 32nd postseason game or Manning’s 27th.

  1. “The Super Bowl will either be Brady’s 32nd postseason game or Manning’s 27th.”

The Super Bowl will NOT Be mannings 27th

  2. They should both do a dance at mid field, and then look to the ref for an unsportsmanlike penalty.

    Tricked ya!
Manning and Brady aren’t getting flagged anytime soon.

  3. If the Broncos win on Sunday then Manning will FINALLY tie Tim Tebow in playoff career W-L record as a starting QB.

    What an accomplishment!

    🙂

  4. career W-L record as a starting QB.

Of course I meant playoff win-loss percentage record. 🙂

  5. If the Patriots win on Sunday then Brady will have two full football seasons worth of playoff football under his belt. That’s pretty cool.

    🙂

  6. “When Brady takes his first snap on Sunday in Denver, he’ll officially have the record all to himself.”

Don’t tell Manning or he will want to hang around long enough to get that record too.

  7. All good things must end. These two dominated the NFL for the better part of 2 decades.

“He was a man, take him for all in all,
I shall not look upon his like again.”

  8. Most records in todays game you can say are because of new rules or more games or WC games,, …. but very few of Bradys games have been WC. Hate if you wish, or respect like us Pack fans… Well done

  9. Bill Belichick might be the most underrated, forgotten person in all of these “Brady” stats that everyone keeps posting. Without Belichick, does anyone really believe that Brady would have had as much success as he has had? It seems that a lot of the credit is being misplaced for “Brady’s” stats.

  10. The only stat Brady cares about is getting to the SB again, and winning it. He cares nothing about personal records or achievements. It’s all about TEAM wins, and capping off the season with hardware.

That’s why he’s the G.O.A.T. and manning isn’t. Nothing in manning’s “legacy” is going to change that.

  11. Think how many he’d have without 9 one-and-done’s.

Crazy to me how many games Wilfork has been in, but 10 years at a Patriot will do that for you. Great player.

  12. Best of luck Tom !

    Go Pats !

If the Pats make it to the Super Bowl that will be an incredible 7 out of 14 seasons Brady will have played that he made it to the big game.

Pats nation is pretty damn spoiled.

  13. When you use the word “set” it means that the number will no longer move. The record will be “broken” means that it has the opportunity to get larger. When he retires and can no longer add to his total the record will have been “set”. (Sorry. Rough week for me.)

  14. If Brady actually does play 3 or 4 more years his playoff numbers are going to look ridiculous. He could also conceivably catch Peyton’s regular season records. The Brady haters are going to be sick to their stomachs. I was in denial for many years as I bought the whole Peyton and Brady fight for the GOAT title but that’s long gone and Brady is looking like Secretariat down the home stretch. Meanwhile Peyton is round the last turn trying to pass the group of horses Brady left in the dust.

  15. Can hear the haters warming up now,
“Montana didn’t need that many games”
    “Manning…one and dones”
    “Blah, cheat, venom, blah…”
    “Yada yada hgh yada yada”

So damn sad. While the rest of us have had the pleasure of watching these two players make history playing some of the greatest football anyone could ever hope to see the trolls snipe from under their pathetic bridges SMH

And without Brady, what is Belichick’s record as head coach?

    Their success comes together.

  17. Stats are a product of the rules which have changed over the years as we all know.

When a guy like Nick Foles throws 7 TD in a game you know something has gone really wrong with the almighty “stat” in today’s game

Therefore to measure greatness in a QB you go by WINS and RINGS. Not stats.

Yes, team stat, blah blah blah, I know. The thing is….the other team’s QB has the same advantage of passer friendly rules. SO when your QB wins and beat the other guy… it means something. In fact it means everything.

BB & TB each benefitted from each other. Neither would have had the success without the other. The whole in this case is greater than the sum of the parts.
Or as Dr Cooper would put it,

    they are “un-unravelable”

Cannot wait for both of them to retire. It’ll allow the younger generation to finally break out.

Great, then we can have mediocre football league wide. Real QB’s replaced by Hold me Closer Panther Dancer.

    Can’t wait.

  19. Another fact?

If Brady wins Sunday, he’ll have as many playoff wins as Montana had playoff games.

    That’s crazy.

I never really understood this argument from non Pats fans that Brady or Belichick is somehow less because they were on the same team as the other.

We’ll never see them on different teams so… does it matter how they would do? 🙂

    Got it.

  22. Is there another Brady or Peyton on the horizon?
Sure doesn’t look like it. 🙂

Rodgers is in the conversation I guess but he has a ways to go.

  23. Pats nationare pretty damn spoiled brats.

Brady is a TuTu wearing crybaby who whines constantly….waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

  24. OK well that’s just an amazing set of numbers. I love Tom and the Patriots but can’t bring myself to hate Peyton. Patriots fans need to lighten up and recognize greatness beyond Tom bleeping Brady. We’re gonna miss them both when they are gone, guys.

Cheer up! There’s two great football games on this weekend to enjoy! Too bad about your Steelers but let’s face it they would get destroyed by any of these 4 teams.

Playtime league is over for the year, it’s time for the big boys to compete.

  27. Brady is by far the greatest QB of all time, no one else is even close, to accomplish what he has with so many different players is beyond amazing.
Who else has ever lead their team to 6 go ahead touchdowns in the Super Bowl late in the 4th quarter?
Brady should be in the HOF now, no waiting 5 years, his greatness and leadership are a model for all future athletes.
    God bless this living legend.

If younger talent is going to break out…then it does. It does not matter who else is playing. You”re elite, or you’re not. It’s that simple.

  29. It’s amazing that Brady has played two full extra seasons, just with playoff games. That might actually end up costing him a year or two of his playing career just because of the wear and tear.

