The Falcons are making some changes on their coaching staff.
Jerome Henderson, who has spent the last four seasons as the Cowboys’ defensive backs coach, will join the Falcons as a passing game coordinator on defense, NFL Media reports. Henderson’s contract with the Cowboys was up, so he doesn’t need permission to leave for Atlanta. He had also interviewed for the Jaguars’ defensive coordinator position.
With Henderson coming on to the defensive coaching staff in Atlanta, the Falcons are moving Raheem Morris to offense. Last year Morris, the former Buccaneers head coach, coached the defensive backs. This year Morris will coach wide receivers, a seemingly odd move as Morris has no experience as either a player or a coach on offense.
The hiring of Henderson reunites him with head coach Dan Quinn. The two both served on the Jets’ defensive coaching staff in 2007 and 2008.
