The year began with the Broncos asking quarterback Peyton Manning to cut his salary from $19 million to $9 million. Eventually, the two sides agreed to a $4 million reduction, with an important asterisk.
Manning would make $2 million back if the Broncos win the AFC championship, and the other $2 million if they win the Super Bowl.
On Sunday, Manning made $2 million when the Broncos beat the Patriots for a berth in Super Bowl 50.
He’ll make the other $2 million with a win. The real question is whether the Broncos will want to pay him $19 million for 2016. If the team wins the Super Bowl, it will be difficult to cut him loose.