  30. When I realized Brady was going to his 10th conference championship game suddenly I also realized that if I wasn’t lucky enough to be a Pats fan I would hate him and the Pats intensely. just like I hated the Habs in the ’70s.
So maybe the smug superiority I feel when the rabid trolls are ranting is a little misplaced and their antics are a little understandable and forgiveable.

Be sure you hang around to eat some TeeHee Crow made by Gerbers..

NFL wants Peyton to beat the Cheaties… Can’t blame them.

  32. Yeah, nothing to do with Brady having the greatest coach of all time and Manning spending most of his career with Jim Caldwell, John Fox, and Gary Kubiak. The only time he had a decent coach, the good but overrated Tony Dungy he beat Brady en route to winning a Super Bowl.

  34. Barry Bonds hit 762 home runs. That’s more than any other player in history. He’s the GOAT. Tom Brady and Bonds have one thing in common. They both attended Serra High School in San Mateo, CA. Well, maybe two things……

  35. Tom Brady will set an NFL record on Sunday by playing in the 31st postseason game of his career.

The Super Bowl will either be Brady’s 32nd postseason game

    ————————————-

They really saved me doing the math for me…I was about to have a migraine figuring that one out.

  36. Anyone consider that Brady had nothing to lose when he began? No rep, no hype, no expectations. Star goes down and they throw in whats-his-name. Had a few years to watch and learn then took over a pretty good team, defensively at least.

The opposite of RG-Knee is what I’m trying to say.

  37. However, lets be honest here, there were no Pats fans before 2001, its a baseball town and still is, the Patriots bandwagon has been over flowing for years and is quite full.
Now of course some here will tell us how they were at the Pats first ever game in 1960 even though they were born in 1977. 🙂

  38. Some people think that Brady is the Greatest Of All Time

But the thing is, if you don’t count all the times that Montana lost in the playoffs to the Giants, Montana would have a better playoff record than Brady

    ;)-

  39. He has been to 10 Championship games, which is more than 27 other franchises. No wonder the hate and envy keeps pouring in.

Think again Patty cake people hate Cheaters and arrogant spoiled brats… Some respect for the team total loathing of the fan base.

It’s always the fans of teams who barely win a few games a season, and whose players have been playing golf since October who are the most jealous of New England, the G.O.A.T., and the C.O.A.T.

  41. The two best qbs of this generation collide one last time. Unless Aaron Rodgers wins another Super Bowl or someone like Cam Newton and Russell Wilson does the same there will never be another quarterback quite like this one and I say that as a Manning hater.

Hey Fritz, If Peyton wasn’t such a choke artist in the playoffs Tony Dungy would have a far greater legacy and might still be coaching. Unfortunately for him he has the “Greatest” choker of All-Time. BTW, If Fox didn’t have Delohme and Peyton he might be a 2 time SB winner. And lets not forget QB. He was able to get Peyton to the playoffs with 9 TDs and 17 INTs and a rating of 67. Something that has never been done before. He better thank his lucky stars for Kubiak and his defense because he shouldn’t even be in the playoffs with his “Pathetic” QB play.

  48. /dodgerlakerfan1969 Manning and Brady both have the same playoff QB rating proving the difference in success is due to the rest of the team and coaches.

The Pats have been dominate for so long, an entire generation of fans have been born and raised during this reign.

Besides, it’s BEYOND nonsensical to label Boston sports fans as band wagoners. This city has as a rabid fan base in all 4 sports, as anywhere you will find. They eat sleep and crap sports in this town. Trust me.

You’re a guy that cries like a little girl anonymously on the Internet every time he blows his nose.

    LMAO

  58. With all of Manning’s one and done games, you’d figure Brady would have more than a five game lead in that stat.

Additionally, it’s a team stat more than individual. I understand the QB has a lot to do with it, but it’s still a team stat more than individual.

  59. Brady in the playoffs, 17-1 (!) at home, 3-3 on the road. The 3 losses were to Denver (Manning), Denver (Plummer) and Indy (Manning). Just saying…

  60. Figures typical —-Pats fans never have the answer just the same swill … And you wonder why people hate you … It’s not really the team they have been around since 1960 and will be after you arrogant tools are gone… It’s not Brady they want to clobber it’s the trolling lot of moronic fans
Maybe it’s because the Red Sox will always be 2nd to the Yankees
Maybe it’s because the Celtics really haven’t done squat since Bird retired
Maybe it’s because the Bruins can’t hold a candle to the rest of the original six
The Pats will be know for many things other than their play on the field … It’s kinda sad cuz none of you clowns helped much at all

  61. Where were all these patriot fans when new England was embarrassed by Chicago 46 to 10. I’m not a patriot’s fan and I know about Tony Eason, Craig James, Irving fryar, and Andre Tippett. Everyone loves to feel like they’re a part of something successful to fill a void in their own miserable little lives. I guess that’s why Aaron hernandez was part of the Patriots franchise.

  62. Brady and Belichick both have the brains and work ethic to have been very good wherever they ended up. Belichick had 2 SB rings as DC before he ever saw Brady, wins largely attributed to his defensive scheming. But it wasn’t until they connected that they achieved greatness. Belichick’s genius wasn’t in drafting Brady, it was in sticking with him after Bledsoe got healthy again. 99% of all NFL HCs would have gone back to Bledsoe, himself an excellent QB, 1st pick in the draft, and with a huge new contract. Belichick stuck with Brady, and Brady knows exactly what a huge gamble that was. But if you bet big, sometimes you win big.

  63. Let’s be honest. Peyton was good but he was no Brady. And while he managed to win a lot of in seasons games, his post season results showed opposing teams figured him out by the end of the season. Not so with Brady.
They are obviously both future HOFers, but Brady is the Goat.
