Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib is in his second season as Peyton Manning’s teammate, after two seasons as Tom Brady’s teammate in New England. In the head-to-head question of which future Hall of Fame quarterback is better, Talib is going with his current teammate.

Talib pointed out on NFL Network after the game that in the AFC Championship Game, Manning’s teams have won three of four against Brady’s teams. The Broncos are now 2-0 against the Patriots in AFC Championship Games since Manning arrived in Denver, while the Patriots and Colts split their two AFC Championship Game meetings when Manning was a Colt.

“Peyton is 3-1 in the AFC Championship Game, so he’s got the edge in the biggest games they’ve played in,” Talib said.

Talib is right about that, but the reality is that in most of the meetings of Brady and Manning, the team with the better defense won. That was the case today, and the truth is Talib and the Broncos’ defense deserve more of the credit than Manning.
