Carson Palmer won’t play in the Pro Bowl because of finger

Yeah, this Pro Bowl is going to be a special one.

Via Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic, Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer is withdrawing from the all-star game, saying he wanted to let his hand heal up.

Of course, Cards coach Bruce Arians said last night the dislocated finger wasn’t the reason the Cardinals lost to the Panthers in dramatic fashion in the NFC Championship Game.

Of course, something happened, as Palmer turned the ball over six times (four interceptions and two fumbles). Whether it was injury related or not, Palmer clearly wasn’t the same player after the injury.

He’s the fourth of the original six quarterbacks chosen to back out, along with Cam Newton, Aaron Rodgers and Ben Roethlisberger. That leaves Tom Brady and Russell Wilson, along with replacements Eli Manning, Derek Carr, Tyrod Taylor and another to be named later.

Philip Rivers has already said no thanks, which means we’re one step closer to the Charlie Whitehurst appearance we’re all waiting for.
